• Putting Hollywood in the Hallowed

Heavenly Hand Pulling Man Out of Fire By Selwyn Duke

First there were “inclusive language” Bibles, which extended a
bizarre form of chivalry to feminists with lexical peculiarities such
as “Our Mother/Father who art in Heaven.” Now, there is something
equally bizarre: a Bible illustrated with pictures of celebrities who
supposedly exemplify goodness and compassion. Writes Beliefnet.com:

Last year, a Swedish ad man named Dag Soderberg published a Bible made in the image of Vogue magazine. Called Bible Illuminated: The Book, it featured glossy images of models and artistic contemporary photography, and it caused quite a stir….

Now, a New Testament version is being
published in the U.S. featuring modern do-gooders Angelina Jolie,
Nelson Mandela, and — I’ll give you one guess — Bono.

  • O'Reilly and Slate.com's Joan Walsh Go at it Over Tiller and Late Term Abortions
    http://youtube.com/v/6Z-zl-exifk
I don't know if any of you caught this O'Reilly segment last night, but Joan Walsh of left-wing e-rag Salon.com epitomizes everything that is wrong with the media. I'm not sure if she's worse than that odious foreigner Arianna Huffington, but she certainly gives her a run for her money (which, incidentally, Huffington has a lot of).

Walsh is a truly dishonest, vile, annoying woman. I feel sorry for her husband.

  • Home Bible Study Threatened in Bonito, Calif.

    552042_low By Selwyn Duke

If the Chinese need any help with their crackdown
on the Falun Gong religious group, perhaps they should try to recruit
San Diego County bureaucrats. Because if a recent attempt on the
municipality’s part to stifle Bible study in a private home in Bonita,
California, is any indication, there are at least some in its employ
who have missed their dark calling.

Reporting on this, The Washington Times writes:

  • Governments Abroad Moving Right . . . Right, Left, Right . . .

Confusion-Traffic Signs Some journalists are saying that while the left currently holds sway
in the United States, it is collapsing in foreign lands. Yet, what is
the left? What is the right? Do we really know our right from our left?

    By Selwyn Duke

It has long been observed that the easiest way to be a giant among
men is to live in a land of Lilliputians. You see, so many things in
this world are actually relative: a big mosquito is quite a bit smaller
than a small donkey, and a big donkey is quite a bit smaller than a
small elephant. Yet they are all thought “big” in a certain context.
But because we understand those contexts, we don’t expect a big
cockroach to knock over the refrigerator. This perspective, however, is
sorely lacking when the matter is political parties.

  • Schooling in the Third Millennium: Bible Out, Sodom In

    2052845_low By Selwyn Duke

If anyone needs more evidence as to how we live in a topsy-turvy age
of moral turpitude, two recent news stories provide it. One is out of
the Marple Newtown School District in suburban Philadelphia, where a
school decreed that a Bible couldn’t be read during show-and-tell.
Then, across the country in Alameda, California, there is a mandatory
new curriculum that draws an equivalency between normal marriage and
    the faux variety.

Now, I could mention how Scripture told us there would come a time
when good would be called bad and bad would be called good, but then
this piece would be rendered inappropriate for school reading.

This short clip is from the 1940 movie The Ghost Breakers. If you watch it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Ah, how I long for the days when common sense could still be found in Hollywood.

  • Guest Piece: The Biggest Problem of the Mainstream Media

    By Bruce Walker

    The media – newspapers,
magazines, book publishing, radio, television, and film – have never at any
point in the history of our nation been impartial.  Newspapers were once
the whole heart and substance of our media.  They provided news, opinion,
entertainment, advice, humor, advertisements and information.  Newspapers
    were often unabashed partisans.

  • Sugar and Spice and Nothing Nice

    Female Soldier By Selwyn Duke

The Girl Scouts' new curriculum is rife with eastern mysticism, New
Ageism, feminism, moral relativism, and communist and lesbian role
    models.

Girl Scout cookies may still be sugar and spice, but the same can no
longer be said of the organization itself. This is owing to a new
curriculum adopted by the Scouts called “Journeys” — a fitting name, as
it’s a real trip to the dark side. Chelsea Schilling at WorldNetDaily
reports on this new curriculum, writing, “When many parents think of
Girl Scouts, they imagine young girls in uniform selling Thin Mints and
Tagalong cookies – not learning about stone labyrinths, world peace,
global warming, yoga, avatars, smudging incense, Zen gardens and
feminist, communist and lesbian role models.” Yet this is precisely
what Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) is now pushing.

  • The Tears of the Goddess of Liberty

    American Eagle By Bruce Walker

Twenty years ago the light of liberty flickered briefly in
China.  In May 1989, Chinese students built a “Goddess of Liberty,”
alternatively called a “Goddess of Democracy,” in Tiananmen Square.
Throughout much of China, the subjects of the nation, on the fortieth
anniversary of the Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War, expressed their
support for liberty as well.  The whole world watched.  Then, on May
30, 1989, twenty years ago, the tanks of the People’s Liberation Army (the
ultimate oxymoron) violently crushed the mass gathering and crushed all public
dissent.  All this happened while the whole world watched.  There
could be no pretense any longer that this was the People’s Republic.  It
    was, instead, the Oligarchs’ Republic.
