Being normal, in the sense of optimal, ain’t what it used to be.

That is, almost universally recognized as ideal.

In fact, a war on normality has long been afoot, and the latest example is a prominent YouTuber who’s being slammed for doing what Jesus did (though not single-handedly or supernaturally): cure blindness.

At issue is YouTube sensation MrBeast (actual name Jimmy Donaldson), who, it turns out, “is the highest-earning creator on the platform with a record-breaking 136 million subscribers….

If you’re tired of giving money to woke corporations that fund political correctness with your pocketbook and then laugh all the way to the bank, well, you now may be able to wipe that smile right off their faces. For there’s a new big-business player in town: a patriotic online marketplace called Public Square (PublicSq.).

What’s more, with reports that it’s set to merge with Colombier Acquisition Corporation in a $200 million dollar deal, the hope is that it will give every consumer an Amazon-like alternative to our increasingly woke business world.

In the 1992 book The End of History and the Last Man, philosopher Francis Fukuyama posited that “liberal democracy” would become the world’s unassailable, default norm. Since then, many would argue, we’ve gotten much liberalism and the appearance of democracy, but the substance doesn’t match the style. And a recent study of liberty in the world vindicates that claim.

In fact, finds the Cato Institute’s latest edition of the Human Freedom Index, after reaching a high point in 2007 (just before the Obama years, do note), worldwide freedom had been in steady decline. But that has changed:

It entered steep decline with the Covid-19 situation in 2020.

Yet even in this world of diminished liberty in which capturing a good freedom ranking is easier, the United States has lost ground relative to other nations. It now ranks only 23rd, behind countries such as Germany, Canada, and Britain, and former communist lands such as Latvia and Estonia. America had been sixth in the world in the year 2000.

Anger is like darkness: The more there is, the less you can see.

This is a good reason why angry people shouldn’t helm social-change movements and, to the point here, why they shouldn’t devise school history curricula.

A good example of such a person might be one complaining about “legislation that seeks to shield white children from facing the facts of white supremacy — mandating that a ‘person should not be instructed that he or she must feel guilt, anguish, or other forms of psychological distress for actions, in which he or she played no part, committed in the past by other members of the same race.’”

The above is, of course, not hypothetical, but was written by a social activist and Guardian columnist….

The pilot had a history of acting “impulsively” during training and “an inability to remain calm during stressful situations,” an investigator said. These deficits would prove deadly, too, one fateful February day.

That’s right, Conrad Aska’s checkered flying past didn’t prevent him from being at the helm of Atlas Air Flight 3591, a cargo-carrying Boeing 767-375ER(BCF) traveling from Miami to Houston. But this wasn’t training, and when Aska hit the wrong switch as a result of turbulence and then became disoriented when the plane accelerated, he inadvertently plunged the craft into an unrecoverable dive.

How can you know the “transgender” narrative is perhaps starting to collapse?

Answer: when even hardcore liberals begin questioning it. And, well, that’s finally happening.

First there was a February 9 piece by ex-pediatric “gender” clinic worker Jamie Reed, who describes herself as “left of Bernie Sanders,” in which she warned that what such facilities visit upon kids is “morally and medically appalling.” Now a left-wing San Francisco-based filmmaker is singing a similar tune, stating that she was all in on sexual distortion treatments (SDTs, my terminology, not hers) — that is, until her own son said he wanted them.

Coming out of his sociology class, Jayson was stoked. Wading into current events, his instructor, Professor Berger, had mentioned that not only did Joe Biden offer developing nations “climate reparations” at the recent COP27 climate summit, but that their university had agreed to drop its Western Civ. requirement. “Finally,” he thought, “progress!” as he got into his car to make the 50-minute trip to his girlfriend’s house to meet her parents. Jayson was still mad, though. “I hate this @#$^&*! Western society,” he said to himself, “with its structural racism, patriarchal and heteronormative oppression — and Christian fundies. We’ve gotta' end it!” Yet he was risking ending himself. Fiddling with his electronics while trying to play some music and, again, quite exercised, he didn’t notice he was taking the approaching curve a bit too fast and that, after the day’s rains, some mud was slickening the road. Fear coursed through him as he lost control of the car — and spun down into a gully.

Increasingly, Americans are learning that there’s no valid science behind so-called transgenderism, and that the term is not a scientific designation but a political one. What’s more, despite modern-day Lysenkoists’ best efforts at convincing us that “gender identity disorder” (GID) has a biological basis and thus requires a biological (physical) fix, people may be more likely than ever to accept the truth that it’s a psychological disorder.

Yet Americans do generally believe that the MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, aka “transgender”) agenda is driven by people with GID and their enablers, and/or by men seeking to advantage themselves by masquerading as women. While the latter motivation is, in fairness, rare except in cases of male prison inmates, there is another ill wind under the MUSS agenda’s wings, one of which few are aware.

It’s called autogynephilia.
