Japan’s New Government Hopes for Baby Boom
http://youtube.com/v/eQNg1IOdRhE
Japan is getting serious about remedying the birth dearth that’s leading to the graying of its society. Its government is offering benefits designed to encourage women to have children. Unfortunately for the Land of the Rising Sun, however, governmental solutions cannot solve this cultural problem.

Demographic decline is an under-appreciated threat that imperils all of humanity but the West (and other developed nations such as Japan) in particular right now. It’s something we don’t talk enough about.

Japan is facing the same downward spiral we are in the birth race but I believe japan has a leg up in this, the fact that they are an island that doesn’t embrace suicidal immigration policies. Of all our differences, you have to respect the Japanese respect for their culture and heritage. Populations wax and wane like the seasons of the year, the west however, may be seeing its last seasons if our trend continues.

May I recommend the book (and bestseller) “America Alone” by Mark Steyn. The book deals with this issue with great insight and intellect and Steyn is a very witty chap. Great read.
