While academia can’t preach enough about diversity, the most important type of it is sorely lacking in that arena; that is, diversity of opinion.  This is reflected in the fact that 95 percent of college professors are registered Democrats.  But while we know schools have long been leftist propaganda mills, seldom do we have the kind of smoking gun a teenager named Chad Farnan has given us. 

Here’s the story.  Chad’s history teacher, Dr. James Corbett, would consistently rail against Christians and traditionalists in his class, spewing venom that made many students uncomfortable and brainwashed others.  So Chad recorded Comrade Corbett’s diatribes for two months and gathered evidence that is now being used in a lawsuit against the school.  Writes the Los Angeles Times,

James Corbett, who teaches Advanced Placement European history at
Capistrano Valley High School, consistently ‘demonstrates a sense of
hostility toward religion,’ causing Christian students to ‘feel
ostracized and treated as second-class citizens,’ according to the
lawsuit filed in federal district court in Santa Ana by Chad Farnan,
16, and his parents, Bill and Teresa.

The lawsuit contends, among other things, that Corbett told
students during class that ‘when you put on your Jesus glasses, you
can’t see the truth’; said that religion is not ‘connected with
morality’; compared Christians to ‘Muslim fundamentalists’ who want
women to ‘stay pregnant, barefoot, and in the kitchen and have babies
until your body collapses’; and suggested that churchgoers are more
likely to commit rape and murder.

As has become typical of cowardly academics, Corbett would not return calls for a comment and his principle, Tom Ressler, said,

"It’s really premature to say anything about this.  People can make allegations all they want; we have to see
the reality and context of what was said."

Of course, a cop-out like this would usually allow such propagandists to weasel out of the situation, but in this case we have those recordings.

To the credit of the plaintiffs in this case, the boy and his parents, they said that they won’t seek monetary damages if the "teacher" is removed from his position.  Let’s keep the pressure on and hope it happens.

Having said this, Cowardly Corbett is, sadly, just the outer nanometer of a very large iceberg; leftist ideologues in schools are legion and have been training good fellow-traveler foot soldiers for decades.  And if you want a glimpse of this front line in the culture war, visit www.noindoctrination.org.  It’s a site dedicated to combating left-wing hegemony on college campuses and provides innumerable testimonials from actual students who have been persecuted by fascistic professors.  It’s worth a look.

The philosophies in the schools of today will be embodied in the policies of tomorrow.
