“It’s like Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” said a quite astute friend a long, long time ago. He was describing how people and institutions would be “snatched” by leftism and start operating as a bizarre collective with alien ideas. Enter (or maybe it’s “exit”?) the Boy Scouts of America.

It was only in the 1990s and into 2000 that the BSA went to court to defend its policies against accepting girls and openly homosexual members and its policy of having God in its pledge. It won those battles. But the dam broke in the 20-teens, with the organization first accepting openly homosexual youth, then likewise disposed leaders, then girls who think they’re boys and, finally, girls who know they’re girls. And if there was any doubt before, the BSA has now come full circle, with an anti-white “diversity and inclusion” badge Eagle Scout requirement.

As virtue declines in our land, we more and more become a nation not of laws but men. This has been called the “Third Worlding” of America, a phenomenon whereby, for one thing, power is increasingly used to destroy political opponents by any means necessary. If you still don’t think there are now at least two standards for “justice” in our country, consider American Idol finalist Caleb Kennedy.

That is, ex-American Idol finalist. 

You see, Kennedy has now had to leave the show because of a three-second video in which he’s seated next to a child wearing a white hood “resembling Ku Klux Klan apparel.”

Not actual KKK wear, I’ll emphasize, but something resembling it.

Oh, the singer was reportedly 12 years old when the video was shot, too. Now his music career may be shot, all due to “cancel culture,” which many leftists swear doesn’t even exist.

They’re half right, too: It sure doesn’t exist for leftists.

At Social Security’s birth, it was promised that workers would never be taxed for the program at more than six percent of their income. Today SS takes 12.4 percent. The government had long said there were “only” 11 million illegal aliens in our nation, but academic studies place the actual number at two to three times higher. The Centers for Disease Control had maintained that the risk of contracting the coronavirus outdoors was “less than 10 percent,” but it turns out the agency made a bush-league mistake: The actual number may be less than 0.1 percent.

Even though the above well reflects the government’s track record, there could certainly be an exception to the apparent rule that government numbers are as accurate as a blind archer with vertigo. I’m not aware of one, though. This brings us to the claim that “500,000 Americans have died of COVID.” Is this really a possible first, that elusive exception to the state errancy norm?

My father, raised during the Great Depression, once told an interesting story about his childhood. He one day noticed that a couple of men were following him around. It turned out that there’d been a kidnapping threat against him — his father was a physician, making him a target in those desperate times — and the two fellows were government agents assigned to watch him.

Question: Were those agents “obsessed,” in some negative way, with my dad’s boyhood walks about town?

They certainly might have been — if we were to apply a certain kind of leftist thinking.

It was said during our Mideast military adventures, and has been considered a truism of war, that you can’t really win a conflict without “boots on the ground.” For it’s difficult to completely subdue a people from afar. It may not be too different with battles for civilization.

I stated in 2012, addressing a long-developing reality, that the culture war was over as the Left had achieved social dominance. “What is occurring now is a pacification effort,” I wrote — one designed to stamp out the “conservative” guerrilla-group diehards.

Other than its intensification, the only thing that has changed about this effort in the last decade is that it has a new name: “cancel culture.” With GoogTwitFace (Big Tech) having upped its bias and dropped its mask and corporate America joining academia, the media and entertainment on the Dark Side, these entities act as a malevolent monolith silencing dissident voices from Maine to Maui. But it would be naïve to think the Left, which craves power and wants total control, will be satisfied with its current soft authoritarianism.

California used to be the land of Ronald Reagan, the state’s pro-life, pro-school-prayer, small-government, two-term chief executive. Today, many Republicans pin their gubernatorial hopes on Bruce Jenner, a man who thinks he’s a woman, calls himself Caitlyn, and who advocates amnesty for illegal aliens. Yet both Reagan and Jenner are branded “conservative.”

What’s wrong with this picture?

Attorney and pastor Scott Lively has some idea: “‘Conservatism,’” he writes, “has always been a losers[’] game for those who forget what it is we’re supposed to be ‘conserving.’”
