Incredibly, Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Rowan Williams has said that Sharia Law should be introduced in Britain. Treating the matter, thisislondon.co.uk writes:
He
[the archbishop] declared that sharia and Parliamentary law should be given equal legal
status so the people could choose which governs their lives. This
raised the prospect of Islamic courts in Britain with full legal powers
to approve polygamous marriages, grant easy divorce for men and prevent
finance firms from charging interest.
It’s a sad day when even Christian prelates proceed as if there is an equivalence among all faiths, an idea that blinds one to the dangers posed by some of them. And Williams certainly is blind, as he seems to believe that Britain can treat Sharia like a Chinese menu, where it will choose one from Group A and two from Group B, omitting what it finds most unpalatable. Speaking to this, he said:
"Nobody in their right mind, I think, would want to see in this country
a kind of inhumanity that sometimes appears to be associated with the
practice of the law in some Islamic states – the extreme punishments,
the attitudes to women as well."
Well, nobody in his right mind would let Islam get a foothold in his nation in the first place.
Regardless, the bishop is a man in the mold of Neville Chamberlain — he would trade a legal Sudetenland for peace in our time. It’s a function of a fatal naiveté to believe that Islamists will be appeased if they’re given an inch, for they want Scotland Yard. Islamists have made this eminently clear time and again, and, here’s something you can take to the bank, they believe we’re idiots for being so oblivious.
Unfortunately, they’re right.
