Barack Obama: Anatomy of an Ideologue

As with G.W. Bush before him, much time is spent arguing about Barack
Obama’s character. Does he mean well and just not govern well, or is it
something else? What can be missed during this debate, however, is that
most damage is done in the name of doing good.

Consider, for instance, a Muslim parent teaching his child to engage
in violent jihad. Like any parent, he almost surely wants his child
healthy and successful. Like any wise parent, though, he also
may believe that if he had to choose between his child being healthy and
successful, and being good, he’d have to choose goodness. After all,
what does it profit a man to gain the world but to lose his soul? Only,
he defines “good” differently than you do.

Similarly, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a leader who expressed willingness
to sacrifice half Iran’s population to wipe Israel off the map. Does
this mean he doesn’t care if his nation is healthy and successful? More
likely, he considers those priorities secondary to what is good, which
he defines much, much differently than you do.

If You’re Not Reading This, Please Don’t Vote

“I'm guessing that as soon as I walk into the voting booth,
I'll probably make up my mind then.” So said
undecided voter Kerry Ladka, appearing on Greta Van Susteren’s program after
the second presidential debate. He had just compared and contrasted the
candidates, giving Mitt Romney the edge on the economy, Barack Obama the nod on
“social issues,” and saying that the choice was, at least then, a 50/50
proposition for him. So it’s clear Mr. Ladka isn’t exactly two whiskers from
politics-wonk status. Yet there’s something else that can be said about him. He
also misunderstands his civic duty.

Should Sandy’s Victims Get Your Tax Money?

Living near the coast in the Northeast, I see the devastation wrought
by Hurricane Sandy firsthand. Many have been without power for days;
there are long lines at gas stations; some supermarket shelves are bare;
and, more to the point here, some in vulnerable areas lost their homes.
And because the storm is such a horrible, high-profile disaster,
government aid to rebuild is in the offing. But should it be?

This question may seem heartless. And, don't worry, you won't hear a
politician asking it anytime soon, as doing so might very well cost him
the next election. But political expediency isn’t always synonymous with
fairness.

Let’s start like this: On the day Sandy struck and every day since,
there surely have been low-profile disasters in other parts of the
country. Perhaps someone’s home was struck by lightning and burned down,
maybe an anomalous and isolated flood destroyed a lonely hinterland
abode, or it could have been something else. This is a big country and
many things happen.

And the question is, if you suffer such a disaster and have no
insurance, will Uncle Sam ride to the rescue with tax dollars? We know
the answer. But why the different treatment?

Can Democrat-leaning Voting Machines Win Election for Obama?

Imagine you go to the polls and choose Mitt Romney on an
electronic machine, but your vote comes up Barack Obama. So you re-enter your
choice, but the president’s name still stubbornly appears. Then a third try.
Ditto.

Innocent malfunction…or something else?

Whatever the case, this has already happened to voters in states
such as Nevada, Ohio,
Kansas,
North
Carolina, Missouri, and Colorado — four of which are swing states.

When 16-year-olds Can Vote

If they don’t get wisdom from the mouths of babes, that’s okay. Votes are all they really want.

In Argentina, President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and her ruling
Victory Front coalition have succeeded where certain American leftists
have thus far failed. They have passed a bill allowing 16-year-olds to vote.

The desire to extend suffrage to younger adolescents is nothing new. A
few other nations have made the move, and approximately half of U.S.
states allow 17-year-olds to vote
in primaries and caucuses. And some Americans would take it further.
Executive director of the National Youth Rights Association, Alex
Koroknay-Palicz, wants to grant voting rights
to 16-year-olds; and former California state senator and then
septuagenarian John Vasconcellos' (D-Santa Clara) advanced age didn't
stop him from advancing our decline. Vasconcellos — famous for
advocating the “self-esteem” movement — proposed
in 2004 an idea called “Training Wheels for Citizenship,” which would
have extended limited voting rights to kids as young as 14 (and he
wanted to grant them full rights).

When Feminists Criminalize “Sexist” Speech

If you want to know what Barack Obama and his fellow
travelers have planned for us, you need look only at what their cutting-edge
cousins have already implemented overseas. For example, hate-speech laws have
long been used in Europe and other parts of the “Western” world to punish
people for criticizing Islam and homosexuality. Now feminists are tightening
the noose on freedom further with laws prohibiting “sexist” speech. Writes

If 51 Percent of the Congress Were Women…

While watching television Friday evening, I was shocked to see my state’s junior senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, in a campaign ad.
After all, this is New York and she’s a Democrat, which translates into
anonymity for her opponent and her enjoyment of about an 87 point lead
in the polls (okay, I lied; it’s only 43),
and air time in NY’s market is pricey. Perhaps, I thought, she just
wanted a tax write-off or vanity compelled her to put her face on TV.
Then again, maybe she just wanted to see how many elements of propaganda
could fit into a 30-second political spot.

It’s not that she opens the ad describing herself as “one of the only
young mothers serving in the Senate” (Gillibrand is 45 and had her
first child at 36); hey, she looks good and pulls it off. It’s that her
little spot, titled “Standing Up for Women,” is, like her, style over
substance. And what really struck me was her closing line: “Because if
51 percent of the Congress were women, we wouldn’t be debating
contraception; we’d be debating jobs and the economy.”

First, if 100 percent those who governed were women such as her
opponent, Wendy Long, we wouldn’t be discussing contraception because
the phony diversionary issue wouldn’t have been manufactured in the
first place and Uncle Scam wouldn’t be forcing us to pay for others’
birth control. So let’s be honest, Kirstie, what you really mean to say
is, “If 51 percent of Congress were women like me.”

But then there’s something about this contraception matter that, as far as I’ve seen, hasn’t been mentioned.

Obama the Classless

When Barack Obama called Mitt Romney a bull******* in a Rolling Stone
interview recently, it was reminiscent of something involving a man who
truly fits that description. What I’m referring to has to do with the
1990s, an intern, and America’s increasingly interned morality.

After Bill Clinton said that he didn’t consider Monica Lewinsky’s
services to be sex as he “understood it,” many observers pointed out
that his lawyering of lasciviousness was influencing the young. “Hey,
even the president, a Rhodes Scholar, says it isn’t sex!” It’s what you
call trickle-down decadence. And now what Clinton did for intimate
relations, Obama is doing for relating.

A powerful man sets a powerful example, and Obama has always been
classless. Many complained last year after he invited the rapper
“Common” to the White House, but forgotten is that Obama admitted in 2004 that he let his daughter Sasha — a tender three years old at the time — listen to rap. If anyone exposed my child to that cultural effluent, the rap he’d get would be in the head.

Obama Gets Endorsement of Voting Machine in N.C.

It’s the little voting machine that could. In Guilford County, North
Carolina, some residents who cast ballots for Mitt Romney found their
votes switched to Barack Obama. Writes MyFox8.com:

[Bur-Mil Park voter] Sher Coromalis …
says she cast her ballot for Governor Mitt Romney, but every time she
entered her vote the machine defaulted to President Obama….

Marie Haydock, who also voted at the Bur-Mil Park polling location, had the same problem.

Well, ever since observing Al Gore, I knew that machines leaned
Democrat. However, a North Carolina elections official posits a
different theory. Again from MyFox8:

Guilford County Board of Elections
Director George Gilbert says the problem arises every election. It can
be resolved after the machine is re-calibrated by poll workers.

"It's not a conspiracy [sic] it's just a machine that needs to be corrected," Gilbert said.

Is it just me, or is this problem that “arises every election” one
where malfunctioning machines always seem to err in favor of Democrats?

Other questions are raised. How many people voted for Romney in
Bur-Mil Park and didn’t even notice their votes were switched? How many
of Al Gore’s other slightly less charming relatives occupy polling
stations around America?
