The Western consensus is that Vladimir Putin is dangerous and perhaps even crazy. But some are essentially making a similar claim about Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. Far from a hero, these observers aver, the ex-comedian is actually a bumbling leader whose missteps threaten not only his own nation’s existence but that of the whole world, as he nudges the United States toward possible nuclear confrontation with Russia.

Finally someone agrees that this Zelensky guy is not only not a hero, he’s probably just stupid. You could also say we’ve entered a new phase in our domestic politics by adding a new category of politician to our long standing Stupids, Evils and Stupid Evils. Yes, right here, Selwyn shines the light on our emerging Crazies. They’re not exclusive to Eastern Europe after all.

I believe, based on reason and a source I have, that this situation is far more perilous than most people think. I believe that continued escalation makes the chances of civilization-ending nuclear war quite high.
“Passion governs, and she never governs wisely,” wrote Benjamin Franklin. Too many people appear to be reacting emotionally, letting their personal antipathy for Putin govern policy. This is unwise and dangerous.
