• The Illusion of Rightward Movement

    Shell Game By Selwyn Duke

In this time of Tea Parties and tanking Democrat poll numbers, people are, depending on their point of view, hailing or howling about an apparent conservative groundswell. More traditional folks anxiously anticipate a GOP landslide in November, while many liberals warn of the perils of our current rightward shift.

What are they concerned about? I’m not sure. I wasn’t aware that the federal Department of Education had been eliminated, the income tax repealed and IRS abolished, Roe v. Wade overturned, hate-crime laws rescinded, and the NEA and public broadcasting defunded. I also haven’t heard about a huge influx of traditionalists into academia, the media, and Hollywood and a robust upswing in church attendance among the young. Perhaps I’m out of the loop.

  • Great Patriotic Song

This is an extremely well done patriotic music video that was sent to me by a reader.  I believe it's worthy of wider distribution, so I'm posting it here.  Listen, enjoy and pay the man a compliment in the comments section if you're so inclined.

  • Libertarianism’s Folly: When the “Live and Let Live” Mentality Becomes Vice

    407898_blog By Selwyn Duke

While there was a time when I might have described myself as a libertarian, those days are long gone.  In fact, I don’t even call myself a conservative anymore.  Oh, don’t get me wrong, I agree with libertarians on many issues, and their governmental model is vastly preferable to what liberals have visited upon us.  Yet there is a problem: However valid their vision of government may be, their vision of society renders it unattainable.

  • Transgender Reality Bender

    Sex Symbols-Confusion By Selwyn Duke

Boys will be boys …  or, at least, that’s how it used to be. Now a few boys will be — or would be — girls, and there are plenty of adults willing to play along. And some of these adults occupy the Maine Human Rights Commission, which just ruled that a Pine Tree State middle school engaged in discrimination when it refused to allow a boy who wants to live as a female to use the girls’ bathroom. Reporting on the story, Heather Steeves of the Bangor Daily News writes:

[The Commission found that] Orono Middle School unlawfully discriminated against a sixth-grader during the 2008-2009 school year by not letting the male-to-female "transgender" student use the girls' bathroom.

This is the same student whose parents filed a similar discrimination complaint against Asa Adams Elementary School in Orono when their child was a fifth grader there during the 2007-2008 school year. That case resulted in the same ruling against the school district in June 2009.

  • O’Donnell vs. Coons: Analyzing Extremism

    Communist Flag By Selwyn Duke

Unlike for most Americans, the Delaware senatorial primary was not my first introduction to Christine O’Donnell.  I remembered her from as far back as approximately 15 years ago, making appearances on shows such as “Politically Incorrect.”  So when I heard about her supposed “extremist views,” I had to wonder if I was overlooking something.  It’s hard to forget such a pretty face, but did I fail to recollect some strange aspect of her ideology?

  • Barack Obama: The Man Who Would be God?

Snake and Apple By Selwyn Duke

When writing about Barack Obama’s religious orientation recently, I pointed out that while I do believe he favors Muslim over Western culture, bowing before another — even God — is above his humility grade.  I further mentioned that in keeping with this self-centeredness, Obama is (like all leftists) someone who denies moral reality.

  • Bill Clinton Helps the Republicans Run against Bush

    Pinnochio By Selwyn Duke

You’ve probably heard that joke concerning what’s actually happening when Bill Clinton’s lips are moving, but sometimes the truth does manage to negotiate his tongue.  And his recent trip to Minnesota to campaign for Democrat gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton might just be one of these instances — well, sort of.

  • Abortion Mills Kept Dead Babies in Jars — Like Serial-killer Trophies

Angel vs. Demon By Selwyn Duke

In a piece I just penned about
assaults on Austrian pro-lifers, I mentioned the very bizarre Museum of
Abortion and Contraception in Vienna. It is a macabre place
“cataloguing a history of human effort through the ages devoted to
suppressing or destroying the next generation of human life in the
womb,” as the pro-life LifeSiteNews.com put it.

But while actually creating a museum-in-name dedicated to the culture
of death is unusual, it seems that the desire to do so may not be. This
is because, in a shocking discovery made during investigations of
health and safety code violations, two different U.S. abortion mills in
two different states were found to have created their own “museums” of
death — featuring dead babies and their body parts.

  • Law Looks Other Way While Pro-lifers are Attacked

    412294_low By Selwyn Duke

The right to peaceful protest is one virtually all Westerners hold
dear, but, apparently, not when it’s applied to pro-lifers. Apparently,
that is, if the systematic abuse of some Austrian pro-life activists is
    any indication.

The situation involves a notorious Vienna abortionist named Dr.
Christian Fiala, who has hired thugs for the purposes of harassing,
assaulting, and sexually abusing peaceful pro-life protesters. And
despite the fact that these crimes have been caught on videotape — and
that the culprits have been committing them for years — authorities have
thus far turned a blind eye. LifeSiteNews.com’s Kathleen Gilbert
    reports on the matter, writing:

  • Liberals Creating Anti-Muslim Hate

    MuslimStarandCrescent By Selwyn Duke

One of the quickest ways to provoke resentment in a sibling
relationship is for the parents to continually show favoritism to one of
the children. And here is a Psychology 101 question: Whom will the
disadvantaged child often despise more: A, the parents; or B, the
apple-of-the-eye sibling? Ever since an envious Cain murdered Abel,
    we’ve known the answer.

Given this aspect of man’s nature, what do you think will be the result
of the liberal tendency to consistently show favoritism to Muslim
    groups and causes?

As an example of this tendency, consider Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s response to the Ground Zero mosque controversy.
