• Bill O’Reilly: The “Woke Companies Flying Under the Radar”

    Politically CorrectBy Selwyn Duke

Some companies advertise their fall from grace. Bud Light, for example, signaled descent into woke darkness with a “trans” influencer ad campaign. It didn’t end well (though, really, it hasn’t yet ended). Jaguar exhibited symptoms of mad cat disease with a commercial featuring what look like sexually confused extraterrestrials visiting Earth. Whether this results in the auto manufacturer blazing past the finish line or just being finished remains to be seen.

But then there are the companies that, keeping their wokeness close to the vest, damage society without attracting attention. And on his show No Spin News Monday, commentator Bill O’Reilly exposed a number of such quietly woke brands. Let’s take a look at them.

  • Town Fined 10K for Not Celebrating “Pride” Month — and Other Foreign Craziness

    Pride FlagBy Selwyn Duke

With the election of Donald Trump, many Americans are hopeful that so-called wokeness will go the way of the dodo. Yet as recent warnings inform, such cultural change requires, well, a change in the culture (not just the politics). And perhaps helpful in this regard is considering what happens when a civilization continues down the rabbit hole of relativism. We have many such examples, too — they’re called foreign countries.

  • WARNING: “We Are Still at War”

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

The above claim, made just recently, is not about our Ukraine-proxy war with Russia. It’s not about our continuing military actions against the Houthi rebels in Yemen. It’s not about something as mundane as how the U.S. is, technically, still at war with North Korea. Rather, it’s about an ongoing, existential conflict against the most dangerous enemy of all: ourselves.

Or, to be precise, that would be the enemy within — and the good Americans who unwittingly aid that enemy.

  • U.S. in a “State of Undeclared Emergency,” Report Warns

    MunitionsBy Selwyn Duke

“If you want peace, prepare for war,” goes the adage. Yet in the U.S. in recent decades, it’s as if we’ve been preparing for peace while waging war. The result?

Our stockpiles of weapons are so dangerously low that we have only one to three weeks of munitions available for a major conflict. Worse still:

We no longer can produce weapons sufficiently fast to replenish these stocks during such a conflict.

  • Attacking Trump Voters, View Host Mistakes “Schooling” for Education

    Girls in SchoolBy Selwyn Duke

“Never let your schooling interfere with your education,” goes the apocryphal saying. (No, it’s not from Mark Twain, though the schooled are more likely than the educated to think so.) It is a truth, too, an important one to grasp — especially for pseudo-elites who demean the unschooled as “uneducated.”

Enter ABC network’s Sunny Hostin. Hostin, who’s never sunny, offered election analysis on a recent episode of The View. Trump’s victory wasn’t attributable to black men’s support, she stated, as almost 80 percent of them voted for Kamala Harris. Rather, the problem was that 47 percent of “Latino” men supported Trump along with, by her lights, benighted white women.

“What we did not have is white women,” she said, “who voted about 52 percent for Donald Trump — uneducated white women is my understanding.”

  • The Most Important Votes Are Yet to Be Cast

The choices we make in our daily lives shape our culture and the type of country we have. After all, politics is downstream from culture.

    Man VotingBy Selwyn Duke

With President Donald Trump’s historic and resounding election victory, many are relieved. His supporters may feel, “Mission accomplished!” while his opponents (those not throwing tantrums) might’ve resigned themselves to reality. There’s a sense that we can breathe easier now, relax, and return to “life as normal.” Yet overlooked is that the most important ballots are yet to be cast.

What am I talking about? We cast votes every time we buy a product or service, pay for a movie or imbibe other entertainment, watch a news broadcast, purchase a newspaper or view a website, use a search engine, send a child to a school or college, or express a belief. These choices are daily “votes” because they determine what will prevail in our culture. If a news station peddles propaganda, a university destructively indoctrinates youth, a corporation funds perverse agendas, or a Big Tech company nefariously influences our elections, it’s only because too many of us are patronizing it in some way. If the entity’s customers/users disappeared, so would it. If activists are effectively spreading destructive ideas, it’s only because too many of us are tolerating it. In other words, our daily market/social-realm votes serve to shape our culture, and this matters because, as the late Andrew Breitbart famously put it, “Politics is downstream from culture.”

  • The Tapper-CNN/Maddow Lawsuits and the Dying Mainstream Media

    By Selwyn Duke

The mainstream media may, collectively, be the most dangerous single worldly enemy our country faces. After all, it once was virtually all Americans’ only conduit of information and still serves that function for many. It’s as with a computer, too: garbage in, garbage out. And this lamentation is, essentially, what commentator Mike McDaniel issued in a recent article — in different words.

“To be sure, the media isn’t entirely responsible for the sad state of our representative republic,” he wrote. But “their contribution to our current tribulations is enormous and destructive.”

Oh, and garbage, masquerading as news, is at issue. As Elon Musk put it on X Monday:

Very common mistake to believe that the legacy media only lies about areas that you understand well.

    No, they lie about everything.

  • Let’s Say Man IS Changing the Climate. So What?

    Ice AgeBy Selwyn Duke

“The temperature is rising!” “The temperature is dropping.” The temperature is staying the same.”

We argue the “facts” of climate change (even as parts of New Jersey were just buried under 11 inches of global warming). One side wants the facts to show that man is disrupting the climate, while the other wants them to show that he’s not. But an almost never posed question should be asked:

Let’s say, for argument’s sake, that our industry is causing global warming. So what?

No, I’m not a guy who “just wants to see the world burn” (and that would be literally). Rather, if anthropogenic climate change were occurring, why should we assume it wouldn’t be beneficial?

  • Jaguar Jumps Off Clown-car Cliff While Bud Light Does About-face and “Mocks” Wokeness

    Jaguar-ad-2-11.23.24-YouTube-1080x720By Selwyn Duke

It’s a tale of two companies. One went woke, began to go broke, and now embraces the macho bloke. The other, slow on the uptake, just stepped on the woke rake and now has a real headache.

The latter is British auto manufacturer Jaguar, whose most recent commercial looks like the bar scene in Star Wars. The company attempting to mend fences is Bud Light, which, after a series of failures trying to repair its image, has made a very effective un-woke ad. Whether it can put the politically correct toothpaste back in the tube, however, is a different matter.
