• The Rise (and Fall?) of Post-religious America

    1746135_lowBy Selwyn Duke

The 2006 documentary film Jesus Camp chronicled the events at an evangelical children’s ministry camp in, ironically, Devil’s Lake, North Dakota. Portrayed was hope and fear, both induced by the same idea. That is, the evangelical camp organizers and a left-wing talk show host featured in the film all agreed on one thing: that the Christian movement in question was poised to transform the nation by raising up “right-wing” foot soldiers for Jesus. In reality, though, the hopes and fears were unfounded, as America’s secularization was already quite obvious in 2006 — and was continuing apace.

Revealing how far along this phenomenon is, is Deseret News’ recently released Faith in America Survey (FAS). Conducted by the Marist Poll, it “sheds light on the state of faith in America, and how Americans of different backgrounds do or do not incorporate religion and faith into key aspects of their lives…”

  • Feminists Complain About “Gender Dogma” — While Pushing Gender Dogma

    Female SoldierBy Selwyn Duke

The battle between “transgender” and feminist activists has been heating up in recent years. The former want access to women’s sports and spaces to the chagrin of feminists defending their own special places. Yet generally unnoticed is that this war has been sparked by an underlying philosophy that, in a way, both groups share.

This issue is epitomized by two recent stories. The first is a Newsweek piece entitled “Gender Dogma Threatens to Pulverize Women's Rights,” which laments how women are being “erased” via policies that recognize men claiming to be women as in fact female. The second is an MSN.com-hosted feature entitled “The Lego survey that showed gender stereotypes are still alive and well,” which tells us that the Danish toy company “wants to say goodbye to [sex] stereotypes.” On the surface, the two stories appear to have little in common.

But what if the assumption used to attack sex “stereotyping” is the precise one enabling the MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, a.k.a. “transgender”) movement?

  • NY Times, MSNBC Partially Blame CONSERVATIVES for Cancel Culture

Back to School DuncecapBy Selwyn Duke

The New York Times editorial board recently proclaimed in an article title, “America Has a Free Speech Problem.” This was picked up by MSNBC, which had a Monday panel discussion about the matter. The good news is that both liberal media organs agreed that cancel culture is a problem, that it has a chilling effect on speech in America. The odd news is this:

Both claimed conservatives were partially responsible for it.

  • Does the World Now Have Its First Anti-feminist President?

    Arm-wrestling-Man vs. WomanBy Selwyn Duke

A year ago, Sweden declared itself as having the first official feminist government. Now we may have another milestone: the first avowedly anti-feminist president.

  • Nuclear War: “Zelensky Is Effectively Requesting That We Commit Suicide Over Ukraine”

    Nuclear BlastBy Selwyn Duke

The Western consensus is that Vladimir Putin is dangerous and perhaps even crazy. But some are essentially making a similar claim about Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. Far from a hero, these observers aver, the ex-comedian is actually a bumbling leader whose missteps threaten not only his own nation’s existence but that of the whole world, as he nudges the United States toward possible nuclear confrontation with Russia.

  • Trans(con)fusion: When Men Claim They’re Women, They Can’t be Rapists

    Linked Male SymbolsBy Selwyn Duke

Last year, Loudoun County, Virginia, authorities were accused of covering up the school-restroom rape of a 14-year-old girl by a “trans” boy in a skirt. But hospital officials in Britain have gone this one better (read: worse):

They “told the police that a patient could not have been raped because her alleged attacker was trans,” reported The Telegraph.

The kicker: The sexual assault was captured on a hospital security camera.

  • Americans Are Demographically Ignorant — Largely Due to Media Malpractice

    Mixed-race StudentsBy Selwyn Duke

What percentage of the United States is black? Non-black Americans guess 39 percent. Black Americans say 52 percent. The actual figure?

    Twelve percent.

Americans also suppose homosexuals and lesbians constitute 30 percent of the country. They’re actually just three percent. People further believe that 26 percent of our population has a $500,000-plus household income; the real figure is one percent.

The above are just some data from a recent YouGov poll finding that with few exceptions, Americans are seriously detached from their country’s demographic reality. It’s a phenomenon with grave social and political implications.

  • CRT Meets Sweeney Todd: Congress Now Aims to Control HAIR Standards

Boot on Declaration of IndependenceBy Selwyn Duke

You might’ve thought there was conflict in Ukraine and a threat of nuclear war, an unrelenting invasion across our southern border, and skyrocketing prices poised to further decimate the middle class. But apparently all that is just background noise as Congress is finding time to tackle what really matters: regulating hair standards nationwide.

At issue is the CROWN Act (H.R. 2116), with the acronym meaning “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair.” Introduced by Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) and passed Friday by the House of Representatives, with all 221 Democrats and 14 Republicans voting yea, the bill seeks to prevent hairstyle “discrimination.”

  • Writer: “Creepy” Biden is Projecting With His New Civil Rights Cause

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

He’s not exactly Roman emperor Tiberius, who reportedly would swim au naturel with young boys he called his little “fish.” But whether it has been sniffing young girls’ hair, touching them oddly, delivering unwelcome kisses, or talking about children manually brushing his leg hair in a pool, Joe Biden has raised many an eyebrow. Now he’s raising them again, too, with one writer saying he took “creepiness to a whole new level when he discussed ‘a new civil rights cause of action’ for people whose naked images ended up in the hands of blackmailers.”

  • Harvard Doctor Professes the “Transgender” Faith

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

Famed Harvard is our nation’s oldest institution of higher learning, founded in 1636 as a religious college for the training of clergymen. It’s still religious, too.

Its theology has changed a bit, though.

This was evidenced in an article published at Harvard Medical School’s website entitled “The care that transgender youth need and deserve.” It’s more a statement of faith than of science.

Author Claire McCarthy, though a practicing pediatrician and Harvard professor of pediatrics, doesn’t bother us (or herself, apparently) citing any medical evidence to support her assertion that children can be stuck in the body of the “wrong” sex. She does, however, use the word “feel” or “feeling” nine times in her short (594 words) piece. This is neither surprising nor insignificant.
