I must say that my eyebrows were raised by a piece by Charlotte Allen titled "We Scream, We Swoon. How Dumb Can We Get?" She writes about her incredulity at how emotion driven and bereft of logic so many of her fellow women are. Now, it’s not the subject matter that shocked me but the fact that a leftist rag like The Washington Post would actually publish something so politically incorrect. Wow . . . maybe these are the end times.
Allen’s piece is very well-written, funny and is responsible for the steam emanating from feminist heads from sea to shining sea. She starts out discussing the women who are flocking to the vacuous one, Barack Obama:
Here’s Agence France-Presse reporting on a rally for Sen. Barack Obama at the University of Maryland
on Feb. 11: ‘He did not flinch when women screamed as he was in
mid-sentence, and even broke off once to answer a female’s cry of ‘I
love you, Obama!’ with a reassuring ‘I love you back.’ Women
screamed? What was this, the Beatles
tour of 1964? And when they weren’t screaming, the fair-sex Obama fans
who dominated the rally of 16,000 were saying things like: ‘Every time
I hear him speak, I become more hopeful.’ Huh?‘Women ‘Falling for Obama,’ the story’s headline read. Elsewhere
around the country, women were falling for the presidential candidate
literally. Connecticut
radio talk show host Jim Vicevich has counted five separate instances
in which women fainted at Obama rallies since last September. And I
thought such fainting was supposed to be a relic of the sexist past,
when patriarchs forced their wives and daughters to lace themselves
into corsets that cut off their oxygen.
By the way, there are many other women who agree with Allen 100 percent; in fact, one of them is someone close to me. But who’s kidding who? Civilization has long known that women are the more emotional sex. It’s just that we deny unfashionable facts nowadays, being as we are in the grip of political correctness, which I have defined as "the denial of Truth for the purposes of promoting a leftist agenda."
I have something to say to you feminists as well. If you don’t like such characterizations, perhaps you should speak to the women who allow themselves to be led by the nose by demagogues, which in this case means being swept up in Obamania. Ah, he’s so young! And he looks so good, is so commanding and has that great voice!
That’s about all it amounts to.
Transitioning from the light to the philosophical, idol worship is a function of godlessness. If you worship God in an authentic way, He will occupy the kernel of your being and you won’t deify other men. In fact, having that divine yardstick of perfection with which to measure others, you’ll realize how imperfect we all are and will have no urge to do so. This doesn’t mean admiration isn’t sometimes in order, as a few mortals may be worthy of that. But once you start behaving as if someone walking the Earth today can also walk on water, you’ve descended into a very dangerous stupidity.
The adulation of Obama is reminiscent of that which Hitler enjoyed in 1930s Germany. If you don’t like that analogy, too bad. Both cases involve the same phenomenon: Turning a demagogue into a demigod as you’re swept away by his brilliant oratory and powerful persona. Both involve a cult of personality. And, lastly, both involve empty vessels that do what is in such structures’ nature: Making noise.
Hitler once said, "How good it is for governments that people do not think." Boy, if there ever was wisdom from the mouth of a beelzebub.
