Proving that Democrat governor George Wallace might have been quite prescient when infamously proclaiming in the 1960s, “Segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!” Twenty-first century Democrats are again singing that tune. The latest example is how a Denver-area elementary school has planned a “families of color playground night.” Proving that equality isn’t exactly the educators’ bag, however, there’s no report that they intend to hold a corresponding “people of no color playground night.”
In fact, there’s no report that people of no color have as yet been identified. (Of course, perhaps they just can’t be seen.) But The New American will be sure to apprise you of any such discovery being made.

“There’s not a single thing a man can do that a woman can’t do as well or better — not a single thing” is what Joe Biden claimed he told his daughters. Biden made the comment just this past March, but, hey, he’s the guy who last year also said we should keep the “record player” on at night for our digital-age kids. So perhaps he hasn’t gotten the memo:
The “I am woman, hear me roar!” tactic is passé and has been traded for the damsel in distress.
Also perhaps not getting the memo is the now notorious MUSS (“Made-up Sexual Status” or “transgender”) University of Pennsylvania swimmer “Lia” Thomas (real given name “Will”), who has been shattering women’s records along with their dreams. In fact, he apparently is so proud about beating the girls — who he, if he was like so many other boys, was told for decades can do anything “as well or better” — that he boasted about burying them in the pool.
“That was so easy, I was cruising,” Thomas reportedly said after a 200 freestyle event.

Education today has moved so far left that, in many cases, it has even left liberals — in shock. A good example are the parents who’ve made news protesting the racial policies at their children’s ritzy, high-end New York City private schools. What’s more, as education watchers know painfully well, even math and other basic subjects have too often been reduced to a woke joke. In fact, a recent “letter” from a liberal mother attests to this very fact — and it’s eye-opening.

Call it Woke Side Story. Because there’s woke, really woke, über woke, and then there’s this: not including subtitles for a movie’s Spanish dialogue because you don’t want to give “English the power over the Spanish.”
That’s exactly what director Steven Spielberg did, and why, in his recently released West Side Story (WSS), a “remake” of the iconic 1961 film of the same name. Spielberg says, however, that it’s not a remake but a “reimagining.” But no matter one’s imagination, it’s hard to conceive of the flick’s debut this past weekend as anything but a flop — and expensive one, too.

As we ponder how our day’s Dr. Strangeloves want Ukraine to join NATO so that we’ll be obligated to war against Russia if it attacks its western, kleptocratic neighbor, we should consider a certain point. It isn’t just, as some have pointed out, that Cold War relic NATO has outlived its usefulness. It’s not just that Russia, no longer being the Soviet Union, has no intention of invading Western Europe and couldn’t pull off a Julius-Caesar-in-Gaul even if it did. It’s also this:
Troubling over such a thing is a bit like fearing that Bill Gates’s bucks will invade your bank account.

Governor Kathy Hochul, the Empire State’s would-be empress and unelected and uninspiring chief executive, may be learning this the hard way, too. For after issuing her state’s toughest mask mandate yet, countless New Yorkers and various counties are vowing not to comply.

“Officially” is a funny word. Officially, China’s constitution guarantees freedom of speech and religion. Officially, homosexuality is outlawed under Islam (but loopholes exist). Here’s another example:
Officially, our Consumer Price Index (CPI — what’s informally called “inflation”) rose 7.3 percent this year — or 6.9 percent, depending on whom you believe. This would make it the highest in 39 years. Banking on this, however, would be a bit like assuming you could mount a soapbox in Shanghai, call Xi Jinping a traitor and not end up “re-educated.”
For in fact, says one analyst, the real 2021 CPI is 15 percent — the highest in American history.
Indications are that it’s going to get worse, too.

“Art, like morality, consists of drawing the line somewhere,” noted GK Chesterton in 1928. As to this, critics of a new statue erected outside UN Headquarters in New York City say it crosses the line. In fact, they claim the work crosses up the Cross, in that it depicts a demonic End Times beast.
“When I first heard about this, I could hardly believe that the global elite would be so brazen,” remarked blogger Michael Snyder, who says the statue “appears to very closely resemble a ‘beast’ that is described in the Book of Revelation.”
The work, which is named the “Guardian for International Peace and Security” (GIPS) and is a gift from the Government of Oaxaca, Mexico (and, apparently, entered our country legally), “is a fusion of jaguar and eagle,” according to this website. It also “has been painted in LGBT colors"….

The authorities are Johnny on the spot when someone puts bacon on a mosque’s door handles or a paranoid race-car driver claims a garage-door pull rope is a noose. But a spate of Christmas tree burnings isn’t attracting much attention and generally gets sloughed off as mischief. In fact, after a Christmas display was vandalized at a Chicago park recently for the third year running, a media outlet sloughed the act off as the work of a “Grinch.”
So while leftists have often been called “tree-huggers,” it appears that reflecting their usual standard, some trees are more equal than others. Reporting on this Wednesday evening, Fox News host Tucker Carlson cited the case of a non-profit Chicago group called My Block, My Hood, My City, which aims to encourage virtue and responsibility in youth. Last Saturday afternoon, four members from this group went to the Windy City’s dangerous Bronzeville neighborhood to hang Christmas lights and were robbed by four hooligans; mere hours later, someone torched a Christmas tree they’d erected in a nearby park.
