Most of you have heard of progeria, the rare genetic condition that causes children to exhibit symptoms that resemble aging. Well, this is a story about a girl who is, in a way, stuck in time; she now should be an adolescent but still has the physical and mental development of a toddler. This news piece was done when she was 12, but today, at 16, she still looks the same.

The girl is the only known person in the world with such a condition and doctors are stumped as to the cause. However, they believe that studying her case may provide insight into the aging process.

    Selwyn…Are you nuts?
    Nobody’s ever heard of Progeria! I thought it was one of those odd little countries in the Balkans. And so did you, till one of those strange researchers at the John Birch Society found that video for you. I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. I had to turn it off when they started talking about that poor kid’s seizures and stuff. What the heck was the point of that whole thing? You trying to come off as compassionate or just trying to weird us all out? Well, if that’s the case…it worked. Duke you are one strange guy.

    What a very interesting story.
    This beautiful child is a quirk in human development but she is as valuable to humankind as George Washington or Jonas Salk.
    Let us, the subscribers to selwynduke.com, pray for this precious child. May we approch the throne of grace to celebrate this extraordinary life; may we beseech the Almighty that this precious girl enjoy a life of love and fulfillment regardless of her earthly handicap and may we that are more physically fortunate learn from the profoundly beautiful struggle of this sweet child and her adoring family that we might cherish life in all of its forms, quirks, absurdities and breathless majesty.
    Amen.

    You are the very type of self indulgent poser I despise. I’ve had the misfortune to follow your comments as posted here for the last couple of weeks. They sicken me. You are a corrupt, misguided fool and only seek to “annoy and irritate” anyone unlucky enough to find themselves within your focus.
    I have also read your pathetic blog which I cite herein, rayhickslovesyou@blogspot.com not to advertise your filth but to provide an example of what we as Christians and decent Americans must fight to eliminate from our social fabric.
    On the pages of that disgusting blog you encourage abortion, ridicule the Holy Bible, offend our Armed Services, and attempt to make fun of beliefs and values any common citizen of our Republic would hold dear.
    They say that evil has a common face Mr. Hicks and I think that it is yours.
