My recent piece, "Obama: Fear and the Security Force," evoked more responses than perhaps any other article I've ever written. Many of them were very worthwhile contributions, and I've chosen three that I'm sure you'll find interesting. In the first one a reader posits a theory as to the purpose behind Barack Obama's Universal Voluntary Public Service program, and the remaining two are from people who believe that the idea is eerily, and ominously, familiar. They're worth your time. So first we have James of Florida, who wrote:
purpose of Obama's security force, if not the entire purpose, is to establish a
national militia(answerable to him) as described in the 2nd amendment. His
specialty at Harvard was constitutional law; he lectured on it during his time
at the University of Chicago. He knows the constitution intimately- the way
Patton knew Rommel. He has, no doubt, studied the wording and I think he's going
to establish a well-regulated militia of his own to provide security- why should
anyone else need to own firearms? The idea could be a hybrid of Rahm Emmanuel's
national service program joined to Obama's hatred of private gun ownership- who
knows? Turn in your weapons- we've taken care of security as well as getting
guns out of the hands of your children, street gangs, nutcases like
Cho.
Most of us look at the constitution and see
this brilliant document, clearly conceived to restrain government. Obama looks
at the same document and thinks: How can I change you? I hate you. You're
keeping me from fixing this rotten country.
If nothing else, we need to keep this from
happening; how, I have no idea. I don't know how Justice Kennedy will rule on
something like this and I'm sure that's where we're heading.

it. I saw the same thing in Cuba with Fidel Castro, I've seen
that "look" in people's eyes before as if they're transfixed.
People like that are blind, deaf, and dumb they don't reason, they're like a
horse with blinkers. Castro has the same thing in Cuba they are called
Rapid Response Units, any time there's a group, of people gathered for any
reason, here comes the so called units and start bulling everybody, taking them
prisoners, and if there's one who has followers or seems to be a leader, he or
she gets sentenced to 35 yrs in jail. You are right, it's the thugs who
are going to be in charge. You give power to people that don't know what
to do with it, and of course they're going to abuse it.

although here is much more subtle. We're in God's hands He is the only one
who can save us (we need to help Him along the way) Unfortunately you are
right in everything you say, and God bless you for being able to express it in a

I am a Cuban exiled who, as a little kid, was sent to the
U.S. via the Peter Pan repatriation program of Catholic kids from Cuba to the
U.S. What Obama wants to do is called “comites de vigilancia”
(vigilante committees). Each street in Cuba has a “comite de vigilancia,”
a family chosen by the government to “keep the peace” in the
street. These family’s job is to spy on the activities in their street.
They check who visits the neighbors and, if they are obeying the communists dictates.
The result is a terror that is impossible to comprehend unless you have lived
through it. You are imprisoned for any reason and thrown in jail without the
benefit of a real trial.
Hugo Chavez has already begun to implement his version of
the civilian vigilante force. This civilian spy network is used in every country
ruled by the diabolical communist system. May the good Lord have mercy on us
because, if Obama succeeds in implementing this plan, we will taste terror and
it will be impossible for us to fight for freedom. Once communists take power
in a country, they will not let go easily. From now elections will be won by
socialists, except for a few here and there that the powers-that-be allow to
make it look like they are not dictators. But trust me, we have lost our
freedoms.
