• We’ll “Just Do It,” Says College — We’re Dumping Nike Products

    Divided AmericaBy Selwyn Duke

Nike just did it, taking the plunge into full-bore anti-Americanism by making disgraced ex-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick its latest ad campaign’s face. While this caused nationwide outrage among traditionalists, many wouldn’t expect higher education to take the higher road here. But there is an exception: Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia. The school announced Friday that it is completely severing its relationship with Nike.

The university’s president, Dr. Emir Caner, said that his institution will no longer purchase or sell goods created by a company that endorses someone who “mocks our troops.”

  • “Women Have It Better,” Admits Female Journalist

    Arm-wrestling-Man vs. WomanBy Selwyn Duke

“I am woman,” goes the old feminist rallying cry, “hear me roar.” But “hear me whine” may be more accurate, is the message of writer Karol Markowicz. Inspired by Democrat Senator Kamala Harris’ grandstanding at the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, Markowicz just penned a New York Post piece titled “‘Feminist’ denial on all the ways women have it better” — and the dogma she challenges can cause spontaneous bra-burner combustion.

Markowicz opens saying how wonderful it is when feminist arguments are poorly reasoned and self-refuting. She then goes on to relate current Exhibit A, writing, “In a widely shared moment late last week, Sen. Kamala Harris asked Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, ‘Can you think of any laws that give government the power to make decisions about the male body?’”

    Markowicz can. Her answer:…

  • Serena Williams’ U.S. Open Tantrum Reflects Society’s Wider Problems

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

There was nothing serene about Serena Williams at this year’s U.S. Open, with her on-court tantrum taking the spotlight away from the winner, Naomi Osaka. But the incident also should shine a spotlight on the wider problems it reflects — namely, political correctness and the growing contempt for rules.

For those unacquainted with the story, Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, violated the code of conduct by using hand signals to coach his player from the seating area during Saturday's women's final. Williams received only a warning for this — but she wouldn’t let it go. Becoming irrational, she demanded an apology from the chair umpire, Carlos Ramos. She continued in this vein and was consequently issued a point penalty for bad behavior, after which she called Ramos a “thief.” Williams also broke her racquet during the incident (video below), ultimately was penalized a game, and later was fined a total of $17,000 for her three code violations. She lost to Osaka 6-2, 6-4.

But most striking is the affair’s aftermath.

  • Does Trump Have the Authority to Use Military to Build Border Wall?

Bald Eagle in Front of FlagBy Selwyn Duke

President Trump’s signature campaign issue, the border wall, has thus far has been thwarted by immigrationist congressmen. But the president now has a remedy for their obstructionism: He may have the military build the structure.

  • Leftists Are Now Advocating Racial Segregation

Chess Pieces — White-BlackBy Selwyn Duke

If you don’t like a leftist position, just wait a while. It’ll change.

A good example of this is how while liberals fought racial segregation decades ago, now they increasingly are advocating it. Just consider that at George Mason University (GMU) recently, a separate orientation was held for black students.

  • Teacher Makes Hitler Joke — School Becomes War Zone

    Politically CorrectBy Selwyn Duke

We’re not yet like Britain, where a practical joker who trained his girlfriend’s dog to give the Nazi salute was charged with a “hate crime” and punished. But we’re getting closer. Just ask Ben Frisch.

A teacher (formerly, anyway) at Friends Seminary, a private Quaker school in Manhattan, Frisch’s 34 years at his institution came to an unplanned end some months ago. The problems began when he opened his February 14 pre-calculus class and…

  • Obama’s Back, Slamming Trump and Projecting His Own Sins onto GOP

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

Barack Obama re-entered the political fray Friday, giving a speech at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in which he discussed his favorite and least favorite subjects: respectively, himself and Republicans. It was vintage Obama — meaning, his talk was long on rhetoric and short on reality — and banal enough so that, says President Trump, it put him to sleep.

Obama was in town to accept the university’s Paul H. Douglas Award for Ethics in Government, which is a bit like G.W. Bush getting an oratory prize or Bill Clinton receiving a chastity medal. But, say critics, the one giving Obama the most credit was, well, Obama.

  • Killing the Family: New Calif. Law Would Enforce Corporate “Gender” Quotas

    Angry BusinesswomanBy Selwyn Duke

First the Left wanted to force open girls’ bathrooms to boys — now it wants to compel corporations to put women on their boards.

At issue is a bill passed by California lawmakers August 30 that would mandate that “corporate boards include at least one woman by the end of 2019 and as many as three by the end of 2021, depending on size. Companies that fail to comply could face a fine up to $300,000 from the California Secretary of State,” writes the Sacramento Bee. It’s part of “The New Chivalry” phenomenon, yet almost universally overlooked is that such proposals actually hurt women and girls.

  • Are Midterm Polls Favoring Dems Cooked to Sway Public Opinion?

    Donkey-ElephantBy Selwyn Duke

Should a certain famous saying now be, “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies — and polls?” This is a good question not only after the 2016 presidential race, where “expert” prognosticators said Donald Trump had “no path to 270,” but with some recent congressional midterm polls.

Less than two weeks ago, polling outfit Rasmussen — perhaps the most reputable of them all — had the Republicans and Democrats tied on the congressional generic vote. It’s not surprising that this has changed: Rasmussen now has the Democrats up by five points. More curious is the spread between this and many other polls, an example being an ABC/Washington Post survey that gives the Democrats a plus-14 advantage. The nine-point difference is outside of any “margin of error” (a factor in polling); clearly, some very different methodology is being used. And, maybe, abused?

  • Can the Supreme Court “Annul” the Trump Presidency?

    Judge pounding GavelBy Selwyn Duke

“Don’t Impeach Trump, Annul His Presidency,” reads the headline. Illustrating how dangerous the Left has become, this wasn’t written by some unpaid HuffPo pablum propagandist who dons a mask with Antifa part time, but by Robert Reich. He served as Secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration and is an esteemed professor at UC Berkeley; you know, the kind of guy a lot of very unintellectual people consider an intellectual. And he’s not kidding.

Reich opens his piece talking about how while many on the Left believe we’re seeing the beginning of the Trump presidency’s end, he’s not so optimistic. He then repeats every far-left talking point, saying, well, here’s the shorter Reich (no, that’s not an allusion to his being 4’11”):
