  • Obama Gets What?! That’s Right, the Nobel Peace Prize

Man Giving Peace Sign The Nobel Foundation once again proves how ignoble it is by giving Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize.

    By Selwyn Duke

Well, I guess we can say, blessed be the peace makers — because they
must be in darn short supply. That’s the only conclusion I can draw
when I hear that President Obama — the man who got fawning media
treatment for no reason, was elected with a thin resume and exalted
without even being a king — has now been given the Noble Peace Prize
for, it seems, allegedly having good intentions.

Among those expressing the idea that this was Obama’s sole
qualification was the 1984 winner of the prize, Archbishop Desmond Tutu
of South Africa. Gregory Katz at Google news quotes him
as saying, “In a way, it's an award coming near the beginning of the
first term of office of a relatively young president that anticipates
an even greater contribution towards making our world a safer place for
all. It is an award that speaks to the promise of President Obama's
message of hope.” Putting it even more bluntly, Massimo Teodori, billed
as a U.S. history expert, said, “For now it's still intentions rather than fully implemented policies, but they are deserving ones.”

  • Are Hormone-mimicking Chemicals Harming Our Children?

    1498559_blog By Selwyn Duke

    Are chemicals in our environment
masculinizing girls and feminizing boys? A growing body of scientific
evidence suggests that this is the case, and one of the latest studies
has linked exposure to a substance known as bisphenol A, or BPA, with
    aggressive behavior in girls.

Liz Szabo reports on the research in USA Today, writing,
“In the study of 249 pregnant women, the first to examine the effects
of BPA on children's behavior, researchers found that girls … were
more likely to be aggressive if their mothers had high levels of BPA —
an estrogen-like chemical used in many consumer products — early in
    pregnancy.”

  • Obamas’ Self-Centeredness on Display

Gymnast Holding Rings By Selwyn Duke

    It's a humbling
realization, but anybody aspiring to grow in wisdom must understand
that he is but one of six and a half billion people on this blue orb,
no more important than anybody else.  Yet this is something that eludes
many in a modern culture of self-esteem exercises, wherein children are
sometimes raised as if the world revolves around them.  And watching
Michelle Obama's speech while lobbying the International Olympics
Committee (IOC) on Chicago's behalf made it plain that she was — and
perhaps still is — one of those children.

I'm not the first to note how thoroughly solipsistic the First Lady's speech was (Joe Gimenez did a very good job here).
This is because it was so painfully obvious.  She wasn't singing the
praises of the Windy City; it was Windy Michelle talking about what may
be her favorite topic: herself.  Confusing advocacy with autobiography,
it was I, I, I; her father this and her father that; how well she
learned to throw and punch; how she played games
as a girl; what she learned through sport; how she is a mother and a
daughter (which we sort of discerned); ad infinitum.  I half expected
her at any moment to break into the chant, "Mm, mm, mm, Michelle
    LaVaughn Obama!

  • Do Not Blame Barack

Snake and Apple Note: this piece was originally published at American Thinker.

    By Selwyn Duke

    Contrary to what my title
indicates, I probably judge Barack Obama more harshly than most reading this
page.  I don’t think he is just a
misguided ideologue or merely a creature of expediency.  I believe, practically speaking, that he is
an evil man.  That is to say, while he is
largely ignorant like so many others, he has developed an affinity for evil.  He mistakes it for good.

  • Guest Piece: How Democrats Win Senate Seats

    Shell Game By Bruce Walker

    [Note
from Selwyn: This is a piece you really should read.  Bruce does an
excellent job of demonstrating how the Democrats have been shamelessly playing with
the law in order to increase and maintain their power.]

    The
Democrats have done it again.  When Mitt Romney was governor of
Massachusetts and John Kerry was running for president, the ultra-partisan
Massachusetts Legislature changed the law to remove from Governor Romney the
right to appoint a successor to Kerry, if the senator should be elected
president.  The new law required, instead, that the people of
Massachusetts elect the replacement for a departing senator. There was no grand
public motive behind this new law:  Democrats just did not want a Republican
governor appointing a Republican to Kerry’s Senate seat.

  • More Atheist Oppression: Freedom from Religion in Georgia

2052845_low Cheerleaders in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, have been told they can no
longer voluntarily display banners expressing religious sentiments.

    By Selwyn Duke

The militant atheists are at it again, using the
separation-of-church-and-state artifice to impose their values on
others. This time they’re targeting high-school cheerleaders, telling
them they cannot display banners bearing religious sentiments despite
the fact that the girls created the banners themselves. Ben Benton at
the Chattanooga Times Free Press treats the issue, writing:

    Community members are rallying around
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School cheerleaders after they were
banned from displaying signs with Bible verses urging fans and players
to “commit to the Lord” and “take courage and do it.”

  • TNA Cover Story — Obama: Beyond the Idea of an Icon

    Obama Deification

    By Selwyn Duke

There has long been a certain objection to the divine command that
we should worship God. It is simply: Why does God need you to worship
Him? It is, really, an eminently fair question, and it has an eminently
logical answer: God doesn’t need you to worship Him. You need to worship Him.
Worshipping God has, among other things, the very great by-product
of reminding us who God is and, by extension, who He is not: us.

    This
may seem obvious, but history has shown that this simple fact more
often than not eludes man. For instance, Egyptian pharaohs were
considered very important gods in their culture; in 44 B.C., Julius
Caesar erected a statue of himself with the inscription, “The
unvanquished god”; and in the mid 2200s B.C., King Narim-Sin of the
Akkadian Empire was known as “the god of Agade.”

  • Duke Reponds to Critics of Sexual Identity Crisis Article

    Rams Locking Horns

This is a response to critics of my piece "Death of the West: Our Sexual Identity Crisis." It originally appeared at American Thinker.

    By Selwyn Duke

    Because of the controversy this
article has evoked, the editor of American Thinker, Thomas Lifson, has
requested that I address some of the criticisms I’ve received.  And I am happy to do so, as it’s obvious that
some critics haven’t read the whole piece, have only skimmed it, or reacted to it
so emotionally that they couldn’t digest what was actually written.
