• Canceling Conifers? Triggering Tree May be Too “Racist” to be School Mascot

    Politically CorrectBy Selwyn Duke

They probably thought they’d finally come up with a school mascot so banal, so antiseptic, so plain vanilla that it couldn’t possibly offend anyone. That is, until a school official suggested that evergreen trees could conjure thoughts of black people being lynched.

Never mind the ridiculousness of having a tree as a mascot in the first place (more on that momentarily). Now we have the moronic being trumped by the idiotic.

  • Canceling Cancel Culture

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

In 212 B.C., 460 scholars were “canceled,” permanently, when Emperor Qin Shi Huang had them buried alive for owning forbidden books. The Qin, who’d united China, made the argument, “We don’t want to hear people criticize the present by referring to the past,” Harvard University Chinese history professor Peter Bol told the BBC in 2012. “The past is irrelevant. History is irrelevant. And so you have the burning of books, you have the burying of scholars, of scholarly critics.”

When the renders and “reimaginers” of civilization today bury people and the past, figuratively, it’s the reputational and career destruction known as “cancel culture.” Ah, that’s a trendy term, it is, and people unmoored from tradition love trendy terms. Whatever you call it, however, the process is obviously nothing new. And though perhaps Bol is correct in saying that we “wouldn’t have a China without Qin Shi Huang” — and, maybe then, also no Mao Tse-tung — we’d still have cancel culture without Qin, China, or Mao.

Likewise, to really change the hearts and minds of man, to control the past so you can control the future, to paraphrase Orwell, you must control the present so you can control the past. And our cancel cultists control the present well enough so that they’re delivering a Year Zero — a remaking of our culture — by a thousand cuts.

  • The Gospel According to Raphael Warnock

    1746135_lowBy Selwyn Duke

Senator Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) is Christian — or so he says. But many Americans may suspect otherwise after he tweeted an “Easter” message Sunday stating that we could “save ourselves…through a commitment to helping others.” He has since deleted the tweet, but not before he was savaged for peddling “false doctrine,” “blasphemy,” “unbiblical theology,” and “heresy.”

The far-left Warnock, who claims that “America needs to repent for its worship of whiteness” and who supports a religious mentor who has described white people as “satanic,” is an ordained minister who achieved fame by acting as senior pastor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s former church in Atlanta. Now his “Easter message” (below) is further tarnishing his reputation.

  • Masking Truth: The Democrats’ COVID Science Denialism

    By Selwyn Duke

While I’ve never met a Neanderthal, I suspect that our current society probably isn’t one that should be impugning their thinking. For example, whatever Neanderthals’ faults, they surely knew the difference between boys and girls and didn’t entertain fancies such as "Our strength lies in our diversity." This comes to mind with the controversy over mask-wearing and Joe Biden’s recent claim that easing apparently unnecessary COVID-19 restrictions is “Neanderthal thinking.”

  • Pete Buttigieg “Bikes” to Cabinet Meeting — After SUV Drives Him Most of the Way There

    Shell GameBy Selwyn Duke

They don’t call ‘em limousine liberals for nuthin’.

Okay, in fairness, it was an SUV in Pete Buttigieg’s case. Regardless, the openly homosexual transportation secretary can’t be feeling too gay after he was busted fudging his transportation.

That is, he wanted a photo op of his being a good little green man biking to a cabinet meeting; instead, video reveals him being driven to a point where he could just casually pedal — a little propaganda and to his destination. Who says politics isn’t performance art?

  • Ignored Va. Mass Shooting Gets at Truth: Contrary to Media Narrative, Most Mass Shooters Are NOT White

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

It has been called the lie that won’t die: that most mass shooters are white. People believe it, too, with carnage committed by whites, such as the Georgia massage-parlor shootings, getting front-page treatment. In contrast, a recent Virginia Beach mass shooting has been largely ignored, and largely for an obvious reason:

It doesn’t fit the mainstream media narrative because it actually reflects the mass-shooting norm.

  • Lockdown Folly? Lockdown-averse Amish May Now Have Covid Herd Immunity, Says Health Official

    Science Lab BeakersBy Selwyn Duke

No COVID-19 regulations, no masks, no social distancing, plus sharing communion cups and “holy kisses” equals — herd immunity? This may very well be the case with a Pennsylvania Amish community, according to a health official. It also may indicate where the wider society has gone wrong.

  • Loudon Looniness: Teacher Scolds Student for Not Being Race-obsessed

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

The cultural revolutionaries see the world through colored glasses — and they want you to also. This reality again comes to mind after a video surfaced of a teacher berating a high-school student because the young man was not sufficiently race-obsessed. In fact, the incident tells us much about leftists and their agenda, and about how conservatives must avoid combating them with poor arguments.
