Ultimate Schadenfreude: Democrat is Twice Bitten, Not Shy

There’s stupid. There’s really stupid. There’s really, really stupid.

Then there’s Democrat stupid.

A prime example is a Friday Wall Street Journal article titled “This Democrat Is Giving Up on ObamaCare.” It’s penned by one Burke Beu, someone I describe as “ethnically Democrat,” as he says “I grew up in a Democratic family. I have been a registered Democrat since age 18.” He also tells us, “[I was] a Democratic candidate for statewide office in Colorado and a party precinct captain in that caucus state. I’ve volunteered for numerous Democratic candidates and contributed to party causes and campaigns. The 2014 election results were extremely disappointing for me….”

And, of course, Mr. Beu has soured on ObamaCare. In fact, he wants it repealed. All good so far. Except that he doesn’t have any explicitly harsh words for Obama, hasn’t given up on his party, wants a single-payer system and seems to believe Hillary Clinton is the solution in 2016. (Note: In fairness, Clinton is different from Obama — she has two X chromosomes.) But here are the money lines:

2014 Election: Blacks, Hispanics, Young and Women Still Reliably Liberal

The best predictor of future voting patterns is past voting patterns, to use a twist on a famous maxim. This is probably even truer of groups than individuals, and, despite some wishful thinking to the contrary, this election cycle was no exception. As to this, Silvio Canto at American Thinker recently asked “What Happened to ‘Demographics’?” in a piece in which he says that “people of color…don’t automatically vote Democrat.” Perhaps this means they manually vote Democrat, but, whatever the case, this person “of no color” is here to tell you three things:

Too Many Minority Students Misbehaving? Solution: Stop Punishing Them

We’ve all heard of affirmative action and apportioning jobs based on racial quota. But now Minneapolis school officials want to mete out punishment based on racial quota. It’s part of a wider movement — orchestrated by the federal government — to reduce the number of suspensions of black and Hispanic students. Breitbart News Network’s Warner Todd Huston reports on the story, writing:

The Minneapolis public school system [MPS] announced a major new district-wide policy for disciplining students: any suspension of a non-white student requires the district superintendent's approval.

The MPS has been stung by reports that students of color are 10 times more likely to receive a suspension than white students. The Minneapolis school system has an enrollment of over 32,000 students. Seventy percent are non-white.

School superintendent Bernadeia Johnson, a black woman, maintains that she wants to "disrupt" the current suspension trends.

Johnson makes the claim that black and Hispanic students are being suspended for behaviors for which white students are not held to account. But critics say this is false. In fact, Johnson’s agenda doesn’t seem at all to concern equality of behavior-standard application but equality of outcome, as she remains, the Star Tribune tells us, “committed to completely eliminating the racial suspension gap by 2018.”

Perhaps the first clue, or the ten thousandth, was when many Democrats opposed the reinsertion of God into their party’s platform in 2012 and booed the judgment that the measure to do so had passed. But now it’s official:

The Democrats are the party of the Devil.

Why Liberals Will Not Stop Destroying Civilization

If a person became convinced that there were no such things as the laws of human health and nutrition, the consequences would be far greater than just Dr. Oz being out of a job. Without such guidance for determining diet, the person would have no yardstick for deciding what to put in his mouth other than taste. Operating by the credo "If it seems good, eat it," he'd likely gravitate toward junk food, whatever food happened to titillate the tongue at the moment. But moments change, and who knows where a palate ever seeking the next adventurous culinary thrill would lead? With the only limit on diet being that of human taste itself, sampling those colorful berries on that bush outside, or that fluid under the sink (as a little child might) may seem appealing. Whatever the case, having fallen victim to this culinary relativism, the person couldn't even understand the link between caloric intake and obesity, or obesity and poor health. I mean, copious consumption of cakes and confections may hurt you, but don't impose your gastronomic values on me, hater.

Of course, such an approach could very well yield constant degradation of the body, but the process wouldn't go on forever. Death would bring it to an end.

The Transgender Con? Many “Transgender” People Regret Switch

“You fundamentally can't change sex…. Transsexualism was invented by psychiatrists.” These are not the words of a conservative organization or a fundamentalist preacher, but of former “transsexual” Alan Finch.

Having decided to “transition from male to female” at age 19, the Australian man later regretted the life-rending move and chose to once again live as his true sex approximately 15 years later. And he’s not alone. A growing number of “transgender” people, though once sure they wanted to live as the opposite sex, now wish they'd never had their bodies surgically altered.

Muslim Mob Burns Christian Couple Alive

Sajjad Maseeh and Shama Bibi were expecting their fifth child. But that baby will never enter this world, nor will the couple’s four other children ever see their parents again. This is because, this past Tuesday, a Muslim mob in Pakistan’s Punjab Province burned the Christian couple alive in an industrial kiln, leaving nothing remaining but charred bones and the victims’ discarded shoes.

The couple’s alleged “crime,” if you want to call it that, was desecration of the Koran. The problems started approximately two weeks ago after the death of Maseeh’s father, a local religious healer. As Bibi cleaned out the departed’s room, she removed certain items from an old trunk and discarded and burned the rest. A garbage man collected the trash the next day, claimed that pages from the Koran were among it, and informed a local cleric.

And so rumors spread about the “blasphemous” couple. At this point the Christians decided to flee, but were prevented from doing so by Yousaf Gujjar, owner of the brick factory in which Maseeh worked. Claiming the couple owed him money, Gujjar and a dozen accomplices seized them from their home and locked them in a factory office.

Hollywood Blast: Bursting Our Eardrums in a Background-noise Culture

“What did he say? Huh? Okay, well, pass the popcorn and put on the sub-titles.” This is not only a common experience people have with today’s entertainment; it also reflects something deeper about our culture.

It’s not often that reading a Washington Post article makes me exclaim “Thank you. Thank you!” But that’s precisely the reaction I had when imbibing a Friday piece by movie critic Ann Hornaday. Titled, in part, “How auteurs diss their audiences,” it criticizes a modern film phenomenon long a pet peeve of mine: background — or, should I say, foreground and all-around — music so ear-splittingly loud one cannot hear the dialogue.

I know you’ve noticed this. Most everyone has. My late father, a WWII veteran with hearing somewhat damaged by reports in training and battle, complained years ago already that actors in movies would “whisper.” I’ve been with other people who’d have to crank the volume of a movie up high so they could decipher the dialogue, and the commenters’ verdict under Hornaday’s article is unanimous. “I used to think I was going deaf,” related one reader. Numerous others said they’d wait till they could watch a film at home so they could turn on subtitles. For my part, I’m no fan of modern movies; there’s a good chance the work isn’t my cup of tea if the actors weren’t dead when I became alive. But I have watched enough of them to know that, despite my fairly acute hearing, I can only decipher parts of the dialogue and must fill in the blanks.

Prediction: Economic Collapse, Civil Unrest in America by 2016

Violence. Rioting. Looting. Economic collapse and civil unrest. This isn’t a dystopian movie plot, but something else according to an economist with a good track record for prognostication: America’s dark future.

The economist is Martin Armstrong, whose correct predictions include the 1987 Black Monday crash and the 1998 Russian financial implosion. And now he’s predicting civil unrest in America by 2016, precipitated by an economic collapse which he calls “the magic ingredient.” “Turn the economy down,” he continued, “and you get civil unrest and revolution.”

Red Cross Expels Volunteer Who Opposed Same-sex Marriage

Bryan Barkley worked hard for the Red Cross for 20 years, volunteering his time to help reunite people with lost family members. But none of this mattered after the 71-year-old U.K. man decided to protest against faux marriage in front of his local church.

The British Red Cross terminated him, saying that his views were incompatible with the organization’s “fundamental principles.”
