Currently there is a news story about how the geneticist who helped unravel DNA’s structure, James Watson, has come under a firestorm of criticism for saying that studies have shown that Africans are not as intelligent as Westerners.

Those scoring him have called him a "racist," unscientific, and have
characterized his remarks as baseless.  In fact, there are even those
who want him charged under Britain’s Orwellian "racial hatred laws."
(Side note: When are people going to wake up and perceive the threat
posed by such laws?  We’ll have them here soon, too, if we don’t rise
up and vanquish the politically correct thought police.)  What’s most
interesting, though, is what they did not say.

No one said his remarks were not true.

The real story here — although the Shill Media would never recognize
it — is not his comments about race and intelligence; whether they are
true or not is secondary to that to which I refer.  What’s really
shocking is that we once again see someone who is criticized not on the
basis that what he said was wrong, but on the basis that it violated leftist dogma. 

This is obvious.  Not only was the truth of his statement not
challenged explicitly, it doesn’t even seem to enter the minds of these
thought police.  And why would it?  They don’t believe in Truth, so why
would it matter to them? 

And we’ve seen this before.  Jimmy "the Greek" Snyder lost his job as a
sportscaster for rendering an opinion as to why blacks are better
athletes.  Major league baseball coach Dusty Baker took heat for saying
that dark-complected people could tolerate heat better than whites
could.  Then, Larry Summers resigned from his position as president of
Harvard University after coming under heavy criticism for saying, mercy
me, that men have a greater proclivity for the sciences than women do.
And this is just a small sampling of those crucified for committing the
new heresy.

Do you understand what is happening here?  Scientific inquiry and free
and open debate are being stifled by an oppressive ideology, by the
left’s religious dogma.  The Truth should always take precedence and be
sought regardless of whose ox gets gored.  Here, though, we see
those who place their agenda ahead of the Truth; consequently, when the
Truth conflicts with it, instead of altering their agenda or
hypothesis, they suppress or rationalize away the Truth.  Worse still,
they seek to silence those who would dare utter heretical statements. 
This does violence to the pursuit of knowledge and ultimately helps no
one.

What’s ironic here is that most of these modern-day inquisitors are
secularists who impugn Christianity for allegedly suppressing
scientific inquiry (a claim that is largely untrue).  I mean, how many
times have we heard about Galileo (his story has been misrepresented,
mind you)?  But who is suppressing such inquiry now?  Who now seems
afraid of facts?  Who are now exhibiting such formulaic devotion to a
creed that they’re even willing to imprison those who might contradict
it?  Don’t you leftists perceive that you’ve become exactly what you
have decried for scores of years?

As for racial differences, here is what I will say.  Most of these
inquisitors are people who subscribe to the theory of evolution.  Now,
when viewed from this perspective especially (although a Creationist
would probably draw the same conclusion), how is it logical and
rational to claim that every group is identical in every
non-superficial way?  We’re talking about peoples who supposedly
"evolved" in vastly different parts of the world, operating in
different environments and subject to different characteristic
stresses.  Are they really identical in every single way, thought
police?  Do you really believe that?  Please, I’d like to know.  Oh,
and can I say that blacks have darker skin and Mexicans are shorter, or
is that off limits, too?

The Truth is that there’s a multitude of differences among the peoples
of the world.  I know a gynecologist who will tell you that black women
are less likely to suffer from descended uteri because they have
stronger abdominal walls.  I suppose I won’t reveal the name of that
doctor, lest the individual’s medical license be revoked.  Then, we
know that there are certain diseases that are characteristic of or even
peculiar to certain groups, such as Tay-Sachs Disease among Jews and
sickle-cell anemia among blacks.  And we all have witnessed how blacks
dominate in the NBA and how Africans excel at marathon running.

Regardless of whether a given claim is valid or not, it should be
evaluated with a reasoned eye, and, if there is an objection, it should
only be the assertion that it is untrue.  Violation of secular dogma
isn’t a crime.  Besides, if it really is untrue, thought police, then
the Truth is all you should need to refute it.  And what are people to
think if you cannot do so and instead have to resort to nefarious
tactics?  Why, crazy as it sounds, they just may get the idea that the
Truth doesn’t back you up.
