• No Cow, Just Bull: “Sustainability”-crazy Epicurious Now Won’t Publish Beef Recipes

    Chained RefrigeratorBy Selwyn Duke

“Where’s the beef?!” asked 81-year-old Clara Peller in a famous 1984 advertising campaign. She probably never imagined where it one day wouldn’t be: on the pages of a company whose business is publishing food recipes.

Condé Nast cooking brand “Epicurious” announced the decision in a Monday piece entitled “The Planet on the Plate: Why Epicurious Left Beef Behind.” The site states that the move was made in “an effort to encourage more sustainable cooking.” Well, gee, thanks, dad.

What’s next, “woke” veterinarians refusing to treat cows?

  • Scientism: Is Worship of Science Replacing Religion?

    Religion-AtheismBy Selwyn Duke

In a January 1931 debate with writer G.K. Chesterton, famed “monkey trial” lawyer Clarence Darrow essentially stated that science had refuted religion. In fact, his implication was that science could replace religion.

It may seem ironic that the debate’s topic was “Will the World Return to Religion?” and that now, 90 years later, we’re lamenting how people are leaving what they in 1931 supposedly had already left. That is to say, a recent Gallup poll showed that for the first time in American history, less than 50 percent of the population holds membership in a house of worship.

  • Biden Appointees: No More “White Male Dominated” Diplomacy; Minority Females Are “Better”

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

Before she was a Supreme Court justice, in 2001 already, Sonya Sotomayor claimed that a “wise Latina” judge would tend to “reach a better conclusion than a white male.” Now we’re hearing this prejudiced sentiment from many quarters. The latest is from Joe Biden’s (handlers’) State Department, where appointees have decried “white male dominated” diplomacy as leading to “systemic racism.” They essentially assert that minorities and women would do a better job.

  • Public School Exodus: Does “Get Woke, Go Broke” Apply to Government Schools, Too?

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

What do you mean, if you treat your “customers” like dirt, refuse to do your job, and insult them, they’ll go elsewhere? This reality obviously applies to business. But it also appears operative regarding government schools, which have of late been bleeding students as much as they’ve been shedding common sense with politically correct agendas.

What’s more, perhaps partially explainable by way of the anti-white wave sweeping academia, white students appear the most likely to bolt.

  • “Harvard Educated” Democrat Texas Rep: “Modern Science” Recognizes There are “Six” Sexes

Back to School DuncecapBy Selwyn Duke

If you want to know what an Ivy League education costing 300k-plus gets you, look no further than Democrat Texas state Rep. James Talarico. During a Tuesday public education committee meeting involving testimony on a bill (Texas HB 4042) that would prohibit males claiming to be female from competing in girls’/women’s sports, Talarico claimed that there are not just two sexes, but six.

“Science” says so, in fact, he contended.

What’s more, he apparently thinks that this, which would be a biological phenomenon, somehow has a bearing on an issue involving biologically normal males who claim a different “gender identity,” a psychological phenomenon.

  • Libs Don’t Like Guns, but Knife Fights Are A-OK

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

So how do you demonize a cop who saves a black girl’s life by shooting her knife-wielding attacker?

It’s easy: just tell people that knife fights are as American as apple pie, a rite of passage — sorta’ like the day you finally learned to ride a bike.

It’s hard to imagine, but this claim has essentially been made.

  • Charge That “Soap Dispensers” Prove “Systemic Racism” Reflects a Deeper, Darker Problem

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

“What mighty contests rise from trivial things,” wrote poet Alexander Pope. This could come to mind when considering a claim, made with straight faces, that soap dispensers prove there’s “systemic racism.” Yet ridiculous though it is, the charge reflects something deeper in American life — something very dark and dangerous.

If you think the soap dispenser rationale involves the idea that soap is usually white, no, that’s not it.

  • Americans Are Irrationally Fearful of COVID Partially Because We’ve Become Wimps About Risk

    Bad DoctorBy Selwyn Duke

World population did not explode “because people started breeding like rabbits,” American Enterprise Institute scholar Nicholas Eberstadt once noted, “but because they stopped dying like flies.” This truth reflects the reality that for most of history, life was generally tough and often brutal and short, fraught with serious risk. Today, though, we have a bubble-wrap mentality, and this is absolutely part of the reason why too many Americans are treating COVID-19 as if it’s an Omega Man situation.

So says the Federalist’s Kylee Zempel, addressing a question posed by the New York Times: “Why do so many vaccinated people remain fearful?” (Looking in the mirror would give the Times part of the answer.)
