• Politico Journo Calls “Rights Come From God” a “Christian Nationalist” Belief

Back to School DuncecapBy Selwyn Duke

“We hold these truths to be self-evident; all men and women created by…go…you know, you know the thing,” said Joe Biden in 2020. We don’t know if his inability to remember the famous Declaration of Independence line means he isn’t a “Christian nationalist” or if the fact he tried to means he is, but we know whom to ask: journalist Heidi Przybyla.

Przybyla is the Politico hire who recently claimed that believing people “are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights” makes you a Christian nationalist — and that you’re then not a “Christian.”

This brought understandable mockery, with all and sundry pointing out that the belief is mainstream in America, being integral to our Republic’s founding and embraced by disparate ideologues across our political spectrum. Przybyla then responded, claiming her remarks were taken out of context. There is context, too — but the most charitable conclusion it suggests is that the journalist’s mouth got a step ahead of her brain.

  • New Study Debunks “Trans” Theory: “Transitioning” Kids Does NOT Save Lives

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

“Would you rather have a living son or dead daughter?” This question, often asked marketing-style of parents whose child desires so-called gender reassignment procedures, is not just unethical, says the leader of a groundbreaking new study on sexually confused youths.

It is also, says psychiatrist Dr. Riittakerttu Kaltiala, “not based on facts.”

For in reality, administering sexual-distortion treatments (SDTs, aka “gender-reassignment” treatments) does not lower sexually confused youths’ suicide rate.

This is not just because you can’t actually changes sexes, but only become a simulacrum of the opposite one. It’s also because any tendency toward suicide — and sexually confused youths’ suicide rate is only marginally higher than that of average-age mates — is caused by their having psychiatric issues, and not necessarily their sexual confusion, per se.

  • Do Gun “Buybacks” Do More Harm Than Good?

    Revolver-Colt LargeBy Selwyn Duke

About a quarter century ago, there was a feel-good story about Colorado schoolchildren who’d raised approximately $35,000 to “buy the freedom” of 601 Sudanese slaves. The intentions were surely good. Yet even if those slaves actually were freed, what was to stop the African slavers from seizing more slaves to replenish their stock, seeing the market that exists for them? So the effort, it would seem, was symbolism over substance.

Is it the same with gun “buyback” programs? None other than the liberal Atlantic answers yes.

  • Black Gubernatorial Candidate Calls for Reparations — From Blacks!

    Political-Rep-Dem Street SignBy Selwyn Duke

We don’t know if, as late black economist Professor Walter Williams would occasionally quip, he’s “black by popular demand,” but Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson (R-N.C.) sure is getting attention.

This will happen when you do things such as calling for reparations — from blacks.

Robinson, who’s running for North Carolina’s governorship and appears a lock to win the GOP primary, is certainly an iconoclastic candidate. No, he doesn’t actually believe that blacks should pay reparations to whites; he was making a point about the foolishness of the slavery reparations argument. But it is absolutely true that Robinson is no fan of grievance politics or even the civil-rights movement, calling the latter a “communist plot to subvert capitalism.”

  • Glass Houses? Dem House Whip Says GOP Gun “Extremism” Is Killing People

    Ar15By Selwyn Duke

“GOP extremism is marring the soul of the American people,” wrote Representative Katherine Clark of Massachusetts in a Wednesday tweet. Clark, Congress’ Democratic whip, was announcing that she’d visited Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School earlier this year and had just shared “thoughts” at Newsweek about how nothing has changed since the 2018 Parkland massacre: There’s still death and destruction, is the idea — because of Republicans’ Second Amendment advocacy.

Clark’s article is a case study in style over substance, propaganda over prudence, rhetoric over reality, as she dramatically tells of seeing “unfinished writing assignments and the lesson plans scrawled on white boards” in Parkland and of a child drawing “their last breath.” Unfortunately for her, however, while a “whip” is a party’s enforcer, she can’t whip the Truth into complying with a lie.

  • The Pfizer Law? Statists Now Aim to Arrest People Who Reject “Medical Knowledge”

    Man in Handcuffs2By Selwyn Duke

“Consensus is the business of politics,” said late author Michael Crichton in 2003. “Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right.” While true, being right and doing actual science may get you arrested under a bill that just passed in France’s National Assembly — if your activities are deemed contrary to “medical knowledge.”

The problem is that “medical knowledge” has a history of fallibility, with bloodletting and lobotomies once having been standard practice based on “medical knowledge.” More recently, we heard Dr. Anthony Fauci say that “attacks on me quite frankly are attacks on science” as he claimed final-authority status on medical knowledge. Yet some of his pronouncements were very, very wrong.

As for the bill, it might apply only to those pressuring a particular individual or individuals to act contrary to establishment medicine. Yet critics fear it could mean imprisonment for criticizing Covid mRNA injections. Moreover, those skeptical about the “transgender” agenda could be victimized as well, as the measure also reportedly targets those deemed to be harming “psychological health.”

  • Gaslighting: To Help Reelect Biden, Media Claim Trump Is Going Senile, Too

    874847_lowBy Selwyn Duke

It’s quite timely that after writing on article yesterday on media bias, the following headline popped up on my MSN homepage:

“Donald Trump’s cognitive decline worse than Joe Biden’s due to 2 signs, professor says.”

Notice what’s assumed (and what’s assumed is learned best) in the above headline:

We’re to take it as a given that Trump is declining cognitively. The only question is the severity. Of course, the message here is essentially, “Yeah, our guy Biden is senile. But the other guy is even more senile! Vote Incumbent Dementia!”

And that, citizens, is what you call gaslighting.

  • There Can’t be a “Trans Genocide” — Because “Trans” People Don’t Exist

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

Much as our esteemed psychological profession defines “gender dysphoria,” there’s also a phenomenon known as “species dysphoria.” I do understand that among mental-health practitioners it’s known as “Species Identity Disorder” (or “clinical lycanthropy”), but give it time. “Gender dysphoria” used to be “Gender Identity Disorder” (and should be “Sexual Identity Disorder”) until that was deemed “stigmatizing” to the disordered.
