This is the problem “democracy” has today, suggests pundit Pat Buchanan, and this is partially because of the current behavior of its main representative: US.
The United States used to be a shining city on a hill, possessing not just the muscle but the moral stature to spread its message. Thus did we help propagate representative government across the Earth.

When is “far right” actually moderate?
When it’s defined by the far Left.
Such appears the case with Spain’s Vox party, which was vaulted to prominence in December 2’s Andalucían election. As the Guardian writes, “The 12 seats it picked up in Andalucía’s 109-seat parliament exceeded all expectations and could see the socialist PSOE party lose control of the heartland it has governed since 1982.”
“In the last Andalucían election three years ago, the PP [the ostensibly “conservative” People’s party] took 61% of the vote in the barrio, with Vox limping far behind on 3.2%. On Sunday, the PP’s share of the vote in Los Remedios was down to 37.3%; Vox’s was up to 24.7%,” the Guardian also informs.
Yet again proving that its primary function isn’t guardian of truth but of leftism, the paper also writes that, “more importantly,” Vox “ended four decades of Spanish exceptionalism and showed that the country’s fabled immunity to far-right politics had finally given out.”

That recent reports of an intention to overthrow the French government came from Le Figaro, the nation’s oldest national daily and a newspaper of record, speaks volumes. It suggests the threat was credible, though not realistic, and this reflects the deep discontent with imperious Western-establishment pseudo-elites that gave us Brexit, Donald Trump’s election, and, now, the “Yellow Vest” movement.

The Italians don’t have anyone like the Nebraska principal who recently tried to baneven candy canes and red and green items at Christmastime. But they do have a war on the season, as some Italian schools have moved to prohibit Nativity scenes and crucifixes in the name of “inclusiveness” and “respect for other cultures.”
This prompted a backlash from the ruling patriotic government, with Interior Minister Matteo Salvini calling the move “idiocy” and writing that the Christmas displays are “not just about religion, but about history, roots, culture.” He added, “I will not give up! Long live our traditions, and may they spread!”

“Islam justifies killing and war in its sacred texts.” So said American Catholic priest Mario Alexis Portella in a striking, but mostly ignored, recent interview. The author of the new book Islam: Religion of Peace? The Violation of Natural Rights and Western Cover-Up, Portella is also quoted as having said that unless the Koran changes, dialogue with Islam is “useless.”

When radical Susan Sontag said in 1967 that the “white race is the cancer of human history,” it was a fringe view. Now it’s mainstream, with the latest example being a university “whiteness forum” claiming that that the VeggieTales cartoon and NFL are “racist” and that white female Trump supporters advance white supremacy.

It’s a shocking revelation right up there with rain is wet and fire is hot: Contrary to immigrationist assurances, census numbers inform that a vast majority — 63 percent — of non-citizens are on welfare. This amounts to 4,684,784 immigrant households. Assimilation does change this, though.
After being here 10 years or more, 70 percent of them are on welfare.
Moreover, about half of these handout recipients are in our country illegally.

It’s not yet like the Romans throwing Christians to the lions for practicing their faith, but the Phoenix government may be throwing them in jail — for refusing to service same-sex “weddings.” It’s a shocking reality that inspired two Arizona Christian artists to sue the city in 2016, and now their case will be taken up by their state’s supreme court.
Breanna Koski and Joanna Duka are the owners of Brush & Nib Studio, a business born of the goal to recreate “the beauty God placed all around us and to share that beauty with others. And this goal made it natural for Joanna and Breanna to focus on artwork for weddings, one of the most beautiful days in someone’s life,” relates the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), which is representing the artists.
While the women’s case is preemptive — they haven’t yet had a complaint filed against them — history informs that it’s only a matter of time. Christian bakers and other businessmen in certain states have been already fined exorbitant sums, $135,000 in one case, and have even put out of business for refusing to be party to faux weddings.
Yet when the artists investigated what could befall them in their locality, what “they found was worse than they imagined.

Equality is the chief faux virtue of our time. Our obsession with it brings to mind the great G.K. Chesterton’s observation, “The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected.”
Long ago the West erred by exalting “equality” at, ultimately, quality’s — and sanity’s — expense. In fact, it’s at a point where boys claiming girlhood are allowed in girls’ bathrooms and locker areas based on equality dogma. How do we correct this mistake? First, stop being connedservative and realize that few people have pondered equality deeply and that, of those who have, few actually believe in it.
