People such as me are often accused of wanting to return to the 19th century. But, if the New York Times is right about a new trend, some on the Left want to go back to the Middle Ages. What is that trend? Avoiding soap, deodorant, and even bathing regularly. Today, though, it’s often for environmental reasons.

It seems that top-notch Western hygiene has now joined SUVs, Wal-Mart, tobacco (not the wacky kind — it’s in fashion), guns, McDonald’s, and white males in the Museum of Politically Incorrect Persons, Places, and Things.

For example, Guardian writer Kira Cochrane tells us about 51-year-old environmentalist Donnachadh McCarthy, who boasts that he’s gotten his water consumption down to about “20 litres a day,” that he’s “as clean as everyone else,” and that he’s trying to reduce his “carbon footprint.”

If I were Donnachadh, I’d be more concerned about my stink footprint.

The white man’s burden was his stewardship, wich was among other things – making sure the savage washed-up and changed clothes.

This calls to mind the turn-of-the-century European aristocrats who would have a colonoscopy and deliberately have their bowels circumvented in favor of a colostomy bag because squatting to defecate was apparently “beneath” them (no pun intended).
Liberalism is a mental disorder. This disorder manifests itself largely in the wealthy elite who, largely, inherit their wealth rather than having earned it.
I have had the “privilege” of meeting “JoAnne” Pfister, heir/heiress of the Price Pfister bath fixture fortune. “JoAnne” was born as Joseph Pfister. He thinks that he has changed his sex when all that he has changed is the physical composition of his body by cutting off his manhood and taking hormone therapy to grow what some might mistake as female breasts.
Trust me: It is heartbreaking to see an individual in so much misery and one so terribly deluded to have undergone such a tragic transformation (mutilation, in my view, is a more appropriate term). The doctors who perform such mutilation defy their Hippocratic Oath and should be jailed, if not exected.
The fact and truth is: Mr. Pfister is still a man; albeit one without a penis and one who has artificially-induced “breasts”. He is still as tormented believing that he is now a woman, perhaps worse (judging by my direct observations) than he was as a spoiled-brat, neglected child who fell into unimaginable wealth without ever having lifted a finger to earn it. What does this tell you about the welfare state?

This reminds me of the government’s push for the use of the fluorescent bulbs instead of the incandescent bulbs. The reason behind this is because of it being “eco-friendly”. I think that this is funny due to the fact that:
    1. The light bulb is supposed to last longer that the incandescent bulb and it doesn’t.
    2. The bulb actually contains mercury and is toxic if broken.
It is sad that the government is advocating these products that are not good for the environment, and they say that they are. The only thing that they got right was that the bulb does use less energy, but not to the extent of the cost of what it takes to dispose of it effectively.
This is just another stark reminder that goes along with Mr. Duke’s argument that leftist government is advocating atrocious ideas instead of addressing the real problem, the country’s future.

Right-wing extremists may bathe daily, but that doesn’t keep their reactionary,theocratic,anti-choice,homophobic, anti-poor,anti-life,anti-freedom agenda from stinking to high heaven.
Conservatism is a mental disease. At least what masquerades for conservatism today.People like Selwyn and Philip make Archie Bunker look liberal, progressive and broad-minded.
The tea partiers can protest all they want, but unfortunately, they support politicians who are infinitely worse than Obama,Pelosi,Reid, and Biden.
With freedom like theirs, who needs tyranny?

You know why they call the Republican party the GOP? That’s because all it offers is a lot of political gop!

Wow, easy there Mr.Berger. You might shoot your eye out with those ad hominems slapped everywhere. I can understand if you do not agree with Mr. Duke’s post, but you have no evidence to back up your claims of “conservatism [being] a mental disease”. Your frustration is understandable, but please good sir, have a feasible argument that can be supported by evidence. By the way, I am curious to know what politicians the right-wing “nut jobs” promote that are infinitely worse than Obama,Pelosi,Reid,or Biden. I would like to know to in order to see your side of the argument more clearly.

I, for one, am looking forward to the intellectual battle that A High School Student has laid down the gauntlet for vs. our resident demagogue, Robert Berger.
Our Student-friend is prepared to clean the clock of a fifty-something know-nothing; proving (as though we need proof) that leftist-liberal-progressive ideology has no merit whatsoever and that Mr. Berger’s defenses thereof are indefensible.
Way to go, Kiddo. Prepare thyself to lead thy people!
    PS We’ve got your back.

I’m a demagogue? I don’t even have any followers or influence of any kind over society. I’m just a moderately liberal classical musician. I wouldn’t even want any followers or influence over people, other than to get a lot of more people in America to love classical music.I’m not a socialist,Marxist or communist and have never been one and have never had the slightest admiration for Stalin,Lenin,Mao Zedong,Castro,Che Guevara,Pol Pot,Ho Chi Minh ,Hugo Chavez,Howard Zinn,Noam Chomsky or Ward Churchill.
But there are plenty of right-wing bad guys living and dead who are no better than these rotters.

May I ask you a question good sir? May I have a list of the “right-wing bad guys” that you mentioned? I would be very appreciative. I know that there are plenty of bad people on both sides of the political spectrum, but I want to know WHO these people that you dislike so much. If I were to know these people I might have a better understanding of your argument. Oh, and by the way if you are not socialist, Marxist, or communist, than how are you a liberal? I am sorry if this is harsh, but I am confused.

There are awful people in Washington like Jim De Mint,Michelle Bachmann,Louie Gohmert and many others on the right whose vision for America should be frightening for any sensible US citizen.
Most liberals in America are not socialists,Marxists and communists, including me. Neither is Barack Obama, nor are Pelosi,Reid,Biden,et al.
But today, any one who is even slightly to the left of Archie Bunker is automatically assumed to be a communist. That just shows you have far right America has moved on the whole.
It’s not that the liberal Democrats in Washington ar eperfect.
Hell no they aren’t.But the right wing in Washington today and elsewhere is the American Taliban.
Maybe not as violent, but just as bacward.
It’s ridiculous how terrified right-wingers in America today are so terrified of communism coming to America under Obama.
There’s about as much chance as this happening as Osama Bin Laden converting to Judaism and settling in Israel.

I understand that you think that right-wingers are bad, but there is a point where I do not agree with you. The right-winged people, including me, should be afraid. There is an unbalance of power in the three branches of government. I think Mr.Steve Ramey (gathered from http://www.talkgwinnett.net) is correct in his explanation of this unbalance. He says,
“[w]e now have all three branches attempting to perform the duties of one or both of the other two and all enacting laws far reaching into our personal lives, threatening our security. Whenever a congressman, a member of the judiciary or the president behaves in such a manner as to go beyond their scope of duties, we should let them know we do not and will not accept it. Examples are: Executive orders that become law; Legislation from the bench and Representation that does not reflect citizens needs/wants or is not authorized by the Constitution”.
This is an accurate synopsis of one of the many things that worry us right-wingers. If these branches are not balanced and their duties go unchecked, the reigns of the proper government are thrown away and true tyranny will hence come forth. The checks and balances along with judicial review, need to be put back into place so that each branch stays with in its jurisdiction and that they do the job that they are supposed to do. With out these safety measures, the branches have pretty much free reign to do what they want. This gives them too much power and it is well known that the more power that is given to someone or a group of people, the more likely corrupt that they will become.
This Mr. Berger is what I am afraid of. I don’t care if you are liberal, libertarian, conservative, independent, or what ever party that you might associate your self with. If a group of people were to have the power over the three branches, the ramifications would be detrimental and could and would be the beginning of the end of our country. This is why the midterm elections are so important, this is why the grass-roots Tea Party movement is in an uproar. They realize what will happen if the country is ran by elitists. They know that our freedoms and liberties would cease to exist. I apologize for my rambling, but reading your comment has stirred up some of my deeply guarded fears and beliefs. I don’t like big government and I never will.
