We really do live in a topsy-turvy world. Today, no matter how based in common sense a measure might be, some people will always crawl out of the woodwork to tell you why up is down, hot is cold and left is right. One example of this is opposition to cracking down on illegal immigration.
We always hear of the "benefits" of this crime from its apologists, who will cite things such as cheap labor (oh, woe is me; who will pick the grapes?) and increased tax revenue, which, of course, cannot off-set what illegals cost the taxpayers. But a good example of the benefits of enforcing immigration law is playing itself out in Prince William County and Fairfax County in Virginia. Writes WorldNetDaily.com:
"Prince William County reported a 19.3 percent decline in crime, with
chairman of the Board of County Supervisors Corey Stewart attributing
the downturn to the hard line the county has taken toward illegal
immigrants . . . . Meanwhile, next door in Fairfax County, with the highest property
values of any county in America, reports crime up 22 percent in the
first quarter."
Call me the Amazing Kreskin, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I know where Prince William County’s illegals have gone. I’ll give you three guesses.
