The Wuhan coronavirus is “dying,” but the media aim to keep it alive — and are killing our economy in the process. This is essentially the message of a physician who proclaims, citing hard data, “We have nearly won the fight against COVID.”

The mainstream news never fails to pound home the message that COVID-19 is “spiking” in much of the country, places such as Texas, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, Utah, California, Georgia, and Colorado. The idea is that letting people resume their normal lives — allowing freedom — is a mistake and that some “lockdown” rules may have to stay in effect until there’s a “cure” (i.e., almost forever).

“We’re just one election away from full-blown socialism,” a man recently said to me during a short conversation. This sentiment has become increasingly common lately, even, notably, among the previously apolitical. Yet something is overlooked:

In keeping with President Reagan’s observation, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction,” being one election away from tyranny means that not enough people noticed and took action when we were one generation away — or two or three.

Also perhaps overlooked is that being one election away from tyranny now means we’ll be one election away after the next election — whatever happens November 3. The point is that politics being downstream from culture (and, really, from morality, faith and philosophy), this isn’t merely a “moment.” It’s not a fashion. It won’t just pass. And we need be prepared for things to come.

It wasn’t a week ago that this site published the article “On Mob’s Side, Government Tells Citizens: You’re on Your Own — but Don’t DARE Defend Yourself.” It related the story of a Virginia mother and young child who, being attacked by a “protesting” mob, were told by a dispatcher there was nothing the police could do and that they should complain to city hall. And now, mere days later, comes the story of a husband and wife who defended themselves from a mob and now are fighting city hall — in fact, they may face criminal charges.

Some may wonder if the NBA now stands for No Brains Anymore or, perhaps, if the NBA has become an NPC. Whatever the quip, what sounds like a joke but isn’t is the latest National Basketball Association news:

When the league launches its abbreviated 2020 season July 30 in Orlando, it will allow players to replace their names on their jerseys with a “social justice statement.”

Yeah, I know, it sounds like the Wuhan virus is now affecting gray matter or maybe afflicts journalists with an irresistible desire to pen satire. Alas, no, this instead is yet another example of 2020 America’s truth being stranger than fiction, as a league that knelt for the Anthem now bows before asininity.

The group chanted “What do we want? Dead cops!” and advocates “disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.” But that hasn’t stopped Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.) from supporting Black Lives Matter (BLM) and pandering to it by proposing a bill that would further handicap police, say critics.

“We can’t do anything, ma’am. The city told us this is a sanctioned event,” said the police dispatcher to Virginian Tara Durant. Durant had called 911, frantic, because she’d been stopped in Fredericksburg by violent protesters, some of whom were jumping on her car.

Incredulous and fearing for her five-year-old daughter, who was with her, Durant could be heard in the recording exclaiming “Get out of my car!” and “They’re on my car!” The dispatcher’s response? Apart from offering the advice “Don’t hit anyone with your vehicle,” she told the mother:

“Yes, ma’am. We would suggest you call up city hall to let them know about your frustrations.”

The current unrest convulsing our nation certainly does reflect treason, sedition, and insurrection, though some may wonder how many are noticing. But President Trump certainly noticed, tweeting Thursday that a Black Lives Matter (BLM) leader who threatened to “burn down this system” if the government doesn’t “give us what we want” is guilty of just those things.

Illustrating how emboldened the BLM terrorists have become is that their threat-issuing leader, Hawk Newsome, didn’t shout his warning during an impassioned street riot. Rather, the Greater New York BLM president made his comments, soberly, while being interviewed Wednesday on the Fox News Channel….
