• Lib-Dem: Change Constitution So Ocasio-Cortez Can Seek Presidency

Back to School DuncecapBy Selwyn Duke

Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez “should run for president and dare the Supreme Court to stop her.” So says a leftist writer who further emphatically states, “Immigrants, young people, and everyone else should be allowed to run.” He also says that the Constitution should be altered to allow this and calls the natural-born-American requirement “ridiculous.” Yes, utopia is an open field, open borders, open elections, and open minds — so open the brains fall out.

The proposal, by Vox editor and co-founder Matthew Yglesias, is just the latest in a cultural revolution that has torn down statues and Christmas displays, wants to eliminate the Senate and Supreme Court, and would, if it could, tear up the Constitution.

Yet we could tear up — in sadness or laughter — reading Yglesias’ fanboy trumpeting of Cortez.

  • Dems Are Damned if They Impeach, Damned if They Don’t

    Donkey-ElephantBy Selwyn Duke

It’s a testimonial to a divided America — and a divided Democrat Party. Its Machiavellian leadership, incoming House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and company, know that impeachment proceedings against President Trump wouldn’t play well in Peoria. Yet to not impeach would enrage much of the Democrat base and further empower the new, rising socialist/Dem wing of the party represented by giddy gaffe machine Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. So lose part of the middle or part of the base. What is a power mad Machiavellian to do?

In a way, the Democrats are being hoisted with their own petards. Their all-powerful public-relations team, the U.S. media, have worked the leftist mob into a frenzy with 24/7/365 anti-Trump reportage and self-assured recent claims, by those pundit Tucker Carlson calls “the stupid people on television,” that the president is guilty of an impeachable offense. Such a claim may be a journalistic offense (more on that momentarily), but while image is not reality, it can create political realities. The Democrats don’t want to be seen by their rabid supporters as letting a criminal president who’s a danger to the Republic skate. For then, you know, they’ll be part of the “conspiracy.”

So Nancy Pelosi, a crafty elder statesman, is walking a fine line.

  • Belgian (Thought) Cops Arrest Driver of Hungarian Anti-migration Van

Big Man Stepping on Small ManBy Selwyn Duke

They’re usually called the Brussels police. Now some may call them the Thought Police. Whatever the case, they recently arrested the driver of a Hungarian-government-commissioned van — because they didn’t like the anti-migration message it bore. Welcome to 1984, effete social-justice-warrior style.

  • Dying “Democracy”: The U.S. Is Losing Her Street Cred

    Failure FigureBy Selwyn Duke

When is a thing generally abandoned?

When it no longer appears to be working.

This is the problem “democracy” has today, suggests pundit Pat Buchanan, and this is partially because of the current behavior of its main representative: US.

The United States used to be a shining city on a hill, possessing not just the muscle but the moral stature to spread its message. Thus did we help propagate representative government across the Earth.

  • “Your time is up, white people”: South Africa Sets Date for “White Farmers Land-grab Law”

    By Selwyn Duke

“Your time is up, white people”: South Africa Sets Date for “White Farmers Land-grab Law”

“Your time is up, black people!” said the politician.

Actually, no, that would create a media stir. What really was said, by a South African parliamentarian, is “Your time is up, white people” as she referenced a plan to soon begin the seizure of white farmers’ land.

  • Another Supposed “Far Right” Party Rises in Europe

    Shell GameBy Selwyn Duke

When is “far right” actually moderate?

When it’s defined by the far Left.

Such appears the case with Spain’s Vox party, which was vaulted to prominence in December 2’s Andalucían election. As the Guardian writes, “The 12 seats it picked up in Andalucía’s 109-seat parliament exceeded all expectations and could see the socialist PSOE party lose control of the heartland it has governed since 1982.”

“In the last Andalucían election three years ago, the PP [the ostensibly “conservative” People’s party] took 61% of the vote in the barrio, with Vox limping far behind on 3.2%. On Sunday, the PP’s share of the vote in Los Remedios was down to 37.3%; Vox’s was up to 24.7%,” the Guardian also informs.

Yet again proving that its primary function isn’t guardian of truth but of leftism, the paper also writes that, “more importantly,” Vox “ended four decades of Spanish exceptionalism and showed that the country’s fabled immunity to far-right politics had finally given out.”

  • Yellow Vest and Unrest: French Revolution, Part Deux?

    Burning VanBy Selwyn Duke

That recent reports of an intention to overthrow the French government came from Le Figaro, the nation’s oldest national daily and a newspaper of record, speaks volumes. It suggests the threat was credible, though not realistic, and this reflects the deep discontent with imperious Western-establishment pseudo-elites that gave us Brexit, Donald Trump’s election, and, now, the “Yellow Vest” movement.

  • Answering Atheists: Italy’s New Government Promotes Christ in Schools

    1746135_lowBy Selwyn Duke

The Italians don’t have anyone like the Nebraska principal who recently tried to baneven candy canes and red and green items at Christmastime. But they do have a war on the season, as some Italian schools have moved to prohibit Nativity scenes and crucifixes in the name of “inclusiveness” and “respect for other cultures.”

This prompted a backlash from the ruling patriotic government, with Interior Minister Matteo Salvini calling the move “idiocy” and writing that the Christmas displays are “not just about religion, but about history, roots, culture.” He added, “I will not give up! Long live our traditions, and may they spread!”

  • Catholic Priest: Islam “Not a Religion of Peace”; Interfaith Dialogue Currently “Useless”

    Muslim Holding SwordBy Selwyn Duke

“Islam justifies killing and war in its sacred texts.” So said American Catholic priest Mario Alexis Portella in a striking, but mostly ignored, recent interview. The author of the new book Islam: Religion of Peace? The Violation of Natural Rights and Western Cover-Up, Portella is also quoted as having said that unless the Koran changes, dialogue with Islam is “useless.”

  • College Craziness: A Quorum for the “Whiteness” Forum? Yes, Sadly

    Prejudice SignBy Selwyn Duke

When radical Susan Sontag said in 1967 that the “white race is the cancer of human history,” it was a fringe view. Now it’s mainstream, with the latest example being a university “whiteness forum” claiming that that the VeggieTales cartoon and NFL are “racist” and that white female Trump supporters advance white supremacy.
