Allen Keyes Arrested Protesting Obama at Notre Dame
http://youtube.com/v/PiIriMYHmQQ
As some of you know, Dr. Alan Keyes was arrested at Notre Dame University this past weekend while protesting against abortion and the choice to invite Barack Obama to be the school’s graduation commencement speaker. Now, as a private entity, Notre Dame has every right keep whomever it wishes off its grounds, and it does have a rule dictating that all protests must be student organized and administration approved. Nevertheless, if the folks at the university really had respect for the pro-life position and cared about Truth, I would think that they might have granted this protest a special dispensation. After all, they certainly gave themselves a special dispensation from the spirit governing Catholic duty when they invited Barack Obama.

Notre Dame is yet another in a long line of institutions that was established and funded by Christians, only to loose sight of its purpose and turnn its reins over to the leftists. Wesleyan University produced Hillary Clinton…arrrgh, John Wesley I am sure is turning over in his grave. If I was Catholic I would not support Notre Dame…even if it meant leaving the church.
Leftists are the Borg…they do not create or produce, they just assimilate otherwise healthy organizations to their unholy collective hell.

Dr. Allen Keyes lost to Brokeback Obama in the race to become the U.S. Senator from Illinois. He lost again to Comrade Obama in the ’08 presidential election. Can it be that so many among us have it backward?
Vis a vis abortion, the February 2009 issue of the great Whistleblower magazine featured an article that explained how the horror of legal infanticide has silent opposition of growing proportions: More and more Doctors and nurses; seeing the realities revealed by increased technology in ultrasound and other areas, are refusing to work at abortion clinics. In the article (written by the brilliant David Kupelian and entitled “Fighting Back: Taking control of our lives and our country from the bottom up”) I learned that the heartbeat of a human fetus can be detected just 18 DAYS after conception.
    Fancy that!

It’s incredibly ironic that Obama’s speech and behavior at Notre Dame was humble and compassionate. Quite the opposite to responses like these from people who wish they could behave like a Christian (Matthew 3:7). The church is being taken over by religious zealots who have abandoned decency, humility and selfishness. Our voices have begun to abandon the very nature of Jesus Christ. Notre Dame, as a part of the church, should be welcoming of all people of all beliefs: that’s exactly what Jesus is recorded as doing. By allowing people of different beliefs and faiths (regardless of how contradictory to our own beliefs) join us we have an opportunity to show people God’s thoughts on things. This can potentially result in a change of heart. I congratulate Notre Dame for not backing down and opening their doors to others.

Yes Jesus welcomed people “of all beliefs,” from the beggar to the tax collector, but he did not bend his principles to suit their fancy or to make himself more popular; quite the opposite. He said: “I am the way the truth and the life, and NO man cometh to the Father but by Me.” Does that statement sound tolerant to other “beliefs” or ambiguous in meaning?
Jesus did not come to join us in the spirit of whateverness. He stood for something and so should Notre Dame.

Good point Walt. Although I would suggest that it is important to note that Jesus did not say this to just anyone. He specifically said it to his disciples (sadly, they didn’t seem to understand him). He did not say it to a group of non-believers. Look at the way Jesus treated the Samaritan woman at the well. It is hard for us to come up with fair comparison of heated enmity between two people groups where we live compared to the Jews and Samaritans back in Jesus’ day. Granted, we see hatred and bitterness from both sides of the present day “right” and “left” but I think it pales in comparison to what I have read/heard about was experienced between Jews and Samaritans. We should look to Jesus’ demonstration here as how to treat those who may not share our disagreements. To those that we feel are not living Godly lives. Jesus demonstrates a humility that is seemingly absent from a lot of the Christian discourse these days.
I could also pull out a quote where Jesus says (no less than a chapter later) “this is my command, love each other”. Perhaps Notre Dame felt that that verse was important as well.

Respectfully Brian, I have a hard time with your mineralization of the “…no man cometh to the Father…” verse because (your quote) “He specifically said it to his disciples.” Such rationalizations, if accepted, confuse and dilute the scripture to useless ratings. At this point I will not imply that is your intent but it is a common anti-Christian tactic. “The Jesus Project” is a prime example of an attempt to dilute and discount the words of Jesus and scripture in general.
I am a Protestant not a Catholic, but the reason I comment on the Notre Dame/ Obama issue is, I hate to see yet another Christian founded institution turn its reins over to the secular progressive movement. It has happened too often. For Notre Dame to allow a man who has an unapologetic record of endorsing the murder of the unborn, to speak at the commencement is inconsistent with the values of the Catholic faith.
You try to imply that disallowing him to speak would in some way, not be showing love; I disagree. Such dissent is the definition of love; love for the unborn. Alan Keys protest is not one of personal hate for Obama, but one of hate for the sin he is unrepentant of. You can love the sinner and hate the sin.
Notre Dame’s acceptance of the sinful message Obama carries with him, dilutes the Christian principles they have so long stood for. Caving in on such a fundamental belief reduces the church to nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites in the eyes of the world. The world asks, if the Notre Dame church allows Obama to speak at their commencement what else will they allow?
Cutting to the chase, socialism and belief in God are not compatible. The Church must go, either by force, by nationalization or by obsolescence. If a church will not stand for its beliefs it is just a social club; functionally obsolete.

I’m happy that Alan Keyes was arrested for doing the devils’ bidding. That student was correct in saying that their graduation shouldn’t be ruined by these idiots. No matter how you feel about abortion, it’s no one else’s business what someone else does with their bodies or their unborn babies. If you are one who doesn’t agree with abortion, then don’t have one, but you cannot tell someone else what to do with their bodies, and you cannot make decisions for someone else.
