Equality is the chief faux virtue of our time. Our obsession with it brings to mind the great G.K. Chesterton’s observation, “The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected.”

Long ago the West erred by exalting “equality” at, ultimately, quality’s — and sanity’s — expense. In fact, it’s at a point where boys claiming girlhood are allowed in girls’ bathrooms and locker areas based on equality dogma. How do we correct this mistake? First, stop being connedservative and realize that few people have pondered equality deeply and that, of those who have, few actually believe in it.

President Trump’s ex-lawyer Michael Cohen has flipped, starting to sing like a bird to Special Counsel Robert Mueller. And what does the oh-so shocking tune that has got the media all aflutter amount to, boiled down?

The world’s most famous real-estate developer, who apparently owns or controls more than 500 businesses in a couple of dozen countries, sought to develop real-estate in the world’s largest country: Russia.

It’s a scandal right up there with “World’s fastest sprinter sprints in China” and “Our time’s best boxer may box in Russia.” Big countries attract bigwigs with big ideas. It’s collusion, alright.

Of course, Cohen himself is in a spot of trouble.

The doom business is quite profitable, both financially and politically, and thus are we treated to yet another weather-end-times poll, this one a Monmouth University survey indicating that two-thirds of Republicans now believe in “climate change.”

Of course, people should believe in it because the climate is always changing — naturally. Whether man is influencing this change, however, is a different matter.

What’s an empire without an army? It’s just a thought, an ambition, a dream. This reality explains the proposal for a European Union army. So says an author and social commentator who writes that we should not just be incredulous and ridicule the proposal — we should be alarmed. For he believes the EU military would ultimately have a dark purpose: to, if necessary, kill other Europeans.

It’s not usually as ridiculous as Al Gore trying to sound like Martin Luther King, Jr. at black churches or Barack Obama using a “ghetto-style accent” before black audiences. But a new study shows that Democrats really do talk down to minorities, whereas white Republicans speak essentially the same way to both white and non-white audiences.

As the Washington Times reports, “Yale and Princeton researchers found that both white Democratic presidential candidates and self-identified liberals played down their competence when speaking to minorities, using fewer words that conveyed accomplishment and more words that expressed warmth.”

This is typically known as playing upon people’s emotions — otherwise called “demagoguery.”

It’s a testimonial as to why “gun control” should mean hitting your target. While a study shows that 98 percent of mass shootings occur in “gun free” zones, a more recent study indicates how these events can be thwarted: by armed citizens. In fact, it finds that when such Americans are present, they have a 94-percent success rate at stopping or impeding active shooters.

We’ve already seen an early step involving language manipulation, with illegal aliens euphemistically rebranded “undocumented workers.” But the larger goal, if British politician Janice Atkinson is correct, is to remake the West through massive Third World migration.

Atkinson, an independent member of the European Parliament for South East England, is warning about the “Global Compact for Migration” (GCM), a little known United Nations scheme.

War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength — and men are women. Unlike the first three, the last comment wasn’t an example of doublethink from Orwell’s 1984, but one from America 2018. In fact, tweeting the opposite, that “men aren’t women,” actually got a radical feminist banned from Twitter.

While it’s usually conservatives in the crosshairs of social-media censorship, one of its latest victims is Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy, a self-described socialist and founder of the website and podcast Feminist Current. Yet her views on “transgenderism” weren’t current enough for Twitter.

In his Obergefell v. Hodges same-sex “marriage” dissent in 2015, U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts (shown) lamented the opinion and wrote, “[D]o not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with [the ruling].” It was a bold rebuke of his colleagues in the majority, whom he was condemning for, it’s clear, acting not as judges but politicians. This is the same John Roberts that just rebuked President Trump for complaining that too many jurists act not as judges but politicians.

Of course, this is also the same John Roberts who in 2012 acted as a politician, essentially “rewriting” ObamaCare so he could vote to uphold the law. It’s all just more evidence for why the judiciary, being quite fallible, should not enjoy the power known as judicial supremacy.

“No one asked the people of the UK if we wanted our culture and way of life destroyed.” So said Janice Atkinson, an independent Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for South East England, in a recent interview. The stateswoman, author of the book Migrant Crime Wave: The EU Cover-Up Revealed, also lamented that Britons “have imported the third world, and are now suffering from third world practices.”
