• Of Viruses and Verities: Is Shutting Down the Nation Over Covid-19 Making Us LESS Safe?

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

There have been approximately 225,000 hospitalizations and 20,000 deaths. Ninety percent of the deceased are elderly, and 90 percent have underlying medical conditions.

I’m talking about the flu, by the way, and the toll it takes annually in just the United States alone.

As for the Wuhan virus, there are 18,170 confirmed cases in the U.S., with 250 confirmed deaths. Eighty percent of the deceased are elderly, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) tells us, and data from Italy show that 99 percent had underlying medical conditions. So it’s good we’re reacting to the disease the same way we do to the flu.

    Except we’re not, of course.

With the flu we go about our daily lives, not even noting that 61,000 people died during the 2017-18 season alone. With the Wuhan virus, too many people have become Chicken Little.

Some experts warn that this is where the true danger lies, too. After all, there are risks associated with trying too hard to avoid risks.

  • Italy: The Real Reasons a Chinese Virus Is Ravaging a European People

    Chinese stormtroopersBy Selwyn Duke

Italy is no stranger to Asia-born diseases. One of the Roman Empire’s most famous emperors, Marcus Aurelius, likely died of smallpox, which came from Asia. But we may be surprised that in the age of modern medicine an advanced nation such as Italy could be ground zero for Wuhan virus mortality, with 427 people dying in one recent day alone. Yet connections with China, Italy’s aged population, socialized medicine, and small personal space may explain the phenomenon.

While the PC thought police don’t want the disease’s Chinese origin mentioned, there’s a simple reason why northern Italy is especially plagued by the Wuhan virus: Many Chinese work there.

  • Woman Suing Clinic That Enabled Her “Gender Transition” at Age 16

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

Keira Bell changed her mind. But changing her body won’t be so easy after a so-called gender transition that began in her mid-teens and led to breast removal. Now the 23-year-old is suing the clinic that facilitated her body mutilation, calling her desires to “change” sex a teen a “fantasy” that should have been “challenged” by the medical practitioners.

Bell is not alone, but joins a growing list of young people whose lives have been irreparably altered by Big Gender, which is now big business. Just consider Nathaniel (last name withheld), for example, who had his genitalia removed shortly after his 18th birthday, but just months later called it a “Frankenstein” transition that has “ruined” his life; or Sydney Wright, who was given body-altering hormones before she was even old enough to buy alcohol and now says, “Doctors failed me at every turn.”

  • Fredo vs. Mike? Cuomo Brothers Argue on LIVE TV About Who Is Mommy’s Favorite

    Boy Throwing TantrumBy Selwyn Duke

Andrew and Chris Cuomo certainly have issues — that is, aside from the political positions you’d expect from a governor and a news commentator. This became apparent Tuesday when journalist Chris interviewed New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on the Wuhan virus, and the discussion devolved into a juvenile sibling-rivalry spat over who was their mother’s favorite child.

The puerile display occurred on the journalist’s CNN show Cuomo Prime Time and began when Chris asked if, among other things, curfews might be necessary to halt the Wuhan virus’s spread. This prompted the governor to say toward the end of his answer, “Curfew, I don’t like the word curfew. Dad tried to have a curfew for me; I never got past the resentment. But I do believe you’ll see more tightening if the numbers don’t slow.”

Perhaps feeling compelled to defend his father or possibly driven by some childhood-born resentment, Chris then responded to his older brother, “The least of your problems, by the way. Your problems with the curfew were the least of your problems, just so you know.”

    The discussion degenerated from there….

  • Joe Biden, the Manchurian Virus Candidate

    Donkey-ElephantBy Selwyn Duke

If one didn’t know better, he could think that China unleashed the Wuhan virus upon the world purposely to get their man, Joe Biden, elected president. Jumblin’ Joe is their man, too.

It’s not just that the disease will assuredly cause economic distress as people’s lives and commerce are disrupted; it’s not just that no matter what President Trump does, the EneMedia will portray his response to the disease as lacking. (Never mind that Barack Obama apparently spread disease throughout our nation by shipping sick illegal-alien minors throughout the country. Enterovirus D68, anyone?)

It’s also that the Wuhan virus has now become a handy excuse to limit debates and Jumblin’s Joe’s personal appearances. Health is the concern, you see (Biden’s mental health, that is).

  • Immigration Über Alles: As Coronavirus Halts Civilian Life, Refugee Resettlement CONTINUES

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

If you thought our immigrationist leaders would let a virus impede their demographic-change endeavors, think again. For while the San Francisco Bay area is under a shelter-in-place order, government-mandated curfews and business closings are increasingly common, and civilian life grinds to a halt, refugee resettlement has been continuing (at least as of last week) — this includes resettlement from Wuhan virus-stricken countries.

  • Greece Battles Migrant Wave From Turkey With Giant Concrete Blocks on Border

    MuslimStarandCrescentBy Selwyn Duke

It’s not exactly the Battle of Thermopylae. But Greece is again under siege, this time by Mideast migrants given free rein by the Turkish government. The main prize isn’t Greece, though, but wealthy, welfare-state nations such as Germany. And contrary to immigrationist spin, sources say the migrants aren’t desperate Syrian war refugees but are mainly (96 percent) economic opportunists seeking Western handouts.

While people are preoccupied with Wuhan virus sickness, largely ignored is that Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan — who has called Europe a “sick man” — has been trying to make it a bit sicker in his own way. Not only has he been following through on a threat to allow Mideast migrants to flood toward Europe, but his troops have actually fired tear gas at Greek police defending their own land. Meanwhile, Greece isn’t backing down, but is doubling down and fortifying its border all the more.

  • Who Has Passed Away, and Where — and Other Realities From the Coronavirus Front Lines

    HandsClaspedinPrayerBy Selwyn Duke

New Rochelle, N.Y. — Living right next to New Rochelle, I was certainly struck when I heard it was the epicenter of Wuhan-virus infection in the United States. More than 100 of our nation’s at least 1,663 cases are in the small city of almost 80,000 people, the result of a congregant inadvertently infecting others at the Young Israel of New Rochelle synagogue earlier this month. That man, a lawyer who works near Grand Central Station in Manhattan, is currently hospitalized.

  • Coronavirus: China “Is Threatening To Kill Us” — by Cutting Off Life-saving Drugs

    Chinese stormtroopersBy Selwyn Duke

You might think that after unleashing the Wuhanvirus upon the world, China would strike a conciliatory tone. Instead, the nation’s official news service and government mouthpiece has not only asked everyone else for an apology, but has threatened to “ban exports to the United States” of medical products, which it said would cause us to “fall into the hell of a new coronavirus epidemic.” This should be taken seriously because we’ve long been dependent on China for pharmaceuticals, including for an estimated 95 percent of our antibiotics.

How does the world’s greatest nation (us…still) find itself at the mercy of another power for medicine? It’s the result of decades of naïve, internationalist, faux free trade policies that have decimated our manufacturing base, including in areas vital for national security.

  • Americans Are Being FORCED to Train the Foreign Workers Who’ll REPLACE Them

Big Man Stepping on Small ManBy Selwyn Duke

It’s bad enough that Big Tech is swaying our elections and shifting votes, but it’s also shifting American jobs — to foreigners. There’s salt in this wound, too: The displaced American workers are sometimes forced to train their replacements.

Worse still, this isn’t a new story, but was occurring under the Obama administration. Yet the outrage continues even now with President Trump in office.
