• Technology and Kids: Reason to Worry or Same-old, Same-old?

    874847_lowBy Selwyn Duke

We’ve all witnessed the addiction: Not just adults, but kids, entranced by their phones-cum-computers, picking them up every chance they get. Studies show that children average 3.4 hours a day on electronic devices, while teens spend nearly nine hours daily imbibing media. But is this the problem it appears or just another old-fogey, Luddite-light concern?

  • Pope Slammed for Prioritizing Plastic Over Pederasty

    Confusion-Traffic SignsBy Selwyn Duke

Pope Francis is talking about plastics in the oceans while his church is sinking under the weight of abuse allegations, say critics. Yet while both issues are serious, neither is what it appears — and the moment provides a good opportunity to discuss both.

The newsflash is that the Catholic Church probably never had a serious “pedophilia” problem — it had a homosexuality problem — and these trespasses peaked in the 1970s and are relatively rare today. And while the oceans are increasingly clogged with plastic, this isn’t caused by America or even the West in general, as the mainstream media would imply. These realities matters because a prerequisite for prescribing the right cure is making the correct diagnosis.

  • Giddy Globalists: France’s Macron Says True Dane, True Frenchman “Does Not Exist”

God's Hand Over WorldBy Selwyn Duke

First there was the no-true-Scotsman fallacy. Now we have the no-true-Frenchman fallacy, courtesy of France’s de facto socialist president, Emmanuel Macron (shown). It’s quite a bit different, though…

  • 16 States Ask SCOTUS for Protection Against “Transgender” Tyranny

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

You’re certainly free to fire an employee if he insists on coming to work in a thong bikini. But if he’s a man dressing as a woman, then your freedom of association and business’s well being are expected to take a back seat to the "transgender" agenda. This double standard has worsened in recent times, but not everyone is taking it lying down.

  • “Monkeying” Up Our Nation With False “Racism” Charges

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

“Racism” certainly is a problem in America today. The latest example concerns Florida GOP gubernatorial hopeful Ron DeSantis’ use of the term “monkey [this] up” to warn of what would ensue were his socialist opponent elected. But the prejudice in question here isn’t actually what many think.

The controversy began when DeSantis appeared on Fox News Wednesday and said of his rival Andrew Gillum’s (D-Fla.) policies, “The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state”

  • Stupid Media and the Claim that Women are Better Drivers than Men

    Arm-wrestling-Man vs. WomanBy Selwyn Duke

There’s the Stupid Media and the Smart Media. Part of the job of the Smart Media (yours truly, among others), though it does get tiresome, is to debunk the stupidity of the Stupid Media. And such two-brain-cell reportage was on full display Wednesday with a Sky News article titled “Women are better drivers than men, study finds.”

  • Tomorrow’s Superpower? China’s Naval Build-up Could Oust U.S. from Pacific

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

If a movie scene could epitomize the situation between the United States and China, it might be the introduction of villainous boxer Clubber Lang in Rocky III. Lang is seen training hard, playing for keeps in the ring, and putting his nose to the grindstone, driven by burning ambition. Scenes of world champ Rocky Balboa are interposed, showing him slacking off, distracted by fun and frivolity, oblivious to the burgeoning threat that could knock him into oblivion.

No, China isn’t ready to club us into unconsciousness just yet, but it, well, does have the eye of the dragon. In fact, addressing a rapid naval build-up that threatens to oust the United States from the Pacific, a top American admiral wrote earlier this year that there “is no guarantee that the United States would win a future conflict with China.”

  • Google Is Not a Search Engine; Twitter and Facebook Aren’t Social Media

    Angel vs. DemonBy Selwyn Duke

That’s the headline and a little known truth. And it should be shouted from the mountaintops and to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, by our representatives, when he testifies before Congress September 5. That Google is no search engine should also be emphasized now with the revelation that 96 percent of its “Trump” news comes from liberal media outlets.

Why should we care about this? Because, says an expert, Google and Facebook (and Twitter, I’ll add), have the power to shift “upwards of 12 million votes” in November’s midterm elections.

Why Google is not a true search engine was well illustrated by an experience I had last year, which I wrote about in “How Google Censors The New American (and Other Conservatives).” As I explained May 14, 2017…

  • Swedish Anti-migration, Anti-EU Party Poised to Make Big Gains in Coming Election

Heavenly Hand Pulling Man Out of FireBy Selwyn Duke

Having orchestrated an invasion of your nation doesn’t generally help on the campaign trail. Nor is it beneficial when one of your leaders says that “the Swedes must be integrated into the new Sweden; the old Sweden is never coming back.” Thus is it no surprise that the Social Democrats, long the dominant party in Sweden, are now losing ground — and that some of this ground is being taken by a pro-Swedish, anti-(im)migration alternative: the Sweden Democrats.

  • Chinese Collusion: China Looking to Dominate U.S. From Without — and From Within

    Chinese stormtroopersBy Selwyn Duke

China’s de facto fascist regime already has its “Confucius Institutes” in our schools, its censors influencing our movies, and its government stealing our technology. Now comes word that Beijing is funding Washington think tanks and pressuring Chinese-descent Americans into doing its bidding. Add to this news that China’s military is joining Russia for war games involving simulated nuclear attacks, and painted is a clear picture of what China actually is: our primary and most dangerous geopolitical foe.

One of the tragedies of our leftists’ fretting and propagandizing over Russia — a land they took no issue with when it was the Marxist Soviet Union — is that it serves as misdirection causing us to take our eye off China. Note that China’s economy is approximately 10 times the size of Russia’s economy, the latter of which is actually $400 billion smaller than that of Texas. This is significant because military power follows economic power.
