As the statist-controlled federal government burgeons and blows money, opportunities abound for activists to turn their passions into programs and policy. And now one “civil rights” group wants “a cross agency/department national task force responsible for ending” what it calls “the epidemic of murders against the transgender community.”

This is despite the fact that according to a report, “transgenders” are more likely to kill than be killed. They’re also, the report stated, less likely to be murdered than the general population.

China already produces 10 times as many scientists as the United States does despite having just about four times our population. Of course, quantity doesn’t speak to quality. But our woke federal overlords want to degrade the latter, too, as the White House is now waging a war on merit in the physical sciences.

Should the opinions on COVID-19 of 40 doctors and a number of scientists and researchers who have investigated the matter be heard? Not according to a bunch of techies who wouldn’t know a virus from an iris unless the former comprised computer code. Thus did web platform Kartra “cut the cable” to an event called the “Truth Over Fear” summit after the latter had already begun streaming expert talks to its ~50,000 subscribers.

The good news is that the conference — originally slated for April 30 through May 2 — was successfully rescheduled after organizers found a “conservative friendly” hosting platform.

Having magnificent soldiers, small Finland’s claim to historical fame is having savaged Soviet forces during World War II. Now, however, the nation is turning its guns on Christian faith — at least, that is, insofar as it’s expressed authentically. If this seems an exaggeration, just consider what has befallen Päivi Räsänen, an ex-minister of the interior of Finland and currently a member of the nation’s parliament.

Taking cancel culture up more than a notch, the 61-year-old lawmaker has been criminally charged for expressing traditional views on marriage and sexuality.

George Santayana’s famous saying “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” requires some delineation:

• Those who cannot remember the triumphs of the past are likely condemned not to repeat them, and
• Those who are told the mistakes of the past were triumphs will repeat them.

New York City parent Andrew Gutmann understands this well. Gutmann, who attracted national attention by issuing a now-viral letter addressed to Brearley School parents warning of the institution’s fatal race obsession, has sounded another alarm.

“We already do a horrific job in this country teaching history, and now we’re going to make that 10 times worse, we’re going to eradicate that,” the father told Fox News in a new interview.

“Our country doesn’t survive not teaching history and civics, and it sure as hell doesn’t survive teaching our children to hate their country and their history.”

Value-signaling is all fun and games — until the vagrant sets up a tent on your sidewalk. Then it becomes real. And this kind of reality-delivered slap in the face is apparently what recently caused residents of Austin, Texas — a notoriously liberal city — to reject measures pushed by progressives.

The first case concerns how, in 2019, the left-wing Austin City Council allowed vagrant encampments on all city-owned land, except City Hall. (Just as with laws, apparently, social decay is only for the little people.) This led to all the usual problems and an attempt to gag police who warned of the policy’s perils.

The result was a rebellion by residents who sought to reinstate the camping ban via an initiative known as Proposition B.

But if one of those purposes is sports, a man claiming female status is apparently not a woman, the ex-Olympian and California gubernatorial contender tacitly admitted Saturday.

It’s the Northeast’s last great forest — and it’s in the crosshairs of foreign energy companies that stand to make millions by cutting away a huge swath of it and irrevocably altering its character. So say critics of the Central Maine Power Corridor, a planned project that would enable the transfer of “clean” green energy from Quebec, Canada, to Massachusetts.

The tradeoff, though, is that thousands of acres of forest must be destroyed.
