• Vote Fraud? Video Shows Man Stuffing Hundreds of Ballots Into Ballot Box

    552042_lowBy Selwyn Duke

Defenders of lax election laws say it rarely happens — but apparently it’s happening again. In what critics describe as a shocking example of likely vote fraud, a surveillance video (see below) from a Maricopa County, Arizona, polling place shows a man stuffing hundreds of ballots into a ballot box.

The act was observed by A.J. LaFaro, chairman of the Maricopa County Republican Committee, on August 25 while he was stationed at the MCTEC facility at 510 S. Third Avenue in Phoenix during the primary election cycle. Writes the Arizona Daily Independent:

  • London Calling: Unannounced Police Visits to Legal U.K. Gun Owners Begin

    Chinese stormtroopersBy Selwyn Duke

There’s a knock on your door. Upon responding, you see two police officers who inform you, “We’ve come to inspect your firearms and look over your place, sir.” In a land known for onerous gun control and even proposals for knife control, this has become a reality for lawful gun owners in a move critics decry as excessive government control.

That land would be Britain, where, writes The Register’s Gareth Corfield:

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has announced a legal tweak intended to allow police officers to turn up at the homes of gun owners, without warning, and demand to inspect guns stored on the premises. A new Crimestoppers hotline is also in operation to encourage people to dob in gun owners they suspect of wrongdoing. However, as even the police themselves admit, gun crime is falling.

Coming in the form of an amendment to the Home Office Guidance on Firearms Law, as spotted by the Shooting Times, the change explicitly authorises police forces to turn up and conduct unannounced spot checks on law-abiding gun owners.

As you likely guessed, “dob in” is U.K. lingo for “snitch.”

  • CNN Spreads Lies About Radio Giant on Ebola

    Savage in StudioSelwyn Duke

“It’s so unhinged we should probably not bother dignifying it with fact-checking.” So said CNN’s Jake Tapper, reporting on comments radio giant Michael Savage made about the Ebola crisis. But if Tapper had done some fact-checking, fewer people would now believe as fact that he checked his credibility at the newsroom door.

On a Tuesday CNN segment titled “Dangers of Ebola: Myths and misconceptions,” Tapper claimed that Savage was broadcasting “wild conspiracy theories,” accusing the host of alleging that Barack Obama was purposely trying to spread the disease among Americans.

“[C]onservative talk-radio host Michael Savage, who has one of the biggest radio audiences in the country, has even been suggesting that this is all some Obama plot to purposely infect the nation,” said Tapper. He then played audio of the host saying on the Savage Nation radio program, “There’s not a sane reason to take 4,000 troops and send them into a hot Ebola zone without expecting at least one of them to come back with Ebola, unless you want to infect the nation with Ebola.” This is when the newsman concluded with, “It’s hard to even know where to start with that one, the idea that the president wants to infect soldiers and then Americans? It’s so unhinged, we should probably not bother dignifying it with fact-checking.”

  • Ebola Researcher: Disease Could Go Airborne at Any Moment

Out of the Frying PanBy Selwyn Duke

Ebola transmitted as easily as the common flu, in an airborne fashion? This could become a reality as the Ebola epidemic continues, says a Purdue University researcher who has been studying the disease for 15 years.

In a pair of Fox News interviews, professor of biological science Dr. David Sanders pointed out that while there’s no evidence of true “airborne Ebola” at this time, it conceivably is just one viral mutation away. On the Monday edition of The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, Dr. Sanders “explained that a very closely related virus is known to spread among animals via the air,” writes Fox News Insider blog. • Christian Businessman Told to Leave Faith at Home and Take Diversity Training

    2052845_lowBy Selwyn Duke

Whatever rights the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission is safeguarding, the right to engage in commerce doesn’t seem to be among them — not if you’re a believing Christian, anyway.

In a shocking decision, a commission examiner made a recommended ruling last Monday that a Christian businessman violated a local ordinance against sexual-orientation discrimination by refusing to print T-shirts with a pro-homosexual message. As Fox News’ Todd Starnes reported, “The examiner concluded that Blaine Adamson of Hands On Originals broke the law in 2012 by declining to print shirts promoting the Lexington Pride Festival. The Gay and Lesbian Services Organization subsequently filed a complaint.”

The examiner, Greg Munson, also demands that Hands On Originals go in for “diversity training” — conducted by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Human Rights Commission (LFUCHRC) itself — within the next 12 months.

  • Patient Number Two: Obama Fiddles While Ebola Spreads

Police Line—Do Not CrossBy Selwyn Duke

No one as yet knows how the United States' second Ebola patient — the first believed to have contracted the disease on American soil — became infected. We know that the person, a female nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, picked up the disease from recently deceased Liberian national Thomas Eric Duncan, with whom she had extensive contact. We know she got sick despite wearing protective gear. We know that authorities say there was a breach of protocol, but can’t yet identify what it might have been. Of course, this means other healthcare workers could have contracted the illness in like fashion, but perhaps are not yet exhibiting symptoms.

That can take up to 21 days.

Meanwhile, Centers for Disease Control chief Dr. Tom Frieden said that it is “deeply concerning that this infection occurred.” Some would label this understatement, given how affected individuals can come into contact with numerous others before being isolated. As The Guardian’s Tom Dart wrote, referring to the Dallas nurse:

  • Pot Use Is Devastatingly Dangerous: Analysis of 20 Years of Studies

    407898_blogBy Selwyn Duke

“I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from … cigarettes.” This sentiment, expressed by Barack Obama in January and shared by millions, has once again been challenged — this time by an academic review of 20-years worth of research.

The handiwork of Dr. Wayne Hall, a professor of addiction policy at King's College London and drug advisor for the World Health Organization, the review implicates cannabis in a whole host of health problems, but, in particular, in mental-health issues and addiction among habitual users — especially teenagers. Writes the Daily Mail:

               Professor Hall found:

    • One in six teenagers who regularly smoke the drug become dependent on it

    • Cannabis doubles the risk of developing psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia

    • Cannabis users do worse at school. Heavy use in adolescence appears to impair intellectual development

    • One in ten adults who regularly smoke the drug become dependent on it and those who use it are more likely to go on to use harder drugs

    • Driving after smoking cannabis doubles the risk of a car crash, a risk which increases substantially if the driver has also had a drink

    • Smoking it while pregnant reduces the baby's birth weight

… ‘There is no doubt that heavy users experience a withdrawal syndrome as with alcohol and heroin,’ [Hall said].

‘Rates of recovery from cannabis dependence among those seeking treatment are similar to those for alcohol.’

  • Will “Boys and Girls” be Prohibited in Nebraska Schools?

    Unhappy StudentBy Selwyn Duke

They used to say “Stay in school, boys and girls.” But if kids do so now, they may not be “boys and girls” — that is, not if some social engineers get their way.

In a shocking and disturbing example of political correctness, newly uncovered middle-school training documents in Lincoln, Nebraska, counsel teachers to avoid “gendered expressions” as part of an effort to alter the traditional understanding that mankind is divided into two sexes. The materials, revealed by Nebraska Watchdog, advise teachers not to call “students ‘boys and girls’ or ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ but to instead use more generic expressions like campers, readers, athletes or even purple penguins to be more ‘gender inclusive,’” reports the organization at its website. The social-engineering documents are entitled “12 easy steps on the way to gender inclusiveness…” and state:

  • The Rise of the Professional Slut

    By Selwyn Duke

“There was a time when you knew who the bad girls were,” someone close to me once said. “Now you know who the good girls are.”

And I hear that all three of them are beside themselves over today’s state of affairs.

“Lena Dunham: I Was Raped By a ‘Campus Republican,’” the headline reads, introducing the “Girls” star’s story about an alleged sexual assault at the hands of a “mustachioed” conservative undergrad while a student at Ohio’s Oberlin College nearly a decade ago. It’s perhaps a fanciful story, the kind you might expect to read in the National Enquirer or The Sun right after “I Was Impregnated by a Space Alien” and “Loch Ness Monster Found Living in Central Park Lake.” I mean, really, are we supposed to believe this?

That there was a Republican at Oberlin College?

  • Kremlin Takes Action After Exchange Student Adopted by U.S. Homosexual Couple

    Sex Symbols-ConfusionBy Selwyn Duke

When you send your son overseas through an exchange program for cultural enrichment, you don’t expect him to be adopted by a homosexual couple and never return home. But that’s exactly what is happening in the case of one Russian boy who was visiting the U.S. — over the protests of his own mother. Reports the Daily Mail:

[T]he Russian government claims the boy was 'illegally' put up for adoption….

Russian diplomats had visited the boy, and found that the 17-year-old was 'seduced' by 'a pair of old homosexuals at church, former military men who had already adopted two American boys, and they offered to become his sponsor and even pay for his studies at Harvard University'.

It was at this point that the boy handed himself over to immigration authorities, seeking asylum.

… Russia's children's commissioner Pavel Astakhov said …'The child hails from a decent family and is healthy so it's unclear what arguments those in the United States have been guided by.'

The student was scheduled to return to Russia in the spring, but now it appears he may not see his homeland again for a very, very long time. While his mother visited him in Michigan earlier this year in an attempt to bring him home, her efforts were in vain.
