• Are Enlistments Plummeting Because Military is Now a Woke Joke?

    Politically CorrectBy Selwyn Duke

In every mass shooting’s wake, there are understandable complaints about mentally ill people acquiring guns. Yet the U.S. military is apparently putting guns in mentally ill people’s hands, as it’s now recruiting individuals “with a history of ‘self-mutilation,’ bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse,” as USA Today has written. The reason why concerns a problem that has only worsened since this report, too.

To wit: Armed forces enlistments have been plummeting, with Americans either unqualified or unwilling to join, write Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North (ret.) and David Goetsch in a recent Town Hall piece. Worse still, they lament, the situation isn’t being remedied because the powers-that-be won’t even acknowledge the problem.

  • Think Tank: “British Efforts to Enforce Equality Have Led to a Woke Totalitarianism”

    Scales of JusticeBy Selwyn Duke

The irony of emphasizing equality of outcome is that this state can only be achieved through unjust inequality of opportunity. This is only one problem, too, with what an outside-the-box thinker might call our favorite modern heresy, Equality Dogma. This phenomenon is still intensifying in America — and if you want a taste of things to come (unless we change course), just look at Great Britain….

  • Fusion, Not Green Confusion, Can Fuel World of Tomorrow

Loving Couple on BeachBy Selwyn Duke

When hearing the term “fusion” today, many people may first think of Asian restaurants. Yet this is only because fusion power technology — which holds the promise of delivering clean, abundant energy forever — is ignored amid continual talk about wind and solar. This is a shame because while the latter two technologies are wholly unworkable, fusion’s practicality has a basis in science and, claim some, is fairly close to no longer being science fiction.

Aside from the fact that the wind doesn’t always blow and the sun ever shine (not to mention cloudy regions), a major problem with wind and solar is that they’re extreme low-intensity energy sources; meaning, they don’t produce many watts per square meter of land devoted to the technology. As an example, meeting the United States’ energy needs with wind would require an area three times the size of California.

This makes it not only unrealistic, but also environmentally perilous.

  • When Joe Caved to Joe: The Real Manchin Con

    Donkey-ElephantBy Selwyn Duke

Upset and disappointed, many felt betrayed when Senator Joe Manchin cut a deal with ultra-left-wing colleague Chuck Schumer and created the laughably named "Inflation Reduction Act." Yet anyone thus aggrieved should consider a simple fact: As of June 2 of last year, Manchin had voted with Joe Biden 100 percent of the time.

That’s 100 percent — as in voting with Nancy Pelosi every time.

And he has voted with the Democrats over his career’s course approximately 80 percent of the time.

  • Abortion Extremism: Liz Warren Signals the Left’s Total War Aims

    Baby in WombBy Selwyn Duke

There was a time, not really all that long ago, when leftists still claimed they wanted abortion “safe, legal — and rare.” Now they’re raring to go and destroy unborn human life and, in particular, those who help it enter and flourish in this world.

A prime example is Senator Elizabeth Warren’s fevered attack on crisis pregnancy centers in which she accused them of “torturing” women and demanded they be “shut down” nationwide. She said this, mind you, about facilities that do the good works of helping mothers who want to keep their babies deliver them safely and negotiate post-birth maternal life.

We’ve seen this phenomenon before. There was a time when, Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, people appreciated….

  • Iran Boasts of “Nuclear Warheads” That Can Reduce NY to “Hellish Ruins”

    Nuclear BlastBy Selwyn Duke

Weakness invites aggression. Foreign nations have certainly been feeling their oats the last 18 months, too, with Russia’s Ukraine invasion and China threatening the United States and Taiwan. Now Iran is also roaring, saying it could create nuclear missiles that would turn New York City into “hellish ruins” — and will do so if the United States or Israel “makes any stupid mistakes.”

  • Baker’s Dozen Dems Pushing College Loan Relief Have Themselves HUGE Student Loan Debt

    Greedy ManBy Selwyn Duke

Some call it a conflict of interest. But it turns out that 13 Democrats who support some degree of student loan cancellation have themselves $1.5 million in educational loan debt. One of these congress members, Grace Meng (D-N.Y.), claims that her aim in advocating the relief is “to address racial and economic equity issues.” In reality, however, since most low-income Americans don’t have college degrees, student loan forgiveness represents a transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich.

  • The Covid Lockdowns: A Crime Against Humanity?

Big Man Stepping on Small ManBy Selwyn Duke

“Study: Lockdowns Save NO Lives. Are Politicians Destroying the Economy for NOTHING?” So wrote The New American (TNA) on April 23, 2020 — in the “pandemic’s” early days. It was one of many examples of TNA and other individuals and entities warning over and over again, early on, that the Covid lockdowns were ineffective at halting disease spread and actually deadly.

Yet the establishment “experts,” the same kind of people who last year said inflation was “transitory” and 20 years ago that the world would end in 12 years because of climate change, didn’t listen. They were following the science — the political science. Death and destruction ensued.

  • Some Republicans, Driven by Politics on Marriage “Gay,” Now Say “Yea”

    Linked Male SymbolsBy Selwyn Duke

Approximately 20 years ago, then-prominent commentator Bill O’Reilly remarked on his erstwhile Fox News show that Americans would “never” accept faux (same-sex) marriage. As recently as 13 years ago, all 32 states that had voted on the matter rejected government faux marriage recognition. A year later, in 2010, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton still pretended to believe that marriage was between “a man and a woman.” They later “evolved,” as politicians like to put it, and now the public has largely followed suit, with a May Gallup poll showing that 71 percent of Americans and 55 percent of Republicans believe these unions should be governmentally recognized. There’s a word for this: inurement.

Thus is it not surprising that, as ABC News puts it, some “Republicans see good politics in [the] same-sex marriage bill.”

  • Dr. Climatelove or: How to Learn to Stop Worrying and Love CO2

    CO2 in SkyBy Selwyn Duke

How much of the air we breathe is carbon dioxide? A typical answer, one writer states he hears, is 20 percent.

The actual figure is four one-hundredths of one percent (or 400 parts per million).

“How can such a small magnitude of CO2 be dooming humanity?” ex-professor Ron Ross, Ph.D., then asks, posing what he says is the “one point that can get people off the global warming obsession train.”

The gas’ atmospheric concentration isn’t readily divulged because, if it were, CO2 couldn’t be a global-warming bugaboo….
