London Calling the Middle Ages? The City Schools That Teach Sharia

The British long ago established Western-style institutions of learning in colonized Muslim lands. But now it appears the educational worm has turned, menacingly, with a recent discovery that pupils at seven London schools are being instilled with Islamic propaganda.

Surprise inspections by Ofsted — the Office for Standards in Education — found that these schools taught a narrow curriculum, ignoring Western culture and refusing to inculcate British values. Most shockingly, some students at these institutions told inspectors that they didn’t know if they should follow English law or Sharia law — or which was more important.

Will Threats of Violence Sway the Ferguson Grand Jury?

“Would you rather hear me comin’ out, comin’ out and robbin’ your house? And it would be like, it'd just be like silence, man; you couldn't hear nothin’.” So said the threatening man, unidentified, in a message he left. It was left for a Ferguson police officer’s wife, also, understandably, unidentified. This woman would later tell KTVI’s Chris Hayes, while looking over her shoulder, “Did they follow me here [home]? Did I do a good enough job after work today of taking different routes, on my way home? Just letting my younger daughter leave the house…” (video below).

One thing not in doubt is that Ferguson, Missouri, where policeman Darren Wilson shot 300-lb robbery suspect Michael Brown in an apparent act of self-defense on August 9, is a tinderbox of fear, feints, and genuine threats. Add to this the highly politicized and publicized nature of the affair — the Department of Justice (DOJ) long ago injected itself into the case, and the nation is currently awaiting a grand-jury announcement on whether Wilson will be indicted for the shooting — and a question presents itself:

Could the threat of violence, which has spooked even police officers, influence the grand jurors?

The Taxpayer-funded Sex Conference That Twists Your Kids’ Minds

The sex conference gives instruction involving Internet porn, stripteases, bathing with others, sexting, sexual role-playing, and anal intercourse among its many licentious prescriptions.

It’s also attended by students as young as 11 years old.

And it’s partially funded with your tax money.

It’s called the Oregon Adolescent Sexuality Conference (OASC), which has been taking place annually in Seaside, Oregon, for the past 20 years.

It’s billed as a program that encourages “safe sex” and prevents teen pregnancy, but parents who sign permission slips allowing their children to attend probably don’t realize the event is anything but safe.

Is It Time to Appoint a Dictator?

Much of the reaction to Barack Obama’s illegal granting of amnesty by executive decree reflects a fundamental misunderstanding about our government’s intended nature. Illustrative of this misunderstanding is pundit Geraldo Rivera, who opined Thursday that “Republicans had it coming” because they “allowed their House Leadership to be rendered irrelevant by anti-immigration radicals” who have “zero intention to do anything on immigration except build higher fences and hire more border guards.” He furthermore states that if Obama “waited for the House GOP” to do something on immigration, “we would have waited forever.”

First note that building higher fences and hiring more border guards — aiding the executive branch in its legitimate role of enforcing the law — is hardly “doing nothing.” Moreover, if the liberals really wanted something done, all Obama had to do was assent to the Republican proposals. Oh, why should he just capitulate and give the opposition what it wants?

Fair enough. But doesn’t my suggestion merely reflect the attitude liberals have taken? The GOP is supposed to give them what they want, and if it doesn’t, it’s to be viewed as some kind of code violation that justifies liberals’ law violation.

Liberals Tell Men to Keep Their Legs Together

New York City is becoming (in)famous for no’s. No smoking, no bake sales, no salt, no French fries, no large sodas, no butter in schools, no non-girly toy guns. And now we can add a new no-no to the list:

No “man-spreading.”

This refers to the habit some men have of sitting with their legs splayed out on city subways. And now the Metropolitan Transit Authority is launching a PSA shaming campaign — funded with tax money — to try to eliminate this widening problem.

This effort is accompanied by the usual leftist-values-laden, politically correct indignation. Writing at Time magazine on Wednesday, Brian Moylan opens with an obligatory misandrist line about how there “are lots of things that men do that are crazy” before calling man-spreading “the most visual manifestation of patriarchal privilege” and opining that this “is why it is especially angering.”

Muslim Columnist: Regulation, “Diversity” Could Stop Negative Newspaper Coverage of Islam

While Britain already has hate-speech laws that stifle criticism of Islam, this isn’t enough for the political director of the Huffington Post UK, Mehdi Hasan. Speaking at a London media industry event hosted by Mindshare UK last Thursday, the columnist complained of what he called “demonizing press coverage” of Muslims and said it will not “change unless … there is some penalty.” He entertained the idea of “externally imposed” regulation as a possible remedy and also called for efforts to increase “diversity” in newsrooms.

The Guardian reported on the story:

The columnist … said the press has proven “singularly unable or unwilling to change the discourse, the tone or the approach” towards Muslims, immigrants and asylum seekers.

Hasan … said: “We’re not going to get change unless there is some sanction, there is some penalty. This is not just about Muslims; it is about all minorities.”

“Therefore you have to ask questions about: does it need to be externally imposed, either by better regulation or via some form of commercial imperative? Though, that requires a separate campaign to get companies to give a damn about this stuff,” Hasan added.

Hasan characterized much Islam coverage as “misinformation” and said it was “morally wrong.”

“Black Rebels” Put Finder’s “Bounty” on Heads of Officer Wilson and Relatives

In perhaps the most threatening move to date in the Ferguson situation, a militant group is offering rewards for information on the whereabouts of Officer Darren Wilson and each “close family” member, many of whom are in hiding.

The group, calling itself “RbG Black Rebels” and led by a man who goes by the name “Zulu Gaddafi” (whose symbol and message are shown below), is offering $5,000 cash for the location of Wilson and $1,000 for that of a family member. As most Americans know, Wilson is the policeman who shot 300-lb robbery suspect Michael Brown in an apparent act of self-defense in Ferguson, Missouri, on August 9. The story has since captivated the nation and sparked protests and riots, which have included Molotov-cocktail-wielding thugs; more unrest is anticipated in the wake of the grand-jury announcement — expected this week — regarding whether or not Wilson will be indicted for the shooting.

And the Black Rebels’ reward appears no idle threat. As the Daily Mail reports:

The Bright Side to Amnesty

To many, the above title may seem much like speaking of the bright side to malignant cancer. And did it really come out of this writer’s pen? Long a staunch immigration critic, I’ve written many articles on the subject; Pat Buchanan used one of my lines in his book Death of the West; and Congressman John Conyers quoted me in the House on May 16, 2007, saying, “[C]onservative commentator Selwyn Duke just yesterday inveighed against any immigration (legal or not). He warned, ‘[R]eplace our population with a Mexican or Moslem one and you no longer have a Western civilization, you no longer have America. You have Mexico North or Iran West.’” (Conyers wasn’t exactly in agreement.) And, no, it’s not that a pod from outer space has taken over my body or, worse yet, that I’ve become a liberal. I inveigh against all immigration still. I still oppose amnesty in all forms and under all guises. Nonetheless, the latter would have, perhaps, a small bright side.

This cannot be understood without grasping that illegal migration is not the problem.

It is an exacerbation of the problem.

Swedish Paramedics Need Body Armor to Enter Violent Muslim Areas

Sweden was once known for meatballs, midnight sun, Absolut, Volvo, blondes, and Ingmar Bergman. But added to that list may soon be paramedics decked out in military gear, including helmets, bulletproof vests, shin protectors, and gas masks. This is for protection in Muslim areas in which residents attack not only police, but also emergency medical personnel. Writes Speisa.com (edited for style and translation integrity):

They [the paramedics] are met with everything from guns to machetes…. "We are not protected anymore as we had been," the head of Ambulansförbundet, Henrik Johansson, says to Dagens Medicin

He explains that the Union wants the alarm center and ambulances to have access to the information police have on people who are likely to be violent or have weapons. But the union also wants to introduce what Johansson calls tactical units.

These are emergency medics who are ready to go into hot-spot areas, with riot helmets, bulletproof vests, shin guards and holster packs. They should have equipment adapted to work in such an environment. And of course also a gas mask, Johansson says.

So they will more or less look like the riot police?

“No, like the military,” said Johansson.

These problems are particularly common in what have come to be called in Europe “no-go zones” — Muslim enclaves where authorities have lost control and violence is rampant. In fact, the Daily Caller recently reported that primarily Muslim immigrant gangs now control 55 areas in Sweden; this phenomenon is no longer just limited to big cities such as Stockholm, either, but affects 22 different municipalities.

Obama Was Against Illegal Immigration Before He Was For it

“The number of immigrants added to the labor force every year is of a magnitude not seen in this country for over a century. If this huge influx of mostly low-skill workers provides some benefits to the economy as a whole — especially by keeping our workforce young, in contrast to an increasingly geriatric Europe and Japan — it also threatens to depress further the wages of blue-collar Americans and put strains on an already overburdened safety net.” So reports the Daily Caller’s Neil Munro on words to be heeded during the current amnesty debate. These thoughts are especially poignant since they aren’t the comments of House Speaker John Boehner, commentator Pat Buchanan, or the group NumbersUSA. They are, rather, the opinion of that other anti-illegal-alien crusader Barack Obama.

The passage is from his 2006 autobiography The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream, penned when Obama was considering a presidential run. But now, critics might say, Obama should write The Audacity of the Flip-flop, with his insistence that legalizing border-violating lawbreakers is “the right thing to do” and apparent intention to use executive orders to effect this action.

The aforementioned wasn’t all Obama had to say about the illegal-migration threat, either.
