If anyone should feel loved right now, it’s social commentator Juan Williams. His firing by National Public Radio (NPR) for comments he made on Fox News’ O’Reilly Factor has drawn harsh criticism from all quarters, left, right and center. And I join this defensive phalanx. Sacking a man for saying that he gets “worried” and “nervous” aboard a plane when he see people “identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims” with their traditional garb is an example of political correctness run amuck. Heck, Williams was merely giving voice to a disquiet felt by a majority of Americans.

And if any entity should feel unloved — and unlovable — it’s NPR. Not only was their action grossly unjust, but then we found out that it might have been taken in response to a complaint from the Council on American Islamic Relations. The station has also been disingenuous, claiming that the pink slip was rendered because NPR commentators “should not participate in shows … that encourage punditry and speculation rather than fact-based analysis,” yet never applied this standard to its very own speculating, fact-bereft Mara Liasson and Nina Totenberg. To top it all off, station President and CEO Vivian Schiller struck a mercenary note, saying she was “profoundly sorry that this happened during fundraising week.” Islamist-leaning, dishonest, and greedy, NPR casts itself as the perfect villain and Williams as hapless victim. He has become just a bit of a martyr and a bit more of a hero.

But not so fast. Does it occur to anyone that Williams has been victimized by a politically correct environment that he, as a decades-long supporter of the Left, is partially responsible for creating?

So, when Juan Williams exercises his free speech, and expresses what 90% of most Americans feel when they board an airplane with several folks dressed in black robes with only a slit for their eyes….he should be fired? I dare say none of us escape this feeling when we are faced with this circumstance. It doesn’t mean we hate Muslims. What it does mean is this…Muslim terrorist killed nearly 3,000 souls in one attack on 9/11. A Muslim terrorist killed 11 of his own men when he as a physician turned on his own fellow soldiers who had no “conflict” with him at all. A Muslim terrorist attempted to ignite a bomb in his shoe aboard an airline. A Muslim terrorist attempted to ignite a bomb attached to his crotch while aboard an airplane. These are only a few of the emotionally charged incidents that have been related to Muslims. How then can we tell if a Muslim is a terrorist or not? The simple answer is that we can’t….but our minds and our feelings go there, whether we like it or not. The bigger question begs for an answer. Can we, in the name of Martin Luther King, see the day when “little boys and girls, hand in hand, be judged by the content of their character”…when the tone of “severe restrictions”, “religious laws”, and “penalities of death”…loom over our heads preventing the free social exchange that normally surrounds a civilized society? The Muslim “blockade” seems impenetrable. A culture that advocates stoning of women for adultery, the cutting off of hands for punishment of thieves, the whipping of women for their dress, etc. cannot be assimilated into our western ways of life and living. To allow even a remnant of this philosophy to prevail anywhere on the grounds of this nation spells disaster. We beg to integrate. We beg the lifting of the veil. We beg the free exchange of normal social responses. Let our sons and daughters come together to hold hands, date, with the freedom of an open mind…with their own chosing in our land of freedom and liberty…without some “honor killing” standing over their heads. It is difficult to remove hate and animosity….and suspicion. If you want to see it fade away, remove the severe restrictions, remove the severe punishments, remove the severe limitations afforded Muslim women…and it will fade into oblivion. Muslims are not hated in our country, but Muslim terrorist instill in all of us a feeling of uneasiness when we are placed in the presents of robed and veiled human beings on an airplane….we have become conditioned to such a feeling. Juan Williams was right on target, and NPR should be defunded for such a violent response to such a normal reaction expressed by anyone.

Bailey, did you actually read the article? Duke said just what you said. But he’s right about Williams. Lots of conservatives have been hurt by the pc environment he helped create.

You are 100% correct. This feeling of uneasiness is the manifestation of a rational conclusion of a statistical fact. 99.99% of terrorist attacks around the world, and on planes are caused by Muslims. Its like jessie jackson(or al sharpton, i cant remember which one it was) who is worried when he hears someone coming up behind him in a dark alley, then is relieved when he sees its white person. Cause white people aren’t as likely to mug you as a black person. Sorry all you liberals if that statement offends you. But of course the very definition of a liberal,a hater of truth.

Many of you have read that my beloved sister was present in the Twin Towers on 9/11 as an employee of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Until that moment, I was politically apothetic (please understand that I was a hard-working young father and that I was always suspicious of mainstream news).
After this unprecedented tragedy, I became deeply interested in world affairs. The first place that I turned to was NPR out of sheer ignorance and owing to its easily-accessible presence. I listened as commentators such as Mara Liason and Nina Totenbrg reported the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I was witnessing with my own eyes. It boggled my mind that we no longer had a HUAC that would have and should have imprisoned these seditious insects for treason!
As for the Council on American-Islamofacist Relations, you better be aware and prepared that this organization is an (as yet) unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Fondtaion trial. THEY ARE TERRORISTS WHO SEEK TO IMPOSE SHARIA IN AMERICA!!!!!
    Lastly,
The assault on speech that is protected by the first (read that again: FIRST) amendment of our Constitution MUST be upheld, even by you insane liberals.
I first noticed this assault when then-L.A, Dodgers GM Al Campanis spoke candidly and truthfully about black athletes being bred for strength, speed and endurance. He was absolutely correct and he was fired. This was wrong. Very wrong. Later on, Jimmy the Greek made similar statements and was fired. Another blow against our First Amendment and another lurch toward totalitarianism. Let me ask you infantile liberals, if only your politically cowardly opinions can be heard, what happens when you run astray of the orthodoxy – which, inevitably you will? Will you cry to ME for justice, and how will you expect me to react?
What about Marge Schott? She was the owner of the Cincinnati Reds when she made some racially insensitive remarks. Was it not her right as an American entrepeneur to make these remarks? Of course it was. She was suspended for operating a team that she OWNED!!!!! How is this just? Answer: It is not. Let me ask you: If you are a racial minority, would you not be better off knowing that a person like Marge Schott is a bigot by her public testimonies than if someone like her concealed her bigotry owing to public pressure? Modern liberals have it EXACTLY backward.
How about Don Imus and the Rutgers women’s basketball team controversy? I am no fan of Don Imus but I will defend what he said to the death. He said, “They look like a bunch of nappy-headed ho’s”. That was an OPINION. Whether or not you agreed or disagreed with this OPINION is arbitrary, but Imus is entitled to express it freely under the Constitutional laws of our Republic. He did not say that the women WERE “nappy-headed ho’s” – that would have been libel (unless most of them actually exchanged sexual favors for money or other compensation). He said that – in HIS OPINION (however bigoted it was OR was not). Do you liberal a-holes want all thought, expression and opinion to be under political scrutiny? If so, by whom? By what legislative power? And what will you do when your own thoughts, expressions and opinions diverge from the hegemony (which they inevitably will)?
Who will be left to save you? It is then that you will beg for Sarah Palin to save you. It is then that you will beg for Michele Bachmann, Marcia Blackburn, Sue Myrick, Christine O’Donnell, Sharon Angle, Carly Fiorina to save you. You will beg for Chris Christie, Jim DeMint, Jeff Sessions, Paul Ryan, Darryl Issa to save you. And save you they will all try their best. You better pray to whatever whacked out, false god (which is most commonly your own self-loathing ego) you worship that they can.
Vote Republican next Tuesday. It is not that Republicans deserve your vote and I am not a registered Republican (for the record, I am registered in the State of California as “Declined-to state”). The Democrat-Marxist-Socialist assault on freedom and individual liberty MUST BE STOPPED and our voices should be LOUD and CLEAR!
Oh, say does that Star-Spangled Banner YET wave…
