• “Everything You Taught Me Was a Lie”: When Children “Cancel” Their Parents

Bratty Little Girl in PurpleBy Selwyn Duke

“You’re a thought criminal!” said the boy to protagonist Winston Smith in George Orwell’s 1984. This comes to mind when pondering stories of parents who get “canceled” by their own children. Oh, they’re not called thought criminals. They’re just not called — for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or any other time because they dared be awakened to Truth in a “woke” time.

We’ve heard about this for a while. “‘You are no longer my mother, because you are voting for Trump,’” lifelong Democrat Mayra Gomez, 41, was told by her 21-year-old son last year. Now Meadowlark Press writer Caryn Boddie relates her own experiences being canceled by her kids, along with others she knows of who are enduring the same fate.

  • Feminist “Bioethicist” Claims “Gendering” Animals Is Wrong; Social Media Savages Her

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

It’s another good example of the pseudo-elite vs. the street. Florence Ashley, a Canadian bioethicist and feminist based in Toronto, recently took to Twitter to “educate” the hoi polloi on the evils of “gendering” animals. Doing so, averred she, takes “bioessentialist conceptions of gender” and normalizes them. In response, the Twitterverse pointed out that she was quite abnormal.

Ashley further explained, “When we gender animals, we forget that sex is assigned. We begin to believe that sex is literally ~in~ the body.”

  • Were Misinformation Unconstitutional, the Democrats Would’ve Been Censored Since 1840

    Shell GameBy Selwyn Duke

Joe Biden, whose administration has admitted it was engaging in censorship via Facebook, recently said that the social media platform was “killing people” by not removing COVID “misinformation.” His party would certainly know a lot about misinformation, too — after all, the Democrats have been peddling it since 1840.

  • Privileged Whites Condemn White Privilege — While Retaining Their Own

    Greedy ManBy Selwyn Duke

It’s easy being idealistic when you don’t have to live with your ideals, when you can just outsource “your” sacrifice to the less powerful. There was, for example, the well-heeled Brooklyn parent who, reacting to an integration plan targeting his kids’ school, said in 2015, “It’s more complicated when it’s about your own children.” It’s also, apparently, more complicated when it’s about your own privilege.

This is the conclusion one writer drew when assessing Davidson College in North Carolina, a liberal arts institution that has a new mission: teaching white churches to be “less racist.” Here’s how Davidson describes its scheme, which is funded by a big-business-born foundation….

  • NFL “Pride” Ad: “Football is Gay,” “Football is Transgender,” “Football is Queer”

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

If they meant the NFL was happy, that would be one thing, though perhaps a fanciful claim given its ratings woes. But that’s certainly not what’s meant in an NFL ad that states, in part, “Football is Gay” — followed by “Football is lesbian. …Football is queer. …Football is transgender.” And football is…

    …off patriots’ list?

In other words, the NFL has now coupled kneeling during the Anthem with kneeling before the sexual devolutionaries. What’s next, kneeling before tyrants?

(Oh, yeah, been there, done that. Remember China?)

The 30-second ad, which opens to the sounds of drums rolling and people cheering, also states “Football is for everyone.”

  • Dems Propose “Green New Deal” for Gov Schools; the Kids Still Fail at English and Math

    Unhappy StudentBy Selwyn Duke

More than half of New York City schoolchildren can’t tackle basic English or math, but a congressman representing part of the city has a solution: a “Green New Deal for Public Schools.”

Well, I long ago wrote that education’s three r’s had become revisionism, relativism, and racism, but now we can add a fourth: risibility.

But you can decide to laugh or cry.

  • Toxic Nation: China Isn’t Just Trying to Dominate the South China Sea; It’s Poisoning It

    Chinese stormtroopersBy Selwyn Duke

It’s a myth that the Great Wall of China is visible from space. But then there are the Beijing creations that can be seen from the heavens; namely, human waste, sewage, and wastewater dumped by the rogue nation into the South China Sea.

China is well known as possibly the world’s worst polluter. It’s responsible, for example, for the presence of 28 percent of ocean-polluting plastics (more than any other four countries combined) despite having only 18.59 percent of the global population and producing just under 17 percent of the world’s plastic. Moreover, China endures smog dense enough to block sunlight from solar panels, and a majority of its water is contaminated. Then there’s Sichuan Province, where farmers must pollinate their apple orchards by hand because pesticides have killed off their entire wild bee population.

And with Beijing’s great presence in the South China Sea — which it aims to dominate and where it has built artificial islands — it’s now further gifting its pollution to the wider world.

  • Poetic? George Floyd Memorial Destroyed by Possible Lightning Strike, Inspiring Humor

God's Hand Over WorldBy Selwyn Duke

“White lightning, I presume…,” quipped an observer. This was one reaction to reports that a lightning strike destroyed a large Ohio mural honoring George Floyd. Another reaction, among “those who see the Hand of God in extraordinary natural phenomena,” as commentator Thomas Lifson put it, is that it’s “divine retribution.”
