• When Liberal Preferences Meet Islamic Principles

    Muslim Holding SwordBy Selwyn Duke

There was a recent scandal that, as much as anything else, illustrates the intellectual emptiness and moral ennui of the modern liberal man. It occurred in Britain but reflects a wider phenomenon; what can be said about it can be said about happenings in Sweden, France, Holland, Canada or Belgium — or the United States.

It was discovered recently that Muslims in seven London schools were indoctrinating children with Islamic propaganda, ignoring Western culture and refusing to inculcate the “British values” of the moment. The situation was such that all of one school’s library books were in Arabic and many students couldn’t tell investigators whether they should follow British or Sharia law or which was more important. And one of these schools, mind you, was a state-run Church of England institution — that happens to now be upwards of 80 percent Muslim.

  • Racial Double Standard in the Eric Garner Affair

    Eric Garner Take-downBy Selwyn Duke

There is a racial double standard in the Eric Garner affair — one hardly anyone is talking about.

The July 17 New York City arrest incident after which the 400-pound Garner died, and which has sparked protests around the nation, was reportedly supervised by a black female commanding officer, Sergeant Kizzy Adoni. And while the focus has been on Officer Daniel Pantaleo, the white policeman who placed Garner in the much discussed choke-hold, a few are asking a question: Doesn’t the buck stop with the person in charge?

This certainly seems the point of view of another black woman, Cheryl Dorsey, a retired 20-year veteran sergeant of the Los Angeles Police Department. She says, writing at LA Progressive, “The female sergeant on scene had an affirmative responsibility to take control of the officers, the situation and thus Eric Garner. The sergeant failed.”

Of all those who believe the NYPD acted inappropriately in the Garner affair, Dorsey, interestingly, is one of the few not placing a greater onus on an underling, Pantaleo, than on the person in charge, Adoni.

  • Lena Dunham, UVA, and False Rape Accusations

    862858_blogBy Selwyn Duke

Rape is a horrific crime. A false accusation of rape is also a horrific crime. Both can alter your life, tragically — and perhaps forever.

Rape has also figured prominently in the news recently, the big story being embattled comedian Bill Cosby, who has found himself accused of the crime by multiple women. But accompanying this headline-grabber are two more high-profile rape stories, both, it appears, involving questionable allegations.

When curiously famous Lena Dunham (shown) alleged in her recently published memoir Not That Kind of Girl that she was raped by a “campus Republican” while a student at Oberlin College, the blogosphere was aflutter with incredulity. And it now appears the skepticism was warranted, with an in-depth Breitbart investigation finding that Dunham’s claim “collapses under scrutiny.”

  • When CPS Kidnaps Children for Money

    2455472_blogBy Selwyn Duke

“If I have it my way, you’ll never see your mommy and daddy again.” These cruel words were reportedly uttered to eight-year-old Jaxon Adams by a Missouri doctor working closely with Child Protective Services. While we don’t know if this statement will prove prophetic, the fact is that some children will never see their parents again — or, at least, not for a very long time — because of CPS.

And it has been alleged that many of these youngsters are essentially kidnapped — for money.

The New American reported Thursday on the plight of Cleave and Erica May Rengo, a young Washington State couple whose three children were, many say, seized from them unjustly. And far from being alone, the Rengos have now joined a legion of parents whose kids have been abducted by the state.

  • Home-birthed Children Seized After Parents Refuse to Use Hospital

    2455472_blogBy Selwyn Duke

It perhaps was your grandparents’ birthing experience. But this certainly isn’t your grandparents’ government. A Washington state couple has had their children seized by Child Protective Services, allegedly because they refused to take them to a hospital for a check-up and treat their older child with steroids — for eczema.

Cleave and Erica May Rengo (shown with their children) certainly are do-it-yourselfers. The Bellingham residents eschewed a traditional marriage ceremony and instead, as Cleave put it, “just prayed and invited God to bless our relationship so we'd have a family built on a firm foundation.” Soon afterwards their first child was conceived, and nine months later Erica delivered him at a birth center. But when the new mother found herself pregnant again in short order, the couple returned to their independent ways and decided on home birth. Erica related the reasoning and desires behind this decision: “I've done a lot of research about other women who have done it and they said the spiritual experience was so much more wholesome,” she told media outlet King5.com. “It was just us. We wanted to preserve that sanctity and sacredness in our birth.”

But the home birth, on October 2, was not without surprises. Having forgone an ultrasound, the Rengos never expected a daughter to be born — on the heels of their second son. They’d had fraternal twins.

The deliveries themselves, however, were problem-free. The babies were healthy, and Erica “describes her homebirth as ‘exquisite’ and ‘empowering.’ Morna Kai Grace and Daniel Clemente were born into their parents’ loving arms,” wrote Terri LaPoint at MedicalKidnap.com.

But the post-partum period was anything but problem-free, with the couple getting a harsh lesson in how the state has been empowered.

  • Democrat Politician: “Vote Twice” — Democrat D.A. “Won’t Prosecute You”

    Donkey-ElephantBy Selwyn Duke

“If you early voted, go vote again tomorrow. One more time’s not going to hurt.” So said Opelousas, Louisiana, mayor Don Cravins, Sr. (shown) in a video now making the rounds. In the footage, shot November 3 at a private event, the Democrat politician can also be heard reassuring the audience he was addressing, “Tomorrow we’re gonna elect Earl Taylor as the D.A., so he won’t prosecute you if you vote twice.” Taylor is a fellow Democrat who did, in fact, win reelection on November 4.

Cravins, along with embattled Senator Mary Landrieu, faces a Louisiana run-off election November 6; he goes up against another Democrat in his contest, unlike Landrieu, who is polling well behind Republican opponent Representative Bill Cassidy. She certainly is polling well in the Cravins household, however: The mayor’s son, Don Cravins, Jr., is Landrieu’s chief of staff.

And Cravins certainly was not craven about issuing his get-out-the-(illegal)vote appeal.

  • CNN Flat-out Lies: Calls Ferguson Rioters “Peaceful”

    Burning VanBy Selwyn Duke

Mocking critics have long said the CNN acronym stands for “Communist News Network.” Now they may feel vindicated. In a shocking display of reportage that many observers would characterize as journalistic fraud, the network has been whitewashing Ferguson protester violence. In fact, one New York Post writer minces no words when describing CNN’s “coverage” of the Missouri riots: Its reporters are simply “lying when they say Ferguson protests were ‘peaceful,’” she says.

Naomi Schaefer Riley opens her Post article writing, “Here’s a quiz for you folks in the media: What happens if you’re out doing ‘man on the street’ interviews but none of the men on the street fits your ‘narrative’?

If you’re CNN, you stop interviewing them.”

“Narrative,” by the way, has become a popular word the last several years. It means “story.” And you’ll hear things such as “That’s the narrative the party is trying to advance” or “His claim just doesn’t fit the narrative.” In CNN’s case, says Riley, the truth doesn’t fit its narrative.

  • Was Murdered Ferguson Man a Grand Jury Witness?

Police Line—Do Not CrossBy Selwyn Duke

The murder bore some earmarks of a hit. The young man was found behind the wheel of his white Pontiac Grand Prix, shot to death through the driver’s side window. There also was possibly something unique about him:

That he might have witnessed the Michael Brown shooting.

The young man was 20-year-old DeAndre Joshua, widely reported as the first casualty of the Ferguson riots. He was found dead Monday night mere yards from where robbery suspect Brown was shot in self-defense by Officer Darren Wilson on August 9. And Joshua’s alleged status as a possible witness to that fateful summer incident is raising some eyebrows.

  • Allegation: White Supremacists Burned Black Ferguson Church

    Burning VanBy Selwyn Duke

A few miles away from the Monday night mayhem and media presence in downtown Ferguson, a church was burned. It was a notable church, at least in the context of current events, in that it was attended by Michael Brown and his family — and its pastor has been very vocal in his defense of the deceased Missouri teen. And this story is unique in another way:

While the Ferguson looting and rioting caught on video has been a phenomenon of black criminals, Pastor Carlton Lee thinks his Flood Christian Church was burned by, as he put it, “white supremacists.”
