• As Pope Says Sorry to Canadian Indians, Does He Even Know What He’s Apologizing for?

    American IndiansBy Selwyn Duke

There are 7,000 beautiful stories people aren’t hearing, including his own, famous Cree playwright Tomson Highway said about Canada’s much-maligned Indian residential schools. “Nobody’s interested in the positive, the joy in that school [I attended],” he elaborated, talking to the now-defunct Huffington Post Canada in 2015. “Nine of the happiest years of my life I spent at that school. I learned your language…. Have you learned my language? No, so who’s the privileged one and who is underprivileged?”

Highway speaks for many Canadian Indians. Despite this, Pope Francis is now in Alberta apologizing for the very institutions the playwright was defending. The issue involves Francis because the schools, though created and funded by Canada’s government, were largely administered by the Catholic and Protestant churches.

The pope is issuing his mea culpa for missionaries’ “policies of forced assimilation and abuse” “that Indigenous children endured at mostly church-run residential schools,” to combine two matter-of-fact “hard news” statements made by ABC News and The Guardian, respectively, as the mainstream media harmonizes its message on this story. But how does this jibe with Highway’s testimonial or, for that matter, a now-deceased woman chief’s claim that many alleging abuse are lying for money? Are these unheard Indians masochists?

Or are the mainstream media sadistically mangling the Truth?

  • ‘Elites’ on the ‘Commoners’ Food Woes: Let Them Eat Bugs

    OppressionBy Selwyn Duke

It’s a myth that Marie Antoinette, responding to the plight of hungry Frenchmen who had no bread, said “Let them eat cake.” What’s not a mere product of imagination, however, is that many of today’s pseudo-elites have adopted the attitude “Let them eat bugs.”

At issue is a greentopian “sustainability” movement, recently advocated by PBS, in which pseudo-elites seek to replace meat with insects in the diet of humanity — or, at least, in that of the 99.9 percent of humanity who aren’t the pseudo-elites.

Unsurprisingly, the United Nations is pushing this, but the British government is also on board, and factories have already begun producing bug-based food.

  • “People Will Do What They Do”? Bomber Destroys “Satanic” Georgia Guidestones

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

“People will do what they do,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in 2020 when asked about a left-wing mob’s destruction of a Baltimore Columbus statue. Well, more people did “what they do” on Wednesday, when an explosion severely damaged the “Georgia Guidestones.”

Called “America’s Stonehenge” by boosters and “satanic” by critics, the 42-year-old monument was humanistic in nature, calling on civilization to “guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity” and to keep “humanity under 500,000,000.” Achieving the latter would, of course, require eliminating most of the Earth’s eight billion people.

Not long after the explosion (security camera footage below), the severely damaged guidestones, deemed unsafe, were demolished completely. Their demise evoked approbation from some and reprobation from others, but a simple point is too infrequently made:

Is such a crime surprising when prominent left-wing figures have spent years tacitly encouraging the mob destruction of monuments? Lawlessness is contagious.

  • Internet Cheers African Trophy Hunter’s Murder. But Was He Really a Wildlife Savior?

    Angry ApeBy Selwyn Duke

“Hunter Was Hunted,” reads the headline. The story concerns the murder of professional “trophy hunter” Riaan Naude, found shot to death next to his Toyota truck, which had become disabled on a lonely hinterland road in Limpopo, South Africa. The killers, two men we’re told, fled in a vehicle after stealing the victim’s firearm. But apparently there are some other people with as little regard for Naude’s life as the murderers:

Most of those commenting on his death on the Internet.

Evoking this reaction is that Naude ran the business Pro Hunt Africa, which offers “eco-hunting” safaris in which people pay hefty sums to bag African wildlife, including giraffes and “Big Five” game such as lions and rhinos. Pictures of Naude posing with such felled creatures inspired comments at MSN.com such as “It’s called Karma. Good riddance” and “Yes, good riddance to BAD RUBBISH. One less useless human mouth to feed.” But what if, just perhaps, something seemingly unthinkable is the case?

What if Naude was actually serving as a wildlife savior?

  • Highland Park Shooter: Left, Right, or Just Wrong (Like the Popular Culture That Spawned Him)?

    Confusion-Traffic SignsBy Selwyn Duke

It sure didn’t take long. Aside from predictably using the July 4 Highland Park shooting as a vehicle through which to push anti-gun laws, the mainstream media have also rushed to portray perpetrator Robert Crimo III as “right wing.” A local Chicago news channel claimed he had ties to a “far-right overseas group” while the Daily Mail called him a “Trump-supporting youngster” based on pictures he shared on the Web. In response, other media have pushed back, stating that leftist passions are reflected in a majority of Crimo’s relevant postings, one of which includes his pronouncement “I am a liberal.”

Yet while the latter perspective seems more accurate, are both “sides” missing the deeper point? As to this, question: If you’re a confused young fellow bereft of firm principles living in, let’s say, a land with a Marxist spirit, what perspective will convenience likely compel you to embrace? More on that later.

  • Murdoch Wedding: A Tribute to the Left’s Destruction of Western Culture

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

“We will make the West so corrupt that it stinks,” goes a saying attributed to communist Willi Muzenberg. If old Willi really did thus vow, he might have been looking down (or up?) and smiling this weekend beholding the wedding of one of billionaire media tycoon Rupert Murdoch’s granddaughters. No, the event wasn’t Drag Queen Story Hour or a prurient “Pride” parade, but perhaps that’s the point: It reflects how today’s moral corruption isn’t just an artifact of atomized fringe elements, as the cultural pollution spewn from societal death factories rains down on the wicked and well-intentioned alike.

The Daily Mail ran a long piece replete with photos showing the wedding, of Murdoch granddaughter Charlotte Freud to one Luke Storey, a rapper. It was a dichotomous affair, taking place in the quaint English countryside but attended by some odd characters, including a man in drag as a “bridesmaid.”

  • Flooring the Fakery: Biden Now Blames Gas Stations for High Prices as China Cheers

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

Joe Stalin blamed small-businessman farmers, the kulaks, for the Soviet Union’s 1920s food shortages. Now another Joe, he of Biden fame, has his own scapegoats — for the rising prices his policies have wrought. And the latest targets are gas station owners.

The kicker: These businessmen earn very little selling fuel.

No matter, though, Biden’s scapegoating drew praise — from the communist fascist Chinese government.

  • Biden Admin: Don’t Worry, be Happy — High Gas Prices Fuel the “Liberal World Order”

Back to School DuncecapBy Selwyn Duke

One of the Biden administration’s seldom recognized triumphs is that it has enabled the average American to easily double his car’s value.

All you need do is fill up the tank.

While campaigning in New Hampshire in 2019, Joe Biden promised to “end fossil fuels.” This likely won’t happen as China, India, and Russia — anywhere beyond the West, in fact — won’t be following us into the greentopian abyss. But with gas prices near $5 a gallon, critics worry that the administration’s policies are only ending American prosperity. And now there’s news maddening them further:

In a let-’em-eat-cake moment, Biden said Thursday that energy prices must remain high for “as long as it takes” to defeat Russia; meanwhile, one of his officials just admitted that Americans are being bled at the pump to fuel the “liberal world order.”

What this “liberal” order might be — with China being a fascistic ethno-state, much of the Muslim world Sharia obsessed, South America slouching into socialism, and Russia being Russia — was not reported.
