  • Oh, So Brave: Artists Afraid to Mock Moslems

    Whenever an artist creates a work that impugns tradition or mocks Christianity, it is often said that he is "brave" for challenging the "status quo."  Of course, the status quo they’re challenging is that of bygone days, the one that, like an old soldier, didn’t die but just faded away.  Thus, these stout-hearted souls aren’t speaking truth to power, but merely using their power to assail out-of-fashion truth.  In fact, I have always said that if they really want to earn their stripes, they should start attacking Islam.

  • Because She’s a Woman

    It’s very easy to fall behind the times.  It is for this reason that you find parents who never seem to really know what the younger generation is involved in, older folks who still act as if a hot dog should be 10 cents, and people who fight yesterday’s social battles.  As to the last thing, there are those who ask if a woman can be elected president.

    The real question is, can a man running against a woman be elected president?

  • Bible: Those Who Do Not Work, Should Not Eat

    It’s so often the case today that the New Testament of the Bible is placed in the service of liberalism.  The leftists who do this often have never read it, but that doesn’t stop them from didactically quoting such  lines as "Do not judge lest you be judged"; of course, they never balance it with the command to "Judge with righteous judgment."  Then, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone . . ."  is never followed by "The road to Heaven is narrow, and few shall pass; the road to Hell is wide, and easily traveled."  But this is to be expected in an age of designer religion.

  • Waiting for a Light Bulb to Go Off in the Liberal Mind

    On the radio today I heard Congressman Anthony Weiner, a member of the New York contingent and a liberal of true Empire State pedigree.  You can’t miss Weiner; he’s a gangly sort, obviously the guy whose meals fellow NY Rep.  Jerrold Nadler has been stealing (take a gander at Nadler and you’ll know what I mean).  Weiner was talking about a bill he proposed that would seek to cut down on the amount of materials manufacturers use to package their products.

  • Billionaires Aiding and Abetting the Enemy

    During WWII, the medium of film was used to great effect in the combating nations’ war efforts.  Adolf Hitler had his propaganda filmmaker extraordinaire, Leni Riefenstahl, who exalted Nazi Germany.  But such film footage was used to demonize as well, and we certainly characterized the Japanese in less than flattering terms.  (The Japanese gave as good as they got, calling the Western man "the hairy white ape.")

    We had a co-president during the Clinton reign who was dubbed "The Smartest Woman in the World." No, it wasn’t Bill; although considered intelligent, Bill didn’t benefit from the application of that superlative.
