Boy Refuses to Say the Pledge of Allegiance in Name of Homosexual Agenda

Most of you have no doubt heard this story. It's about Will Phillips, the 10-year-old boy in Arkansas who refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance with his fifth grade class because American doesn't really provide "liberty and justice for all." What bothers the brat is that homosexuals' pretense at marriage isn't sanctioned by the government and there are still "racism" and "sexism" in the world.

There are so many troubling aspects to this story. First, it's a prime example of how children are being inculcated with destructive lies today. Second, I consider it child abuse when his father sanctions such behavior and sits next to the brat in the interview as if his son just reinvented the wheel. Third, it illustrates how we've completely lost touch with the hierarchy that should exist in society. What I mean is, 10-year-olds don't make these decisions in a sane nation — they follow the rules or get a spanking. Fourth, when they are allowed to flout rules like this, it completely undermines discipline and order in a classroom. After all, anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows what happens when young children see that they can get away with violating the rules. And, lastly, students in school don't have First Amendment rights, no matter what the activist Supreme Court says.

Oh, I suppose some won't like it when I call Phillips a "brat." Well, sorry, but I won't be like Bill O'Reilly and give him credit for having spunk. It is only the worst of spoiled brats who take Phillips' position. Bad parents, bad child. It is not to be applauded.

If the children are our future, our future may be very brief.

    Most kids just go through the motions of saying the pledge of aliegance every day; they don’t even think about what it means.
    It’s just a formality.
    And who says that kids have to say it or else? Why shouldn’t those who don’t want to say it be allowed to abstain?
    This kid is not a brat but one who can think for himself. The fact that he refused does not necessarily mean that he has evil,left-wing parents who are trying to make him anti-american. I don’t know what his parents are like.
    America is supposed to be a free nation.
    Kids should not be forced to say the pledge. And what purpose does it serve anyway ? Does it make kids better citizens?
    I doubt it. There’s no real need for it anyway . It’s about time our schools got rid of it.

    Subject: Consequences of Homophobia Movie Night and Discussion Dec. 3rd 6:30pm
    The Faulkner County Library is proud to announce a Doc and Talk Movie night and discussion concerning the consequences of homophobia. The documentary to be screened is For the Bible Tells Me So. The screening of the film will be followed by a community discussion and presentation by Mary Lou Wallner of T.E.A.C.H. minsitries. This movie night and presentation will take place on Thursday, Dec. 3rd at 6:30pm. The films will start at 6:30 pm followed by the discussion. The community is welcome to participate in the discussion following the movie. There will be free popcorn and drinks! Help the library reduce and reuse by bringing your own bowl for popcorn!
    The documentary, For the Bible Tells Me So asks, “Does God really condemn loving homosexual relationships? Is the chasm separating Christianity from gays and lesbians too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate?
    These questions and more are answered in this award-winning documentary, which brilliantly reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture – and reveals that religious anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a misinterpretation of the Bible.
    Through the experiences of five very normal, Christian, American families – including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson – we discover how people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child or family member. She and her husband, Bob, are strong allies for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexual and Transgender people. The mission of T.E.A.C.H. ministries is To Educate About the Consequences of Homophobia through public speaking, brochures, workshops, videos, books, and any and all other appropriate means.

    This is an absolute disgrace. There is absolutley NO WAY in heaven or hell to reconcile homosexuality with The Bible.
    The lies propounded by what you have pasted here is what is being inculcated into our children. Among these lies the biggest one and that is the suggestion that one is “born” homosexual (“the way God made them”).
    This is an OUTRAGE!
    Now before Robert Berger sets down his bong to comment, I have personally delievered (well, God gets the glory for their deliverence) but I have ministered to homosexual human beings that changed their ways after seeing the Light of God’s Word. There are dozens, if not hundreds of ministries that devote their lives to reconciling these lost and enslaved souls to Christ. This would be impossible if this was “the way God made them” just as much so as if, through prayer and outreach, one could turn a hippopotomus into an ostrich.
    This is an affront to God, our Creator.
    Great article Selwyn and yes, the boy is a “brat” and his father is derelict in his parental responsibility.

    America IS a free nation. You are just thinking like the jews who just got released from Egypt. You think “free” means you get to do whatever the hell you want. Freedom isn’t free and freedom comes with obligations.
    Its also typical of people like you to just take the freedom you enjoy so much for granted. This goes right along with the types of people who like to burn the flag. They hate the country, which grants them freedom, but if a police officer came to show them some respect with his nightstick, they’d scream ” YOU CANT DO THIS. ITS FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION”. Hypocrisy.
    This kid is ass backwards anyway. He should be pissy about his state, not his country. There is nothing in the US constitution that says anything about marriage. Marriage is a state issue, not a federal one. The future looks bleak, kids, and adults that behave like children, don’t even know how this country that they supposedly don’t like even works.

    By the way , I’ve never used marijuana or any other illegal drug, nor do I have the slightest desire to do so. Life is interesting enough without these things.
    And I am not anti-american , don’t hate this country or the military.
    In fact, my late father was a career Army man in the Judge Advocate office, and I’m not the least bit ashamed of this.
    Refusing to say the pledge does not necessarily mean that you are one of those stereotypical left-wing wacko extremists like Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn and Ward Churchill.
    This IS a free country and no one of any age should be forced to say a pledge of any kind.
    And what homosexuals do in private is no one else’s business. And please leave it to GOD and God alone to judge them. That’s not for us to do.

    If you aren’t willing to pledge your allegiance to a country then you aren’t even at the first step to being trustworthy of having the privilege to live here. Thatd be like refusing to promise to remain faithful to a person you were about to marry.
    People like you will espouse day and night about how certain things wont harm someone else, so whats the harm in doing/not doing them. Well, whats the harm in asking someone to say the pledge? You say that them not saying it wont necessarily make them an anti American. But will making them say it damage them in some way? Between the 2 choices of “putting up a shield, that may or may not be effective” and “not putting up a shield because it might not be effective” The former is clearly the superior, by far, choice. Your line of thinking is a big reason why this country is falling apart and why we are so weak. Everyone, including you, take their freedoms for granted. If people hate this country so much, they could try living somewhere else and see how they like it there. I think givin the circumstances, saying the pledge is a VERY small thing to ask.

    Dan, I’m sorry but you comment became a mash of word salad. I think you were trying to say that the pledge may do some good and probably wont do any harm so why not enforce it. That’s a pretty poor reason for a pledge, a stronger argument would be that the pledge creates a feeling of fellowship amongst the speakers although that’s somewhat contraversial. Hysterical Phil seems to think that questioning the pledge makes us all into psychopathic serial killers, which considering my generation were the last to get it and I haven’t noticed a huge upswelling in anti patriotic killing in my juniors seems at least debatable.
    re the be nice to homosexuals movie that phil has totally lost his coll about, the premise seems to be that it is a good thing to treat homosexuals as fellow human beings. WOW, call the fundie hit squads! Tolerance, non-violence, respect for other human beings! What would baby Jesus say? What ever Philip thinks the “gay” people around him have done in response to his obvious disgust with their desires and make up should be taken with a massive grain of biblical salt.

    Hohoho! Happy Holidays! This kid is sooooo spunky! He wants to be a lawyer when he grows up. awwww how cute. Just a bit of advice, though. He might want to grow up a bit before lawyering up in front of national media cameras.
    His argument is that pledging his allegiance to American ideals of “liberty and justice for all” would be in direct contradiction to the observational conclusions that he has drawn of our Nation’s societal structure and culture.
    That’s nice.
    But his observational conclusions are not exactly based in legal reality. If he really fancies himself a legal eagle, then he may want to stretch his mind out a bit and quit swallowing so much Kool-aid (although at his age, Kool-aid is perfectly acceptable lol)
    1st of all, gays and lesbians are perfectly free to marry. No matter what state they live in. They are at liberty to enter into a contract of marriage with anyone they choose so long as it is with a single person of the opposite sex, and only one at a time!
    2nd, he spouts that “racism” and “sexism” still exist. But he may want to read up on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act 1964, 1991..
    If it’s cultural racism or sexism that he has a beef with, then fine. But the Pledge of Allegiance is to the Flag, and the Republic for which it stands. It’s not a pledge of allegience to me, or that guy on the corner, or the Cincinatti Bengels. It’s a pledge of allegiance to the REPUBLIC. so if he doesn’t feel comfortable with the republic he lives in, then why should he feel comfortable with the Civil Rights legislation enacted into law by said government? hmmm? oh wait. That might be too much logic for a 10 year old to work through. Better to just go with those emotions for now………….. and get on t.v.

    This kid is ten years old for cryin’ out loud! Who cares about his opinion on anything? Why is he on CNN doing a parody of one of the characters on that TV show about science nerds in the first place?
    Remember that “Balloon Boy” scam some nitwit dad ran that shut down Denver International Airport not so long ago. I wonder if this is not much different. What does a ten year old know about homosexual issues, even if he is what he looks and sounds like?
    Clearly, his father is not a man doing his job as a parent. You’d think the least he could do is go to Wal-Mart and get them both a collar shirt to wear on national TV. And, if he didn’t put junior up to this himself, he might want to think about getting the kid boxing lessons.
    Overall, I don’t buy it. Things are rarely what they seem on the surface. This is too well packaged as a human interest story to be anything but another reason for those who do hate and revile homosexuals to laugh at any serious criticism of our country on those issues.

    If you are homosexual you are a homosexual,period. You cannot,and should not try to stop any one from being gay.
    It’s no more reprehensible than being left-handed. And I’m a southpaw, but heterosexual. You and other self-righteous Christians have absolutely no right to interfere with gay people and try to coerce them to be what they aren’t.
    And to call homosexuality a form of mental illness is just plain stupid. Thank heaven that it was taken off the official list of mental illnesses by psychologists and psychiatrists.
    And don’t call me a bigoted and intolerant of Christians. I’m not.
    I have no problem with people being Christian. It’s just the appalling agenda of some of them I and other liberals disapprove of.

    If we are going to move forward as a nation, we have to recognize that fundamentalist Christians as a group are a potent political force. They are fixated principally on three sexually based issues – abortion, stem cell research and homosexuality. They have dug their heels in on all three and no matter what, are not about to budge. (Stem cell research will just be perfected in Europe.)
    So give them that. It’s not perfect and it’s not right, but if there is not a concession the Christian block is going to stop any progressive measure that comes down the pike.
    Give it to them. It will hurt some certainly. But, there can be ways to take the sting out of it. And giving them ground on those issues and allowing a harmless nativity scene or two on public grounds will take the wind out of their sails and let the ship of modernity pass their boat and leave them in the wake.

    In this thread is a teachable moment about how the left is deceived and how they spread deceit, either wittingly (which is evil) or unwittingly (which is irresponsible).
    During the debate, Vern said this (regarding what he described as fundamentalist Christians):

    The liars on the left have crafted the dialog to portray that conservatives, Christian or otherwise, oppose “stem-cell research”. Here is the lie: It is not stem-cell research that conservatives oppose: It is the FEDERAL FUNDING of EMBRYONIC stem-cell research that we oppose, and for good reason. This is a slippery slope leading to the extermination of viable life.
    What you ninnies fail to understand is that stem cells are abundant. They can be drawn from human skin. There is nothing wrong with adult stem-cell research and, in fact, some cures have come about through this study that border on the miraculous.
    Furthermore, keep the Federal government out of the sciences! This only serves to politicize what should be objective research. Just look at the Global Warming (whoops! The earth isn’t warming, it’s actually COOLING) er, Climate Change debate. It has now been exposed, thanks to some hackers in Russia, what we conservatives knew all along: That the climate change argument is a hoax and a fraud.
    I must also ask, how on earth are abortion and stem-cell research “sexually based”, as Vern alleges?
