When I speak of a hoax and The Virus, I don’t mean there isn’t in our population a pathogen identified as SARS-CoV-2 or, as the “unwoke” might say, the Wuhan Flu. As with past respiratory diseases, it’s also dangerous to the vulnerable. But as data increasingly show — and as I and some others have been saying all along — this current situation is very different from past pandemics in one significant and deadly way: It’s not being treated as only a medical/health issue.
It’s being treated as a political issue.
And as the Soviet Union’s Lysenkoism demonstrated, politics kills science.

Many have noted that with feminist numbness to Tara Reade’s sexual assault charges against Joe Biden, #MeToo has become #Who?Me? But whatever one thinks of the presumptive Democrat nominee’s guilt or innocence, there’s an irony here:
When vice president, Strokin’ Joe didn’t just handle women; he also handled the Obama administration’s Title IX policy.
And he made sure that men accused of sexual misconduct on college campuses were essentially considered guilty until proven innocent.

The media have been throwing shade on the Sunshine State’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts, but Governor Ron DeSantis will have none of it. Fielding reporters’ questions at President Trump’s side at the White House Tuesday, DeSantis defended his Wuhan Flu approach, pointing out that Florida is doing far better than “locked down” states with draconian policies.

And now they reportedly have a powerful new ally: an Illinois state attorney who has announced that he will not enforce Governor J.B. Pritzker’s lockdown order in his county.

Perhaps he’s competing with Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich.) for the Worst Governor in the Nation title. But New Jersey’s Phil Murphy (shown), who recently shrugged off his civil-rights violations by saying the Constitution was above his “pay grade,” is now proving that science is, too:
On Monday afternoon, the governor announced a plan that essentially extends his state’s coronavirus stay-at-home order indefinitely — even though it’s now clearer than ever that the “lockdown” strategy is a cure worse than the disease.

One indication of whether a policy is driven by principle or just politics, prejudice, and/or passion is if it actually relates to the problem it purports to solve. Given this, it could raise eyebrows that while New York City’s mayor Bill de Blasio has threatened to “permanently” shut down churches that dare hold worship services during the Wuhan virus pandemic, his municipality’s subway cars are dirtier than ever and are “transporting” the disease, as one MTA conductor put it.
Aside from the filth, a major problem is that the city’s subways have become de facto vagrant shelters, with derelicts living in close quarters crammed into the reduced number of train cars (service has been cut by 75 percent) and perhaps becoming disease vectors.
Making it worse is that while ridership is down to five percent of normal, this comprises “essential” workers such hospital and grocery-store employees — the very people de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo claim to appreciate so much.

“A lie can get halfway around the world while the Truth is putting its boots on,” goes the apocryphal saying. This was proven by the media, again, late last week when “activists falsely claimed that Trump ‘urged Americans to inject themselves with disinfectant’ and ‘told people to drink bleach,’” as the Daily Wire relates it, to combat the Wuhan virus.
In reality, President Trump merely asked a question relating to possible medical interventions at his Thursday virus press briefing, and the media twisted it beyond recognition — and into a suggestion.
