By Selwyn Duke
There was some bad news today. Mike Huckabee — the illegal-alien enabler who I dubbed "Huck the Huckster" — is leading in the last Rasmussen poll for the Iowa caucus. Now, most of those gravitating toward his campaign are good people, so I must assume that they don’t know about his damnable comments regarding immigration. They can be found here — I implore you to left-click on your mouse.
I can understand why people would glom onto Huck; with all the faux traditionalists among the Republican front-runners, the party’s base — Like the X-Files’ Fox Mulder — says "I want to believe." In this case, though, not in aliens, but in an alien lover.
Moreover, Huck, who is a Baptist minister, is benefiting from a groundswell of support from co-religionists. This, too, is understandable. Baptists are usually quite traditional, Huckabee is a Baptist, so, ipso facto . . . .
All I can say is, forgive them Lord, for they know not what they do.
I know that my words may not be well received by all, and I take no joy in dashing good people’s hopes. But this is just déjà vu all over again.
What am I talking about? Remember a peanut farmer named Jimmy Carter? He also benefited from the support of millions of Baptists, people who thought he was one of them in spirit because he was one of them in name. No one told them, however, that they were voting for a man who was going to repudiate the Southern Baptist Convention a generation later. Of course, Huck hasn’t done that. But just give him a couple of decades.
If my pen hasn’t convinced you, run your eyes over this piece, titled "Another Man from Hope," by John Fund. He quotes Phyllis Schlafly, who flatly states that Huck "destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas."
So if you still have high hopes for this second man from Hope, I hope you investigate further. And if the pieces I’ve cited don’t convince you, you’re probably at the wrong site.
Then there’s a news piece about how scores (if not hundreds) of children have been withdrawn from schools in a Des Moines school district because of a city high school’s hosting of a "Gender-Bender Day." During this perverse event, boys and girls are encouraged to dress like members of the opposite sex and tradition is assaulted.
To really understand the egregiousness of this social engineering scheme, you need to take a gander at its "lesson plan," which has been disgorged by the "Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Alliance" (GLSEN). It is found here and is a disgusting example of how we really are slouching toward Gomorrah, to steal Robert Bork’s turn of phrase.
You know, no one rails against Islamism more passionately than I do. But when I see perverts peddling spiritually corruptive poison to the young, I’m reminded of something.
The Moslem world isn’t all wrong.
