• “Dr. Pepper” Jill Biden, Queen of the Faux Meritocracy

Back to School DuncecapBy Selwyn Duke

One mark of a declining civilization is an increasing tendency to value style over substance, awards over acumen, titles over triumphs. Enter “Dr.” Jill Biden, who sought her title for self-aggrandizement purposes but who, after scrutiny of her doctoral dissertation, may “wish she had stuck with ‘Mrs. Biden,’” as one commentator puts it.

Given that Whoopi Goldberg proved her style-over-substance status by recommending “Dr.” Jill for surgeon general on TV, it’s perhaps understandable why The Wall Street Journal ran a piece recommending that Mrs. Biden drop the “doctor” prefix. The article created quite a kerfuffle, too, with the EneMedia throwing a collective fit and accusing Journal writer Joseph Epstein of various and sundry isms starting with “sexism.”

  • Losing Culture Wars: How Conservatives Aid the “Trans” Agenda

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

If you want to know why conservatives are batting almost zero in the culture war, consider the recent story about a MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, or “trans”) activist who suggested rhetorically that all children should be put on puberty blockers. For while attempting to oppose the MUSS agenda, some conservative outlets reporting on the matter did, unwittingly and as usual, enable that agenda.

  • Looking Toward the Real End of History

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

In his 1992 book The End of History and the Last Man, political scientist Francis Fukuyama argued that we have reached “the end-point of mankind’s ideological evolution and the universalization of Western liberal democracy as the final form of human government.” It’s a very optimistic view, which could remind one of the naïve claim that WWI would be the “war to end all wars.” Also optimistic, within the context of their “perspective,” are those rather odd people we call leftists with their belief that they’re “on the right side of history.”

Radio giant and conservative icon Rush Limbaugh would once express his optimism, too, repeatedly uttering in the 1990s a line that became a chapter in his 1993 book, The Way Things Ought to Be. To wit: “We are Winning.” A July caller to his show pointed out that he hadn’t “heard that in a long time.” “I’m just curious,” he continued, “but — are we still winning? I’m kind of worried.” He has a lot of company.

  • 300,000 U.S. COVID Deaths? Not Even CLOSE

    Shell GameBy Selwyn Duke

With the way COVID-19 deaths are recorded, many may wonder if they were calculated with a Dominion voting machine and if the disease’s name is “Biden.” After all, other causes of death appear to have a funny way of ending up in the coronavirus column.

The disease that really seems to be losing “votes” to the China virus is the flu, and now even more evidence to this effect has emerged.

  • The Woke Mob Now Wants to “Cancel” the Pioneers

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

If your kids could be convinced that your family and its history were irredeemably wicked, what would it do to family cohesion? And would you have any confidence that when they grew up, they’d perpetuate the family’s faith, traditions, norms, or even its name? Next question: Would it be any different if your national family’s children were thus poisoned?

They are being poisoned, too. And in the wake of statues being felled, Western historical figures impugned, a war on the Founders, and the revision of American history comes an entirely predictable attack on the pioneers who risked their lives settling the West. The current battle involves a promise by Ohio liberal arts institution Marietta College to “review” the school’s Pioneer mascot in light of “recent events” (read: the wholesale attack on our culture).

Of course, to many, a sports team’s mascot dispute may seem like a tempest in a teapot.

  • Childocracy: Our Media’s Overgrown Juveniles

    Boy Throwing TantrumBy Selwyn Duke

Our mainstream media live in an alternate reality in which positions are changed as readily as clothes. Equality is touted as an ultimate good until discrimination, branded “equity,” feels more right; anti-lockdown protests were dangerous during a pandemic, but BLM protests were necessary; and treatment to change sexual inclination must be illegal, but treatment endorsing change in “sexual identity” is enlightened. And because of this, writes commentator Andrea Widburg, “it’s fun to compare past and present articles that demonstrate the media’s willingness to shift principles to advance their biases.”

Liars give themselves away. When I worked with kids decades ago….

  • Can You Guess What the World’s Least Racist Nation is? A Study Tells Us

    Mixed-race StudentsBy Selwyn Duke

It would be a nightmare Wheel of Fortune word puzzle, perhaps unsolvable, for a leftist. To wit: “One of the least racist countries on Earth — U_i_ed S__t_s.”

If you don’t have 1619-Project-on-the-brain, you no doubt can solve the puzzle and won’t be surprised that research bears the conclusion out. That is, vindicating earlier studies, author Kathleen Brush visited 114 nations during the course of her “racism” research and has found what common sense informs us:

The United States is among the least racist countries on Earth.

  • What Fate Awaits the COVID Kids, a Generation Raised in Isolation and Fear?

    Silenced GirlBy Selwyn Duke

As tiny children walk around masked and isolated, all over a disease imperiling them less than the flu, some are asking a question:

What will be the consequences when little humans, social beings by nature, are raised in quarantine?

Suicides have already been attributed to the lockdowns. In April, 12-year-old Texas boy Hayden Hunstable took his own life, having been “badly affected by being separated from his friends and his routine,” reported the Mirror in May. “He didn’t like the isolation,” said Brad Hunstable, the lad’s father. “He didn’t like being at home…."

  • Escape From L.A.: Amid Lockdown, New Criminal-loving D.A. Could Be Last Nail in City’s Coffin

    Banana RepublicBy Selwyn Duke

Some demons are about to be unleashed on the City of Angels’ streets, courtesy of a George Soros-bought district attorney who appears to believe his role is to pander to and not prosecute criminals.

George Gascón was sworn in Monday as Los Angeles’s new D.A., and he wasted no time sending the message that his jurisdiction would become a new Wild West.

  • The Time for Talking with the Left is Long, Long Past

Bald Eagle in Front of FlagBy Selwyn Duke

“People who cannot be reasoned with can only be fought.” It’s an age-old truth, one good people ignore at their own peril. It too often is ignored, though, since good people are mostly reasonable and, in accordance with man’s nature, engage in projection. They thus assume that others are as reasonable as they are.

It’s reasonable to assume that mentioning right now the futility of reasoning with the Left is motivated by the election. It’s also, in my case, untrue. I’ve for decades recognized that devout leftists, emotion-driven and vice-ridden, operate by occultist Aleister Crowley’s “principle,” “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.” But now, with the Left stealing an election after have stolen our whole culture and increasingly achieving its ends through violence, more people may accept this message.
