There is a news story about how Europe’s fear of Moslems is on the rise.  In particular, the piece focuses on the Netherlands and Iranian-born Dutch politician and former Moslem Ehsan Jami, an outspoken critic of Moslems who try to impose their values on his adopted homeland.

Europe’s fears are not unfounded, and the turmoil in Holland is
emblematic of the problem.  The small nation has seen a couple of
high-profile murders at the hands of Moslems in recent times, those of
Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn and filmmaker Theo Van Gogh.  Jami himself
has been attacked and has received death threats, so now he travels
with bodyguards.  Ah, the religion of peace.  Or, is it the religion
of piece?  There’ll be a huge piece of the world for the Islamists once
everyone else is in pieces.

Despite this, leftist Europe (not that we’re any different) still exhibits striking naivete.  Just read this quotation by Jami,

"I don’t mind if people are
Muslim, but I do mind when their values go against Western values.  We have to be very clear with Muslim immigrants that we
will not negotiate our values."

That’s nice.  How reasonable and tolerant.  The point he and most
everyone misses, though, is that, collectively, Moslems’ values will be contrary to Western values because, uh . . . well, they’re not Western values.  This is not to say that certain Moslems don’t assimilate quite nicely;
after all, there are differences within groups.  However, there are
also differences among groups.  Look, if Moslems’ values
weren’t different collectively than Western ones, they wouldn’t be
Moslems, get it? 

The only way this fact could elude one is if he
thinks that something that is so central to people’s lives, religion,
has no bearing on their values.  And the treatment of that fallacy I’ll
have to save for another day.

Jami said, ". . . we will not negotiate our values," and I have news
for him.  If Moslems become numerically great enough is his nation, he
won’t have to.  There will be no negotiation; the Moslems will simply
institute Sharia Law and that will be that.

It really isn’t easy for me to be a social commentator.  I’ve never
been one to suffer fools gladly and it’s tiresome contending with
people who have been so indoctrinated with politically correct nonsense
that they can’t compute simple political and social equations.  I’ll spell it out
once again: If you import enough Germans to your country, your country
becomes more German; if you import enough Chinese, your country becomes
more Chinese; if you import enough Mexicans, your country becomes more
Mexican.

And if you import more Moslems, your country becomes more Moslem.

Moreover, whatever group may be in question, this transformation will
include language, culture, and religion and its attendant values. 

Oh, they’re going to assimilate?  Sure, and all those pythons proliferating in the Everglades will transform into garter snakes.
