“Truth is the first casualty of war,” the apocryphal saying goes. This certainly appears the case with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, too. On the one hand, most media reportage holds that Vladimir Putin’s forces are poorly and under-equipped, ineffective, demoralized, are sometimes sabotaging their own military, and that Ukraine is wounding the Bear mightily. A good example is a new Foreign Affairs article titled “Putin Is Going to Lose His War.”

On the other hand, Colonel Douglas Macgregor (ret.), a highly credible source, speaks for a minority of voices in maintaining that all the billions in weaponry the United States is sending to Ukraine won’t change the outcome — Putin is going win his war. So the truth is hard to ferret out. But now a voice from the front lines, so to speak, lends credence to the latter position….

Commit malpractice — gain control. While this doesn’t appear a recipe for success, it absolutely is working for the World Health Organization (WHO). This entity did, after all, claim the coronavirus couldn’t be transmitted person-to-person and then sabotage the investigation into whether the pathogen emerged from a Chinese lab. But this isn’t stopping the Biden administration from forging an agreement that would give the world body control over your life and those of our fellow Americans.

The kicker: The WHO’s head is a Third World ex-(and maybe current) Marxist who, though not a doctor, was given the opportunity to mismanage health crises in his native Ethiopia.

What is the statute of limitations, so to speak, on slavery-based claims such as “reparations”? No one has provided any such time frame despite slavery having ended in the United States back in 1865-’66. But one academic has offered a different kind of specificity: estimating how many minorities each white child will have to support under reparations models.

While approximately 70 percent of Americans oppose giving the handouts euphemistically known as “reparations” to descendants of black American slaves, there are stark racial/ethnic divides on the issue. “Most black Americans, 74%, favor reparations, compared with 15% of white Americans,” related the New York Post in 2019. “Among Hispanics, 44% favor reparations.” What’s more, the effort has gained great traction in the Democrat Party.

It may gain more traction, too, if Professor Emeritus Gunnar Heinsohn, who has taught at the University of Bremen and the NATO Defense College, is correct.

Given that researchers have discovered a correlation between funniness and high IQ, it’s not surprising that liberals have long portrayed conservatives as humorless. But now some liberals are sounding an alarm:

Conservatives not only own a large share of the political humor market, they warn their leftist brethren, but are besting them. And because ridicule “is man’s most potent weapon,” as socialist Saul Alinsky averred — and because kinder forms of humor can endear people to you and win converts — these inroads should be taken seriously.

Introducing us to some liberals thus counseling is Politico’s Ian Ward, who recently wrote that for “the past three years, Matt Sienkiewicz, an associate professor of communication and international studies at Boston College, and Nick Marx, an associate professor of film and media studies at Colorado State University, have immersed themselves in the world of conservative comedy.” They found that conservatives are winning the humor war and detail their findings in their new book, That’s Not Funny: How the Right Makes Comedy Work for Them.

Yet some may say that what’s funny is that libs ever thought they had a monopoly on being funny — or that they ever even led that competition.

The mainstream media never miss a chance to portray Christianity as deficient, and a recent WaPo article touting “Jewish” girls’ academic superiority over their Christian peers may be a good example.

Labeling Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen as models of “Jewish” female success, The Washington Post cites a study finding that “raised Jewish” girls “have ambitious career goals and prioritize their professional success over marriage and motherhood,” as the paper puts it.

In contrast, WaPo quotes a non-Jewish girl named Mandy as saying, “I think the biggest thing that a mother can do is to be with her kids. That’s the greatest thing over her career.”

CNN’s Don Lemon once comically defended Antifa, stating that they had to be anti-fascist because it “says it right in the name: Antifa, anti-fascism.” But if the actions of a pro-Antifa “journalist” (along with 2020’s 600+ riots) are any indication, the abbreviation certainly doesn’t stand for “anti-fire and arson.”

Can we have even a chance of electing honest politicians when saddled with a dishonest media? This question could come to mind in light of a recent controversy surrounding GOP Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters.

Video obtained by NBC news, footage that has since gone viral, shows Masters explaining his opposition to the ill-conceived Equal Rights Amendment and fielding a question about a left-wing talking point that just won’t die: The male-female wage gap.

The 1984 film The Terminator frightened audiences with a nightmare scenario: being methodically hunted by a powerful, artificially intelligent, definitionally psychopathic robot that never rests and won’t stop until you’re dead. But truth isn’t just stranger than fiction, but also sometimes scarier. And perhaps proving this is that Chinese scientists are developing small autonomous drones that can operate as a swarm, avoiding obstacles and performing various life-saving functions — and, warn some, also a terrifying life-taking function:

Hunting humans, using facial-recognition technology to identify their hapless targets.
