Agricultural journalist Jerry Carlson has written an excellent article about the global warming hoax.   He  points out that the truth about climate change — that it’s simply part of a natural cycle — may start to be reported by the mainstream media.  He writes:

A
few major-media writers and TV personalities are actually reporting statements by credible scientists who are challenging the assumption
that carbon dioxide is the primary force causing global warming.

There’s
a real possibility that big-name journalists will break ranks and pursue
their next Pulitzer Prize by exposing the lack of scientific consensus
on CO2 as a planet-heating pollutant.

Of course, if these journalists were really worthy of their "big names," they would have been among the first to report this story, not the last.  Let’s remember that no small number of commentators in the alternative media have been saying that the Al Gore has no clothes for years.

Carlson also points out what I remember being warned of as a child: That we were threatened by dropping temperatures and another ice age was nigh.  He then discusses the legions of scientists who have long questioned the anthropogenic global warming thesis (you know, the one about which Gore said, "The debate is over"):

Individual
climatologists have disputed conclusions of the UN Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change even before the first IPCC Assessment Report
in 1990. The IPCC has issued a series of reports, each focusing on CO2 as the primary ‘greenhouse gas’ causing the continuing warming recovery
since the Little Ice Age.

One
of the first organized scientific counterattacks sounded on April 6,
2006. Sixty accredited experts in climate and related scientific disciplines
signed a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, urging that
billions of Canadian tax dollars appropriated to implement the Kyoto
Protocol on climate change ‘will be squandered without a proper assessment
of recent developments in climate science.’

Did this stop the politicians from wasting tax money?  I’ll give you three guesses.

One of the many challenges to the global warming con is mentioned by Carlson early in his piece:

One
such challenge comes from Dr. Bob Carter, Research Professor at James
Cook University and paleoclimate analyst with more than 30 years’
experience,  including 95 research papers.

In
an Accuracy in Media guest column in April 2007, Carter emphasized: ‘The evidence for dangerous global warming forced by human carbon
dioxide emissions is extremely weak. That the satellite temperature
record shows no substantial warming since 1978, and that even the ground-based
thermometer statistic records no warming since 1998, indicates that
a key line of circumstantial evidence for human-caused change-the
parallel rise in the late 20th century of both atmospheric carbon dioxide
and surface temperatures-is now negated.’

Carlson also discusses something that is roundly ignored but of the utmost importance.  Namely, the fact that plant yields increase as the atmospheric carbon dioxide level does so.  As to this, we ought to remember that the CO2 level during the time of the dinosaurs was five to ten times what it is today.   Why do you think the foliage was so plentiful and lush during those ages?   It was that dino industrial base.

Carlson’s piece is very long but certainly worth the read.  It can be found here.  And if you’d like a shorter and more satirical exposition on the matter, I treated the issue in an article that can be found here.

For 22 years, from 1976 to 1998, carbon dioxide level and average earth temperature both increased. This resulted in a scary Hollywood movie and world-wide global warming hysteria. Group-think developed in the climate science community where peer-review bias led to de facto censorship and a paucity of published studies that objectively investigate the extent to which human-produced carbon dioxide contributes to global warming. It has been over nine years now and atmospheric carbon dioxide level has continued to increase but temperature has gone down. Apparently no one did any real research or they would have discovered that 440 mya the planet plunged into the Andean-Saharan ice age when atmospheric carbon dioxide was over ten times the present level (http://earthguide.ucsd.edu/virtualmuseum/climatechange2/07_1.shtml ). With a little further real research they would have discovered that, in the current ice age, temperature trends have changed direction at many different temperature levels. This could not occur if there was significant positive feedback. They might have also noticed that carbon dioxide level change lagged temperature change by hundreds of years. The forced conclusion from all this is that non-condensing greenhouse gas, and therefore human activity, has no significant influence on global temperature.

    Good post Dan,
The global warming scare is a backdoor mechanism for global wealth redistribution. The wealthy have never been hard to make feel guilt for their wealth, and the poor have no problem making the wealthy feel better about it by taking what the wealth have. This is what the global warming conspiracy and the Kyoto protocol are all about.
