Dear Mr. Duke,
By now I can’t imagine there are Americans left in the USA who aren’t aware of the Obama/Rev Wright connection. We all have seen the loops, heard the rants followed up by various excuses.
After viewing this disgusting piece of video I am thankful McCain never went after Obama for his choice of church and pastor. No good will come to our country if we continue to pick at this scab and not allow these wounds to heal.
While I have enjoyed reading your intellectually stimulating articles, this video is meant for one purpose only; to enflame racial tensions and bring further divide. I am shocked at your blatant attempt to use this video to incite fear, hatred, and divisions. Do you honestly believe your readership is unaware of the hatred and filth Rev. Wright spewed?
One of two things is taking place here. Either you’ve lowered your own journalistic standards in desparation to help McCain, in sheepish fashion too, as you have forgone your usually tag comments or opinions save the title. Or, you think your audience is stupid enough to fall prey to this scare tactic.
We know of Obama and his associations. And yes, they do scare the HELL out of many of us. But not because the color of his skin maybe be different from ours. But because his collective associations always come up on the side against America, democracy and freedom.
You’re better than this, and you know it. Shame on you!LikeLike

Vivienne:
That is some of the most left handed support of Selwyn Duke that I can imagine. I’m not sure who you are referring to when you state “We know of Obama and his associations.”
We as regular readers of this site know, we as typical Americans who get their news and views from MSM do not know. The MSM has become part of the Obama campaign, refusing to make objective observations about some of the most worrisome of BHO’s past (and present) associations. Selwyn Duke is absolutely correct in presenting this information. If it is inciteful, do not blame Selwyn Duke, blame Rev. Wright and Obama. Pick at the scab…why does the annointed one have such scabs?LikeLike
-
puke, you have got to be the most disgusting piece of filth utilizing a media outlet. I totally agree with the previous comment, and it goes even further to say what you really want this campaign to be about; race instead of the economy, the invasion of Iraq, or our falling status in the eyes of the rest of the world. I originally thought that Obama himself was caught on video saying something controversial instead of concocted, pieced-together footage. This is totally dispicable but not surprising coming from the source. Even though I don’t agree with McCain’s policies, it is however the only reason I’m not voting for him; not because he’s old, not because he has a woman on the ticket, and certainly not because he’s white! Anyone with the “Audacity” to use anything that Farrakhan has to say is obviously race-baiting and like McCain has said, there’s no place for it in this campaign, and it shouldn’t have a place on your blog.

Viv,
You are wrong on this one. It is shocking how many even conservitives do not know about Wright, Ayres and Alenski. People are changing their vote every day because thy eventualy listen to the truth. Americans are brain lazy for the most part. They would rather watch dancin with the stars, the world series, or football then spend just an hour checking the facts on the Pres. cantidates. Who he hangs with is the foundation of his being. This part is ugly and a hard pill to swallow but America is too good to let this guy have his way with it.LikeLike

Dem,
The fact that some guy who likes McCain used Faracan as a shock tactic is not a good reason to vote for the Obomunist Manefesto.I am ticked because lib Larry Flint made a porn movie about Pailin…that is a way lower blow. Faracan and Wright are buddies…Wright and Obama are buddies. Is concern and further study not prudent? Naaaah it is only the President of the USA.LikeLike
-
Walt, please don’t be ticked about the porn movie. After all, she was selling her supposed “sex appeal” at the V.P. debate by winking and smiling seductively at the camera, or at Joe Sixpack, or whomever, simultaneously exibiting the most unprofessional behavior of a politician in recent years. After all, she’s a woman who is totally against the improvement of the women’s movement but yet cries “sexism” if she’s asked a tough question, or about anything pertaining to her new expensive wardrobe when she originally presented herself as a Wal-Mart loving hockey mom, but now she has to wear Armani and the like. She reduced herself to the field of sex object, instead of elevating herself to a new level of professionalism never seen before in a serious woman candidate for one of the top jobs in America. Please, don’t be angry at Flint for capitalizing off of the foolishness of American conservatism, you know, the same ones who brought us a “C” student as President for the past 8 years, and who’s now willing to pass the buck off one of the most under-read, ill-informed knuckleheads that may or may not look decent in a skirt and high-heels. Naaah, it’s only the candidate who may be one heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Dem…Newsflash…Saturday night live is not a news source. Because Palin is attractive does not mean she lacks substance. The lib underground “press” has ruthlessly demeaned Palin and all attractive women.
Now, your attempt to vilify Palin and change the original topic is not going to work! I encourage every one to thoughtfully dig into the real Sarah Palin, John McCain, Barrack Obama, and Joe Biden. Forget long legs, blinking eyes, stiff arm, dark skin, find out who these people are. Dig deep on all of them!!! Oh she winked at the camera! is not an issue, or oh look how much McCain blinks is not an issue, or McCain got a “C” in school, or Palin went to the University of Idaho…NOT ISSUES.

I’m happy that you know that SNL isn’t a news source, being that I haven’t watched it in recent years. However, I DID watch the V.P. debate, and I watched her demeanor while answering her own set of questions, reading from an obviously pre-written response sheet, and repeatedly winking at Joe Sixpack. I don’t find her attractive, and I’m pretty sure there are others who don’t think so either, but please, don’t ever talk about someone avoiding issues because you have two candidates on the conservative ticket who do nothing but. The fact remains, that she is as dumb as the day is long, and no matter how you dress a “pitbull in a skirt” or “pig in lipstick” or whatever she calls herself, anyone with a remote amount of intelligence won’t find her to be so.

Walt, she is definitely smarter than you. And the part about Palin being attractive is left up to the person beholding her looks, but it is in no way a qualifier for anything of a professional need…. a porn movie, perhaps, but in the executive branch, I don’t think so. In that arena, I would much better prefer a more intelligent individual than an unintelligent one. If there are any doubts, just look at the past 8 years.

Trinity Church broadcasts its sermons over the internet weekly. And as with most churches with popular pastors, libraries of tapes of sermons are available. How is it that people making a case against Wright never found more outrageous sermon material. Obama claims that while the pastor occasionaly made controversial statements he never heard him say anything like that while he was attending. Considering Obama claimed that for a long time he was there every Sunday at 11 someone could have turned up one tape or even far more than one tape if this was the sort of material being spouted every week? Church ladies love to keep copies of old sermons. Could it be that the Reverand Wright’s sermons were fairly conventional and inoffensive?
I can’t imagine anything easier than finding a smoking gun to make this case. “Here is this tape dated xx/xx/xxxx and we know Obama was sitting there. But in eight month’s time no one came up with anything. We are supposed to believe Trinity is a radical church where hate speak and resentment against the white community was going on right under Obama’s nose. Obama claims the Trinity he attended was a church dedicated to the teaching of Christ and the bible and very active about servicing the community. It should have been a slam dunk to prove otherwise. Everyone opposed to Obama says he sat there for twenty years listening to hate speak. They say they can’t believe he didn’t hear it. Prove it. It wasn’t that hard a job. The evidence was and is there on tape for anyone wanting to make Obama a liar. What most people are basing their opinion on is three minutes of Youtube. Tune in this Sunday and start recording that hate-speak.LikeLike
-
Robin,
The point of the three minutes of Rev. Wright was for people to take note and do their homework. Although it is a pretty damning 3 minutes (no pun intended) that is hardly the extent of the radical nature of the church. I ask you to surf their website and founding documents. Read the stuff out loud. For a reality check substitute the word white for the word black when you read it. If you do that you will get a true perspective of how radical and crazy this whole black liberation theology is.LikeLike

I appreciate the polite response. I think what this comes down to is leading people to the edge of the cliff of conclusions and without pushing them, lead as many as possible to jump off. The suggestion is “this is scary stuff” go see for yourself. Black liberation theology isn’t scary. Its helpful. Its just politically expedient to make it scary.
Inserting white for black into their materials doesn’t lead me to offensive conclusions. Attending churches here in Los Angeles I attended an event called The Kirkin o’ the Tartan held each year which celebrates pride in my Scottish heritage. Ronald Reagan even wrote an open letter to the event. Having a fierce pride in my native heritage even though I wasn’t born in Scotland is something I can appreciate.
Black churches in urban areas deal with the needs of their congregants and this includes a lot of disfunction people that grow up in neighborhoods like mine don’t have to deal with. Part of the healing is taking pride in yourself and your heritage. All cultures in America go through this stage of congregating with one another and developing a supportive group identity. The Irish, the Italians, the Jews, the Asians all have gone through this, some still are. Blacks are still going through this stage and have furthur to go.
My first encounter with Black liberation theology was in the film Boyz in the Hood. In it the father, Furious Jones, gives his sons an eye opening orientation to some of the things going on in the neighborhood that they take for granted and don’t see. Some of it may be construed as paranoia, but it has its function and clear headed wisdom.
Let’s deal with Farrakahn. Not a member of the church but honored for his contributions. I am of the same opinion as Dennis Miller when he appeared with O’Reilly on FOX.MILLER: Well, listen, I’m of two minds on Farrakhan. “Evidently, you know, obviously, there’s the hatemonger part of him, which is, you know, really bizarre and repellant to me. Then there’s the self-determinism part of me which I quite frankly find — there’s some wisdom in that part of him.”
And this is true. Farrakhan is all about blacks taking responsibility for themselves and their community. Not taking handouts. Supporting their own businesses. Taking pride in themselves.
I have only attended a black church twice but I have to say it was amazing and a positive experience. When these folk go to church they enjoy the hell out of it. They are fired up and they leave feeling good. Which is more than I can say for a lot of the staid Lutheran/ Presbyterian/ Episcopal denominations I have attended. And I dare say if you watched a sermon from Trinity online next Sunday I doubt you’d be offended or frightened. In fact you’d probably be encouraged and edified. But if that happened of course that wouldn’t support your position that Trinity is a scary scary place where Farrakhan appears and teaches white hatred.
Unfortunately I can’t take the time to flesh all this out. But I think in the political process people are encourage to not think through things and listen. And rather it is a time to cling to sound bites and cheer everything our candidate says and boo and hate everything the other candidate does. Hopefully now that the election is over there is time for sanity and substance again. And not so much attachment to demonizing.
I think my point was I’d have been right with you if you could have made the case Obama was lying about Trinity being a church that spread weekly hate and Obama sat through it. Rather there was a generalized suspicion based on a couple youtube clips. I am jumping the gun by 20 hours but I would say a good part of the reason McCain lost the election is the direct line was never drawn to Obama. And that isn’t the fault of the mainstream media. There was plenty of antagonistic press who could have presented the smoking gun if it existed and plenty of time to find and produce real evidence.
The conclusion for many was these were empty fears being played on for political purposes. If there was substance to them, you didn’t make a worthy case.LikeLike

What’s for certain is that you can’t shove knowlege into an unprepared, under-read brain like his, so there’s no need to respond. I appreciate the fact that you have gone to those churches and at least attempted to understand them, whereas most ignoramuses like John just look for reasons to criticize and point fingers, as if everything in his community is perfect. Everyone else is allowed to celebrate their heritages, build businesses and communities that are tight-knit without complete alienation, but whenever blacks do it, it’s anarchy, and something for the white race to fear. Idiots like puke and his legions of ignorant followers are nothing more than extreme racists hiding behind the keys of a computer, and are completely in hog heaven wallowing in their B.S. It’s obvious that they don’t like confrontation and knowledge, and fear it so much that they will try to insult you in order to discourage any further interactions with a far more superior thinker. Thanks for the encouragement Democrat.
I am a conservative persuaded out of many of my long held views that for this time in history no longer fit and it was time to apply different principles. After reading the websites of the major candidates, and their takes on the issues Senator Obama impressed me. A year ago he had he had all his policies in line. Scores of them in outlines and spelled out in detail in PDF documents 5 to 20 pages long. I always marveled at the pundits who claimed he was a mystery and we didn’t know what he stood for. I liked McCain but he was still writing his financial and health care policies in August and September. So I am thrilled to have Obama as a choice. I too got a thrill up my leg listening to him back in January. So I am going to go have some fun in Pasadena and celebrate the best choice I ever had for a president…at least since the second term of Ronald Reagan. Obama represents the America I always dreamed of living in.LikeLike

Robin and Democrat,
“Obama represents the America I always dreamed of living in.”
Thats a scary phrase to me as Im not sure if your perception of Obama is the same as mine. I just hope all my fears of the man are unfounded and all his comments are just twisted soundbytes.
1. Creating a “civilian defense force” scray
2. Bypassing legislature to use the Supreme Court in “redistributive justice”..again yikes
3. The comments about the Pennsylvania commoners
etc etc
I will confront you on another issue though. You mentioned that all races are allowed to congregate but when blacks do it its scary, well I have to call B.S on this. Although in practice, all races tend to congregate with the like kind, in our culture everybody BUT whites are encouraged to have racial solidarity. Hence the NAACP vs NAAWP etc. Its a heroic moment for civil rights when you establish the local mestizo dental association but when if I establish the white chess board Im racist and unAmerican….just a thought for ya.

Shaun, you really could have kept your half-baked thought because like all others coming from those like you, they lack true substance and not to mention, an ounce of truth. There is a MAJOR difference in the establishement of the NAACP and a copy-cat, racist-filled NAAWP. How would you like to go to school and only learn that your ancestors came from slavery, while all others accomplished things beyond their wildest dreams? The majority of this country has always had opportunities, whereas most of the opportunities for blacks came withell-fought legislation. It is a well-known fact that even though the American blacks’ ancestors were slaves, they still accomplished many things, although speckled and scattered because they lacked a true opportunity in those days. In the beginning of the NAACP, they were trying to ensure that laws would protect the black population, and after those things were won, they decided to attempt to give a community something to hope for and be proud of, instead of carrying around the shame of coming from slavery. What has the NAAWP done besides attempt to continue the divisiveness and evil of the past? So please, if you are going to compare and contrast, do so with equal groups. And why would you like to create an all white chess club? That’s the most ridiculous thing one has ever heard. But then again, who cares. A bunch of idiots playing a meaningless board game deserve each other.

Democrat,
Its obvious well disagree on this but you have validated my point. Why would you create a Hispanic mathematics club? I dont know..but my university has one. Would it be racist to have a white mathematics club? You tell me.
As far as the NAAWP..I see your cynicism but the fact remains I intended to call your accusation that we single out black solidarity when only the opposite is true. Back to the rest of your accusation..what is so horrible about the NAAWP and what they stand for:
1. Removal of institutional racism..Affirmative Action.
2. The horrible notion that we actually secure our border…I know its an extremist point of view right!
3. The ongoing struggle to preserve European culture as a seperate special identity..(again thousands of minority groups openly celebrate this)
4. Finally..the fear of what will happen to a white minority with a past like ours…such as Zimbabwe or South Africa.
I know there our a bunch of legitamate “hate” groups out there that are idiotic and easily defeated( I really dont if the NAAWP is one of those, I just used it as an example) but in closing if our culture is geared antagonisticly towards any “race” , my dear Democrat it’s most definitely the White Race.LikeLike

“Shun” and john-boy, you two are the most foolish of all bloggers, besides one by the name of walt. you all prove every point that I happen to mention, and without fail, you fail to understand the true meaning of anything. The only reason you see people as “celebrating” the white heritage is because they have been forced to do so, as if blacks, hispanics, asians, etc. have nothing to be proud of. As if their accomplishments should automatically be placed at a distant second. No mandatory ciriculum here! And surely, if you all were truly that intelligent, and you want to continue your “whites only policy,” you would evolve with the times and find some new ways to accomplish your goals instead of the 1960’s way. After all, the right to bear arms certainly no longer applies to only your kind. I’m pretty sure other ethnic groups find their heritage and accomplishments “special and a separate entity.” You guys are idiots, and that’s for certain.

And another thing john, it’s not about white people having anything to apologize for, but if whites don’t, then no one else does either. I can imagine if another ethnic group stole your ancestors and used them for hundreds of years as free labor (and this applies to blacks, hispanics, asians, and others who have built this country with their blood with little in return without a hard fight), I’m pretty sure you would want their apologies. After all, you want an apology for the Rev. Wright thing. And you can most certain keep holding your breath.
Also, my typo, in the previous post, I misspelled curriculum. There, that’ll give you conservative nut-jobs something to rant about for 9 months.LikeLike

Demonrat, as usual you’re wrong. I don’t want an apology from Rev. Wrong. I never even thought about that. It would just be hollow anyway. Unlike you I care about sincerity. I don’t need empty apologies.
But that doesn’t mean we’re talking about the same thing. I as an individual never owned slaves (my ancestors didn’t either). So I as an individual have nothing to apologize for. But Rev. Wrong as an individual did make disgusting, racist statements. So as an individual he does have something to apologize for. But again I don’t care. I don’t need apologies from lowlifes.
And everyone has ancestors who were persecuted. You would know that if you had ever studied anything other than black history.
And don’t worry about the misspellings. You don’t have to worry about your reputation. No one thinks you’re educated anyway.LikeLike

You guys are pathetic. I love the drive by nature of your comments. This election seasons victory should at least embolden you to use your real name, but I suppose pot shots are your style. I guess I need to use an alias now to keep the personal attacks out of the argument? But then again from that point you may not engage in an argument unless a spelling or punctuation error gives you entry. Can’t we just keep it on topic…You all clearly have the intellectual advantage, why not just use that.
Although I think the USA made a horrible mistake yesterday, I hope I am wrong. I must tell you although I do not at all care for the values of BHO he does not scare me as much as many of his disciples. His mantra “Change” means many things to many people. Some hope the American dream is dead. Some hope change means a full departure from capitalistic endeavor and entry into a socialistic new age. Some hope change means black power, Black Panther style. I just don’t know what BHO has planned for the US; he was brilliantly ambiguous through out most of the election season. All any of us had to judge him on were a few Marxist slips and his past associations. I HOPE I assumed too much on BHO…I would love to be wrong.LikeLike
-
As a closing comment amidst all the humor, my opponents have reinforced my beliefs about hard core liberalism in America:
I have made two distinct points which are as of yet unchallenged:
1. Racial solidarity is encouraged in minority groups and villified in white groups. This is in response to an earlier comment. This doesn not bode well for white americans or for an American future period.
2. Id like someone to explain to me how supporting the points I posted earlier is “racist” or morally wrong. I for one am skeptical about diversity: Astronomically out of preportional rate of black on white crime, the massive redistribution of wealth in the form of grossly inefficient social programs, double standards, lowering our educational standards to accomodate minorites..doesn’t seem like a plus to me.
In closing..my critics here(and most places) use name calling and “Ad hominem” as a ready made defense. Rarely ever are issues addressed logically. I appreciate your(democrat) previous analysis of the NAACP but understand I never said anything about it except to point out that a white civil rights group is labeled “racist” for saying the same thing. That scares me…Am I to become a thought criminal under Obama’s regime?

Walt,
I think that if you knew me, I’d be one of the people who “scare” you more than Obama. And I must tell you, that people who express the views you have strike me as simply…evil incarnate. But like you, I hope that I am wrong!
Part of the “change” I hope for is that we both can change our opinions of each other. (And that change is justified by reality.) But until it takes place, Americans will continue to drown while you pull the Lifeboat to the Right and I tug it to the Left, and the waves keep rising over the side of the boat.
Since we’re on his site, I think I should mention Brother Duke. You often seem to support his position and follow his lead. When you do that, you have to remember that Duke is a revolutionary. And despite the constant profession of it, Truth never got in the way of any revolutionary’s ends.
So, I’m sorry if your feelings were hurt during our exchanges. I forget that some on your side are actually sensitive to that style of rebuke. Although as far as “personal attacks” go, I believe your opening remarks generally fit that category of commentary. That’s okay though.
But, I’m willing to stop it if you are. Maybe we both can start to change right now.
