• Churches Burn in Canada Based on Blood-libel Myth

    Burning ChurchBy Selwyn Duke

“There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church,” the late, great Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen stated in 1938. “There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.” In thus noting, perhaps Sheen was thinking of how the Crusades are cast as imperialistic campaigns when they were more like defensive actions designed to ward off Muslim aggression; or maybe how WWII-era pontiff Pius XII was portrayed as “Hitler’s Pope,” though we now know this is an illusion effected via Soviet agitprop. Or maybe the prelate was pondering 100 other things, from the historical to the theological.

But now there’s one more, too: The mainstream-media-enabled allegation that “residential” schools in Canada — run by the Catholic Church in most cases and Protestants in some — seized American Indian children from their families, brutalized them, and then essentially authored their deaths before burying them in unmarked mass graves.

  • Democrats Turning to Vote Fraud to Keep Newsom in Power

    Shell GameBy Selwyn Duke

Leaders who don’t have to worry about elections can abuse power to their hearts’ content. This explains not just the behavior of autocratic regimes in non-democratic countries such as China and North Korea, of course, but also what transpires in Venezuela, where the ruling party can rig the vote. The latter sad reality is also becoming a factor in the United States, and California’s upcoming recall election may be another indicator of just how far down the banana-republic rabbit hole we are.

  • “You Are Not a Chick!”: Spunky Vietnam Vet Locks Horns With Aggressive “Trans” Activist

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

Our cultural revolutionaries, who win battle after battle by default, aren’t used to getting pushback. But they got some in a major way last Wednesday, courtesy of a feisty Vietnam veteran named Don Sucher.

It was then that the 78-year-old was confronted by a MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status or “transgender”) town councilman originally named Nathan Kennedy, but now going by “Tiesa Meskis,” at his Star Wars memorabilia store in Aberdeen, Washington.

  • “Woke” Workers Shut Down Butcher Chain After CEO Removes Their BLM Signs

    Politically CorrectBy Selwyn Duke

What a switch. We’ve heard of employees being canceled by employers for not being “woke.” But in what may be a first, “rock star” Northeast butcher Fleishers has been forced to close all four of its locations after three dozen workers walked out — because the CEO removed their Black Lives Matter and sexual devolutionary (“LGBT”) signs from store windows.

Apparently, these employees believe that store owners should sacrifice business and money for their principles.

  • Subway Franchisees: Dump the Megan Rapinoe Ads — She’s No Hero

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

Is being anti-American now a selling point … in America? Subway’s corporate office apparently thinks so, as it has run advertisements featuring purple-haired, Anthem-kneeler soccer player Megan Rapinoe. But many of its franchisees state otherwise, saying they want the ads pulled because they’re getting serious customer blowback and threats of boycotts.

  • Why Every Functional Society Needs Fear of God

    Religion-AtheismBy Selwyn Duke

To use a twist on an Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen line, millions of people hate what they think Christianity is. Far fewer people hate what Christianity actually is.

Bringing this to mind, again, is a comment I recently came across from an avowedly “non-religious” mother who was upset that her seven-year-old’s Mormon best friend wouldn’t stop talking to him about Bible stories and Jesus. “I don’t want him to be religious, honestly,” the woman wrote to an advice columnist in April. “I want him to learn that you should be a good person and do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do, not because God will punish you if you don’t.”

This is a common atheist perspective, one sometimes expressed even by Christianity’s more intellectual critics, such as the late essayist Christopher Hitchens and biologist Richard Dawkins. Yet it reflects a comic-book understanding of faith.

  • Longtime Physician on COVID Care: “When Did the World Become Insane?”

    Banana RepublicBy Selwyn Duke

He’s fed up and, he says, must finally speak out beyond his private circles even if it means being canceled. What bothers Dr. Matt Bettag, a physician with 24-years experience, so much is that he has “never before seen the medical establishment just stop thinking,” as he puts it. “Insanity is the new rule,” he continues, “and common sense cannot even be discussed.”

Bettag, who has been a practicing ENT for 19 years of his career, is, of course, referring to COVID craziness, to schizoid prescriptions that mutate faster than a virus ever could.

  • Hungary’s Nationalist Leader Orbán Interviewed by Tucker. Is he the “Thug” Biden Claims?

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

He oversees a country about the size of Indiana, with less than 10 million people, a GDP approximating Kansas’s, no navy or nuclear weapons, and a relatively weak military overall. Yet Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán is not only considered a pariah by Western leaders, but is treated as if he poses a unique geopolitical threat. In fact, these leaders want him ousted from power so badly that they’re supporting a coalition of communists and anti-Semites running against him in Hungary’s next election.

None of this is a mystery to Orbán, however. And in a Tucker Carlson Tonight interview, part of which aired Thursday evening, the prime minister explained the condemnation:

He and his nation, with their patriotic, Hungary-first policies and opposition to culture-rending immigration, serve as a refutation of now-dominant Western globalism.
