Harry Potter and the Chamber of Perversion

J. K. Rowling, the moderately talented author who penned the Harry Potter series, has announced that beloved character Albus Dumbledore is a homosexual.  This revelation was in response to a question from a "young fan."

Mere words cannot express the contempt I feel for individuals such as Rowling.  Not content to make obscene amounts of money with her famous — and increasingly infamous — series, she now has descended into social activism and is party to the defining of deviancy downwards.

This boneheaded act only proves what was obvious to me all along: Rowling has a twisted moral compass.  Sadly, though, actions such as this do much to influence the young.  In the books, Dumbledore is the master wizard, headmaster of Harry Potter’s school and the latter’s role model.  And, since he is beloved and millions of young fans have identified with and developed an affinity for him, they will naturally want to accept that with which he is associated.  That’s just human nature; we don’t want to dislike the characteristics of those we love.

This, by the way, has been a tactic of those in the entertainment/social engineering industry for decades.  They include these lovable, often wise homosexual characters in their movies and shows, thereby causing people to develop an affinity for them.  It undermines society and, quite frankly, is evil. 

Rowling, you should be ashamed of yourself.

    I can’t believe this I just came from townhall.com and nobody takes this seriously. I can’t believe I paid good money for this crap! when I have children I will never ever let them read this filth! I’ll never look at this witch the same again how could she do this!?! now being homosexual may be cool in “Great” britian (which by the why ain’t looking so great!) but across the pond it’s not! this sick twisted woman has clearly has some issues and I agree she should be ashamed of herself. I also am glad I don’t have children (who could read this smut) and that here in America where we are doing better (not by much but we are) and I thank GOD that most of the athiests & nutjobs are in “Great” Britian!!!

    I was not amused by the declaration of Mrs. Rowling, outing the character of Dumbledore; however, I do find the above comments a little harsh.
    Clearly there were clues and hints at Dumbledore’s orientation hidden throughout the series, though too subtle for interpretation until the seventh and final installment. Perhaps this is just another way of distinguishing the later books, and the last one in particular, as a progression of age-appropriated literature. I for one would not allow children to read the seventh book until they had followed along through the first six, and grown in their reading comprehension and age right along with the central characters. Which is how mrs. Rowling meant it to be and intentionally crafted her work to facilitate!
    Furthermore, acknowledgment and tolerance (or intolerance) of homosexuality is something that the adult world must contend with, and she obviously challenges her readers to join in, just as George Orwell challenged us to read children’s literature with an interpretive mind. To entertain the notion that not one out of hundreds of characters in any given collective could possibly be homosexual, whether British or not, smacks of ignorance along the lines of Ahmedijad’s collegiate speaking adventures..

    The devil knows that his time is short on this earth, so he is trying every which way to destroy our children and families! We should open our eyes and learn to be leaders and not followers. The devil is using this woman to further his destruction of mankind, and people can’t see it, because they are blinded from the truth.

    Funny, I read all seven books, and in the end, the main character succeeds in defeating a dispicable, evil, racist totalitarian named Voldemort. And he does it by capitalising on the strong bonds of friendship and loyalty, and wisdom gained from hard-learned lessons and disciplined moral fiber! I was always under the impression that this is what He expects from His children… but maybe the devil is proficient in reverse psychology. Crap. now i’m confused! I guess he wins..

    Rowling’s “revelation” is just one of the latest of a long line of ridiculous pronouncements. Rowling has been known to play games with her fandom, and this is just another one of her calculated remarks. None of the major theorists I know have ever guessed that Dumbledore was gay. In fact, the consensus was that he had no romantic attachments or that he was in a reltionship with McGonagall. The only thing I can think of that would give relevance to this tidbit is that Dubledore could not acquire the philosopher’s stone because he lacked a female partner. Nicholas Flamel had his wife Perenelle, Harry had Hermione (who by all rights should have been his wife rather than that goldigger Ginny). I disagree with Sneed in that Rowling’s works provide moral instruction. Her work has considerable holes in her moral philosophy. Rowling makes a great deal about choices determining a person’s character only to let the reader find out that Harry and Voldemort were good and evil respectively because they were born that way. Speaking of Voldemort, he is nothing more than an exploiter of the centuries-old greivances within the wizarding world, which should have been the main antagonist (but gets relegated to exposition status)instead of Voldemort, who is only interesting because of his characterization as serial killer/terrorist.
