• Toppled Statues to Toppled Republic? A Venezuelan Issues a Déjà-vu Warning

Boot on Declaration of IndependenceBy Selwyn Duke

“When systems fall, so do statues,” noted Russia Beyond in 2012. It follows from this that statues’ fall can portend your system’s falling. This brings us to a viral video from a Venezuelan woman who warns: Don’t think “it” can’t happen here.

Elizabeth Rogliani, a Venezuelan actress living in the United States, has seen “it” — a left-wing revolution — before. “Why do I even worry about some silly little statues coming down or some silly little street names changing? Why do I care?” she asked rhetorically in her video.

“It’s because the last time I didn’t care about this, I was a teenager,” she explained. “I have already lived through this thing, when I was living in Venezuela.”

  • Black Lives Matter Booster Wants ALL Christian Imagery DESTROYED — if It Portrays Jesus as White

    1746135_lowBy Selwyn Duke

Christian iconography doesn’t matter to Black Lives Matter booster and hard-left activist Shaun King — that is, if it happens to portray Jesus and other biblical figures as white.

In fact, he wants it destroyed.

  • Gorsuch the Pharisee and Textualist Tomfoolery

    Judge pounding GavelBy Selwyn Duke

The Supreme Court’s recent opinion that the 1964 Civil Rights Act’s prohibition against “sex” discrimination offers protections for the “LGBT” groups has raised eyebrows and ire. But it’s not surprising: The decision’s author, Justice Neil Gorsuch, long ago made clear that he operates from false premises. One of these is what’s called “textualism,” which is not at all the same as originalism.

Conservatives also err, in my view, in claiming that Gorsuch has “redefined ‘sex.’” In reality, his ruling is instead based on a certain rationalization. Harvard law professor Noah Feldman, while essentially applauding Gorsuch’s lawyer-craft, explained it well.

  • Report: China Could Launch FIRST STRIKE Using Stolen U.S. Tech and Fry Our Electric Grid

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

While many would say our country is currently doing a good job of destroying itself, experts warn that we could have some frightening help — in the form of a Chinese surprise “Pearl Harbor” attack on our electric grid using stolen American technology. An “electromagnetic pulse” (EMP) assault would, many say, plunge us into a massive, long-lasting blackout and halt modern life.

  • Cancel Culture: Did Melissa Rolfe Lose Job Because She’s Atlanta Cop Garrett Rolfe’s Stepmom?

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

While you now cannot refuse to hire cross-dressers at your daycare center according to the Supreme Court, firing a woman merely for being related to the “wrong” person may be just fine. That’s the conclusion many are drawing, anyway, after Melissa Rolfe, the stepmother of Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe, was fired from her job as a human-resources director.

  • As American Politicians Surrender to BLM, France Says “No!” to Statue Killers

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

When two NYC employees were recently confronted for using an American Flag to mop a dirty bathroom — hours before Flag Day — one responded, “It’s just a symbol.” (One wonders how he’d respond to someone thus treating an inherited symbol of his mother’s love.)

But the employees’ attitude is no surprise. They were just following the example of pseudo-elites, politicians, and others, who either cower before terrorist group Black Lives Matter as our culture is further destroyed — or actually facilitate that destruction. In an ironic twist, though, the cowardly among us are getting “a lesson in courage” from France….

  • Culture Rape: Our Forefathers Condemned as Immoral — by the Worst Lowlifes Among Us

Pope Pius XII StatueBy Selwyn Duke

As statues again come down as our culture is further torn up, something goes unsaid and often unnoticed:

Notable Western historical figures are being condemned as immoral — by the most immoral, decadent, degenerate people among us.

  • BLM, the Racist Group That Chanted “Fry” Cops, Now at 62% APPROVAL Among Voters

    Burning VanBy Selwyn Duke

“Pigs in a blanket. Fry like bacon!” chanted the group, encouraging violence against police officers. That was just five years ago.

Now that group, the once unpopular Black Lives Matter (BLM), enjoys 62-percent approval among likely voters, according to Rasmussen.

That means this radical organization is more popular than the president, Joe Biden, Congress, big business, the media, religious institutions, and even the pope….

  • Memphis City Council Could Turn Local Police into BLM/Antifa

    Banana RepublicBy Selwyn Duke

If you think the police aren’t to your liking now, just wait until you see them after they’re “reformed.” This be-careful-what-you-wish-for reality apparently eludes the Memphis City Council, which just passed a resolution calling on its police department to adopt the policies of Campaign Zero, an anti-police group that grew out of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.

Campaign Zero ultimately (and ostensibly) wants to eliminate the cops, but this didn’t stop council chairman Patrice Robinson from announcing last week in an e-mailed newsletter that she was advancing the radical entity’s agenda.

  • The Charmer

    By Selwyn Duke

In light of what's happening in our country, with certain people empowering demagogues, I've decided to republish a poem I wrote many, many years ago. It speaks of the plight of the useful idiot. Yes, I am a poet (occasionally) and you didn't know it.

    Snake and Apple                              The Charmer

The tyrant threw tantrums, but effective not was he.
Too diminutive he was, just nigh to a knee.
He grew and learned of graces, gentle suasion and guile,
Smooth talk, sartorial splendor, and a twinkling smile.
Change had come upon him, so a tyrant he was no more,
He was a man among men, a charmer one could adore.
Taken people were with his words and noble bearing,
His earnestness, his charity, how he’d always be so caring.
His politeness was unfailing, and what he did find,
Is t’was his shield of armor, making others respond in kind.
They made the Charmer a leader of men, and as he rose through the ranks,
He abided by protocol and niceties, never failing to say “thanks.”
Finally he sat at the helm of his great nation,
His charm and others’ omission having won him his great station.
But even this lofty status satisfied not what lay beneath,
The Charmer wanted his birthright; it was time to bear his teeth.
Success was not denied him, and as he sat in the seat of power,
Absolute control was in his hands, and his greatest gift came to flower.
No more to pay homage to the traditions of men,
His will could be imposed with a stroke of his pen.
T’was then those who loved the Charmer could only gnash their teeth and cry,
As they were marched to lonely fields and camps, so soon they were to die.
Dumbfounded they were, not knowing what they did sow,
“What happened to the Charmer?” was all they wanted to know.
They pined after their great leader, whom they held so dear,
And wondered, in disbelief, “How could this happen here?”
And uttering their last, as the executioner stood ready to wrack,
They exclaimed, “Our beloved Charmer has been deposed, and the tyrant has come back!”
